My favorite things about little park is the privacy factor. Like to get here right around 7 am and for the most part to get the greens and the magical Coronado Bridge scenery all to myself. The basketball court remains pretty empty too until about 2 – 3 o’clock. Also serves as a great place to meditate and sort of hide of the city hustle! Has a mysterious and unique vibe, that keeps me coming back. I highly recommend coming to check out the views at least once if you’re in the Barrio Logan, Golden Heights area, for grub and brew.

Off the beaten path and not well known and less well understood, this park has the best views of the Coronado bridge and Downtown San Diego, in particular now the dome of the central library erected like the jewel of the city. Grant Hill park is small and hilly, perfect for sunset watching and family oriented. Mostly Mexican families who live in the area gather in picnics there. Be aware, also, that you will find homeless people parked there every time you go. So if that makes you feel uncomfortable, stick to Balboa park or a more populated one. I like it because of the views and the sensation of being far away from everything.

Cool little park with awesome views of the Coronado bridge, the downtown skyline, and Logan Heights. Great place to watch the sunset.

I don’t get it? Go to Golden Hill park, or Balboa park instead.

Grant Hill Park is the best in San Diego despite of(or maybe because of) it’s diminutive size. There are always people barbecuing, playing soccer or basketball, enjoying the view of the Coronado Bridge, downtown, and the water, or watching fireworks in the summer. There is a steady stream of vendors selling tamales/elotes/paletas to the happy park-goers. I can sit on my front porch and watch the basketball tournaments and smell the carne asada, which never fails to make me happy. Some sunny Saturday stop by the new Sherman Heights Farmer’s Market(right in front of the community center on Island) and bring some snacks to the park for a picnic.
