Wasn’t impressed at all with the customer service at this place. There were two women working as cashiers/barista today and both looked super miserable being there. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and when it was ready they left it sitting behind them, both looking at it multiple times while I stood there waiting. A guest who ordered after me was given her food before me, as a matter of fact. I finally asked how much longer it would be and the really unhappy dark haired girl sort of turned away, then finally picked up my sandwich that had been sitting there for five minutes and gave it to me. The pastrami was really fatty and hard to chew and since my sandwich had been left sitting on the counter so long, the bottom bread had become soggy. Likely won’t be returning based simply on the customer service. Normally I’m willing to give deli’s more than one shot if a sandwich is a miss because it just may not be their strongest showing, but if walking back in there means interacting with really grumpy inattentive staff again, I think I’ll pass.

Grant’s! I freakin’ love you! I’ve been meaning to write this review for some time, but you know, life. Everyone who works here is great, their sandwiches are SO good(surprisingly so) and they have every gluten-free option you could hope for. They are pricier, but cheap food ain’t good and good food ain’t cheap. I’m so happy to have them in the neighborhood.

I was in the neighborhood and stopped by Grants Market for a sandwich. I have never been there before but saw good reviews on Unilocal. They weren’t wrong. Holy Shit the South Park Special might be my new favorite sandwich. When they were making it, I walked around the store and saw they had quite a good selection of of items. The beer selection was pretty good too. I’m definitely coming back very soon to try more things on the menu.

Well as far as atmosphere and location this is a very nice spot especially with their outside seating. They do have a good selection of market goods and specialty items which generally are however a bit over priced. The staff is friendly and very nice and the sandwiches are generally of good quality once you finally get your order IF it is correct. Literally 5⁄5 of the last 5 times I have gone there with my family and the order is very slow and incorrect. Literally 5⁄5 times incorrect and the bummer is that the sandwiches are wayyyy overpriced– I will avoid… YMMV

Went and ordered a caprese sandwich at Grants. The sandwich was good not great. Would have been better if it were served hot like a panini. The bread is good with your fresh mozzarella and tomatoes with the fresh basil. They also put balsamic glaze on the bread. On a side note walked through the store and noticed a lot of the items are overpriced. There are two items that are great in the market: Assentis Pasta and El Indio Tortilla Chips

This review is strictly for food service and food! [If you are going here for buying foods– a lot from relatively small brands and a huge diversity of goods on top of that– this place seemed to be the perfect joint to go. They had goods from Pickle Chips(YUM!) to Julian’s Pies. JULIAN’S PIES! Who knew such a normal sized store could hold so many types of treasure?!] I went here with my supervisor after a morning excursion for a quick bite to eat before going back to the site for the afternoon assessments. While she got a Trolley on croissant with horseradish, I was feeling the breakfast Lox on a sesame bagel. They handed us this little buzzer thing(you know, what they use in some restaurants to notify you that your table is ready?), and we went outside to wait for our meals. The outdoor patio area was perfectly set up to look out at the passerbys, albeit a bit small and crowded on the side with round tables. While the cashier that helped us that day was attentive to our ordering, when the food was ready, there was definitely some confusion about our food order with another person’s food order. Though its a small deli/café, the mistake took time to clarify, you know? Perhaps a more organized food delivery system would be appropriate! Besides that, when I did get my lox bagel, I was so pleased by it’s aesthetics! It was this beautiful bagel with a huge glob of cream cheese(which I usually am turned off by, but it was delicious!), a generous smattering of smoked salmon, and a small sprinkling of some sort of green herb with capers. I took a bite and wow. You really can’t go wrong with lox and bagels. After a while though, the cream cheese got a bit too much– but thats mainly due to my taste. Food was great! But service was sort of messy(as in order discrepancies and inattention in some servers) This little marketplace in South Park still piques my interest though from it’s wide selection of goods! I will definitely be coming to take a better look around when I have more time, and when I’m around the area again.

I want to like this place, and for whatever reason I keep coming back hoping this time will be better… service And coffee quality is sporadic at best(sometimes I get great service and coffee, hence going back). But after three bad coffee drinks in a row I quit. Sandwiches are flavorless and I always have to add salt. Three stars for the few times I got great service and that one delicious coffee that kept me chasing the dragon.

If you like lox and bagels, get the best I’ve had in a very long time here … it’s just a perfect mix of fresh lox, fresh dill, capers, tiny bits of red onion with cream cheese all on a great bagel of your choice at a decent price. Really recommend it.

Love the people working here and that this place exists but please I beg of you at busy times have two lines, one for those getting deli items and one for groceries. I hate waiting in line behind lots of people who are ordering deli food and the clerk has to get drinks for each one and if you want a carton of milk be prepared to wait a super long time if they are at all busy. I wish they would adopt this simple fix. It’s at the point hat if there are three people in line I turn around and go down the street to Krisp

Horrible customer service. Very unfriendly and accommodating at all! And for some reason they think they get to charge more than even Whole Foods, which products we all know are already overpriced.

