Hair Play Salon is lovely salon. It’s walking distance from my house which is convenient. I take my kids & myself to see Marisa Wright. She always does a fantastic job. I had been searching for a stylist for my kids especially. The kid salons tend to be a little pricey & usually there is a long wait. So I like that Marisa is reasonably priced & I can make an appt with her. My kids love her! My son hates getting a haircut but now he looks forward to seeing Marisa! Yay! Thank you Marisa.

Tara is absolutely the best hairstylist I’ve ever had. I’ve been coming to her for five years, and she really knows how to cut my hair. Her prices are great, and she’s even given me a discount for holidays and special occasions. More than just a haircut, Tara and I always have great conversations, and I’d highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new stylist.

AMAZING hairstylist. Hands down the best in North Park.
This review is for Marisa Wright. I wanted to go ombré and I showed Marisa pictures of the look I was going for. I have reddish hair and I was worried how I would look with ombré. But Marisa made my hair look AMAZING. I get compliments everywhere I go and I’ve referred friends to her because she really knows what she’s doing. She is so, so talented and very professional. She also carries an exquisite brand of hair products from Italy — ask her for more information! She’s super cool and hip. She’s offered me beer while I got my hair done and it was quality stuff. She knows her craft beer.

For me as a new client, Marisa was wonderful. The salon is cute and It seemed like I got a color and conditioning treatment in no time at all because the conversation was so easy. I really appreciated her expertise and advice about my long hair which I had let go for too long without having anything done. I’m looking forward to my next appointment!

Review for Marisa Wright! I have been going to Marisa for almost two years now, and followed her from her last salon to Hair Play. Marissa is a very talented artist in precision cutting and color. My mom was a hair dresser for 20+ years, and I grew up around the business, and my mother always approves of my hair. :-D
I came to Marissa a blonde, and we’ve gone red, brunette, balayage and back to blonde together. Its been a ride!
She truly takes extra care with her clients, offers nice little perks (she just started doing a loyalty program!) and delivers what you want at a great price and professionalism. Plus, she’s just a fun, and interesting chick to talk to. I always look forward to my appointments with Marisa. She’s fantastic!

Tara went above and beyond my first time in the salon. I highly recommend as the price is fair, location is great, and the conversation is real. I had no issues with parking and the wait was no more than 5 minutes. The reviews reflect what a great business Tara is running.

How on God’s green earth did this place get five stars!!! The owner is wonderful but my goodness Denise’s attitude is far from what you would expect in a salon in downtown SF. I saw her for relaxers and a few wash & styles and on two occasions had to wait up to 30 mins bec she popped out to get something to eat or for a cig break. Not cool. The salon experience should be consistent no matter the stylist. There needs to be more oversight here. Won’t be going back and urge you to find a different stylist if you must go here.

What can I say, Tara is awesome. The quality and consistency of her cuts are great. She is super friendly, great listener and conversationalist. Parking might not seem easy but you can usually find a spot within a block of her place. Nice little comfy area to sit in while you wait and plenty of magazines to read.

I’ve been going to Tara for around 4 years I’d say. I am SO PICKY when it comes to my hair and who touches it, but I always have complete faith in her. I can’t say enough good things about her. I’ve never been dissatisfied with a haircut and she’s always so pleasant to talk to. If you go to Tara, you’re in good hands.

Great place for a perfect men’s haircut everytime. I bounced around many different places in SD before finding Tara and now I would never go anywhere else. Tara is super talented and super friendly and your haircut will be so much better than what you get at your typical Super Cuts type place. Give her a call — highly recommend!

Decent cut, Tara was just just rude and short with me multiple times and I was super curteous (my gf can attest). And $ 40 for a trim with no wash seemed high. Oh well, tons of other places.

Tara made me look beautiful again, my hair was ridiculously long (for a male) and I was reluctent to cut it off. The first time she pushed me to cut it short but I was stubborn and didn’t go through with it. After a few weeks I came back and took her up on her offer of cutting it short, and she knew what was best for me. Girls are loving the new look and so am I. Confidence restored

I guess the best review one could give is if a customer keeps coming back. Tara has been cutting my hair for years. She is very professional and personable. She really makes you feel welcome in her salon, which is tastefully decorated and has a very relaxing ambiance. Parking is available on the street, but there is plenty of it, super close to the salon.
If you need a cut, Tara is the woman for the job, and no, she did not ask me to write this review. I just joined Unilocal,and she is the first person I thought of to review!