Walking distance from my house I have been going here for 5 years. My favorite for breakfast is the«breakfast Joe» sandwich with an everything bagel! They have so much to offer and the waitstaff is really nice! There is a strong following in the community and the owner lives nearby and takes great care and detail in everything he does! Nice work everyone.

I love this place! Walking distance from my new apt and it seriously covers a multitude of things you might need on a quick shopping trip! Wine, Beer, Gelato Sandwiches, Coffee, Quiches, Pastries, Probars, Candy, Rice, the list goes on! I ESP love their chia, kiwi, strawberry, walnut, coconut flake bowl they have!!! The staff is nice except the one time the cashier wouldn’t really look at me even after I said thank you for ringing me up? Eye contact is huge for me. And when you’re serving someone — look at them. Overall I t definitely has a homey feel to it and this will definitely be my go-to spot for MANY things!

I must say, I HAVE been to grants almost everyday, due to this being close to work. The girl at the cash register with blue hair is amazing. she is sweet, nice and has amazing taste on food and drinks. The other girls in the back don’t say much of anything and I have seen some random looks. The food is pricey, yes, HOWEVER, they are in NORTHPARK. It is a high rent spot and they have to make money… being said, its SANDIEGO, you will pay overpricing on most everywhere you eat. Please note, these sandwiches are amazing, esp the Californian on Swirled Rye bread. American cheese. Bagels are great, they will add extra cream cheese at no cost. Keep doing great, Grants!

If you want a mediocre /over priced sandwich. This is your place. My sub par tuna melt was 10 bucks! And the girls are rude. Don’t go here!!!

Grants is a wonderful place to get some REALLYGOOD sandwiches. I forget the name but they had this sandwich that had beef, cheese with sourdough bread smothered in BBQ sauce! So good. Fresh ingredients from the cheese to the bread and even the pickles! Reasonably priced and just really good. Located in Golden Hill /South Park area of SD, they take care of you. I’ve met the owner Joe Grant personally and he is a very nice guy always looking to serve the local community.

Cute little corner store and deli! Stumbled upon this place by accident and stopped in to get an afternoon snack, but ultimately left with a root beer and sandwich. So good! They have a good selection of root beers, cream sodas, and a variety of different types of bottled soft drinks. I ordered the turkey muenster bacon sandwich with pepper mayo, lettuce, and tomato on toasted wheat. Huge sandwich! Luckily my bf was there to split it with me and thankfully we didn’t get any chips bc we wouldn’t have had much room for dinner since we had reservations for restaurant week. Sat outside where it was nice and peaceful, sun shining bright, kicked back and enjoyed my sandwich and root beer. That’s a good day. Or half hour I guess I should say

Grant’s reminds me of a brand new puppy. The kind that poops on your couch and pees on your favorite shirt. You’re super annoyed, maybe angry, and think about giving it all up and then before you know it’s wormed it’s way back into my heart. Not that my precious baby would EVER do that(again)! But seriously, the selection is pretty wonderful for a tiny place. So many wonderful treats! Their vegan cookies are awesome, as are anything by Jenny Wenny. The actual owner man /manager(or he should be, he takes great pride in his work) has really impressed me(maybe because I think of him as a mix of Pacino and Nathan Lane?). I’ve seen great customer service for a steady period now. And it is a little slice of heaven to sit outside with a ginger ale.

I stopped by Grant’s and had some scrumptious lox on whole wheat toasted bagels for under $ 5. The bagels came piles with green capers, smoked salmon, some sliced onions, and of course, a healthy spread of cream cheese.( ) The bagel was good and came with a light toast and had a mild chewy texture. The smoked salmon had a hint of smoke and nice fresh salmon flavor with a salty after taste.( ) I usually go light on the capers, but they piled these on, and it was okay because their flavor was not to overwhelming. The had a slight briny flavor that balanced well with the lox and creamy cream cheese. Good stuff. They offer a full deli, baked good, and good wines and beer. The people are very friendly here and quite willing to serve you. They have seating inside and a nice patio outside.( ) I’ve driven by here many times, and always thought it was just a market, but when I walked in, I sure became a fan very quickly. Great market with great food…

After all these years I am still loving this joint and am so lucky that they are my neighborhood sandwich shop. I feel like I have torn through the entire menu by now and honestly, it’s hard to go wrong. Go ahead, Grant… wrong me. I dare you! Just ain’t happein’. Watch out for all the genius little rascals when they get out of class from the Einstein Academy around the corner. They’re sure to take the place over in mere seconds and your order will take twice as long. How the hell can these kids afford it anyway?! When I was 10 years old my mom was packing me brown bag lunches with whatever was about to go bad in the fridge and these twerps are eating gourmet sandwiches?! Don’t cross them though, they’re sure to be your boss someday. I digress… Anyhow, I’ve already proclaimed my love for this place twice before but it’s worthy of a third. It’s that goooooood.
