Awesome new salon in the heart of Hillcrest. I’ve had long hair my entire life! Melissa gave me an a-​line cut and it came out perfectly! I will definitely be going back.

I called ahead to sort of make an appointment (though not with any particular stylist); they also accept walk-​ins. Despite my 3:30PM appointment, it was fairly busy so I didn’t get cut until closer to 4:00PM. Basically, calling ahead meant my name was already pre-​written on the sign-​in sheet that you otherwise add yourself to upon walk-​in, so it cut down on my wait time.
Other Unilocalers seem to rave about specific stylists, but in my case I happened to get who was available when my turn came up.
I was cut by Melissa and she and I chatted during my entire cut. She was easy to talk to and also gave a nice shampoo with massage at the end.
The inside is fairly simple but everyone seems really friendly.
Pretty good overall for a $ 20 cut! They also have a rewards program for repeat customers (stamp card) plus some sort of birthday promotion, I think a free cut.

I work longs hours in a laid back office, so while I have to look professional, I’m allowed to have some length. For a guy, that’s a relief. But it was time to get a chop and I saw that I could get to Haircrest on my lunch break. Deborah gave me a great trim, but left a bit to much length the first go round, so she invited me back to cut a little more off. It looks great. I trusted her creative judgement and let her do her thing, and I was not disappointed.
As for ambiance, the place is comfortable and unpretentious. They have great music playing overhead and all the stylists are enthusiastic and charismatic. They even give you a little head massage when they shampoo your hair.
All in all, a great experience. Not that I get my hair cut often enough (or at all), but it’s nice to have a spot I can rely on for a professional yet stylish cut when my boss says my hair might be getting too long.

I have been getting my haircut by Edwin for years. He is the man! I try to call ahead but if I need a quick cut he always makes time to fit me in. He is quick and always asks what I would like done although most times I get the same thing done. I do give him free realm sometimes and when I do my hair comes out amazing! I always get compliments on my cuts and colors.
I love how Edwin gets down to the cut. Most days I am quite busy and he doesn’t talk and take his time. I like going in and out and I am done. He is very friendly and always makes me feel like a million bucks after my cut. He sends me thank you texts after my visits which gives that extra personal touch.
I will continue to go to Edwin as he’s quick, creative and just awesome. Thank you!

Daniel is very courteous and consistent, he asks and listens to what style you have in mind, advises if style will not really work for you or your hair type with thorough explanations of the «why not «and is always able to accomplish your wishes as close as possible with your type of hair.
Daniel is an amazing hair stylist! He goes above and beyond expectations! He is familiar with all styles, uses best tools for your hair type and cut and the end result is always perfect. Your hair carries the style until it is cut again, whether it be 6 weeks or 6 months. I feel this is a very important asset for a stylist for people on the go.

Annie gave me the worst root touch up I’ve ever had. I’m 62 and that’s a lot of touch ups. I’m in town for three months, so needed it so I just walked in and set up an appt. C’mon, how bad can a touch up be? BAD. It came out three inches of DARK brown on blonde — it was $ 100 for touch up and simple trim. She has been doing this for 20 years and should have known better! It cost me $ 200 to fix it! She had lame excuses when I told her I was going to post this — please go somewhere else…

I came here for a fade and slight trim (hair was getting too poofy). I gave this place a second shot. I forgot the guy’s name, but I felt he rushed my haircut (both times). He put on a size clip and just went full speed ahead. He also took a little bit too much on the top. Go here for a quick haircut, but I’ll probably go elsewhere and fork some extra money for a high quality haircut and attention to detail/​my needs.

Good haircuts, except every time I go here they remind me I’m going bald. Every single time!

I have been coming here exclusively since the summer of 2010, and I highly recommend this establishment. It’s not a fancy barber, so I’m not sure how their skills are with trendy fades and designs. But if you are looking for a great cut, fast service, and attention to detail, EDWIN is the man for you. Call ahead and ask for Edwin. Also, this review is intended for male audiences, as I can only vouch for the service I have personally received, being a dude.

Daniel is an amazing hair stylist! He went above and beyond expectations! Did a full dye and it turned out great! Went blonder then I normally do and was nervous about finding a new stylist, but Daniel killed it! He did an amazing job and I’m definitely coming back for more!
Everyone here is so friendly and welcoming! Made me feel right at home! All of the hairdressers talked to me and commented on my hair, it was so nice! They really care about their customers, so refreshing to get my hair done in such a nice place with such a cute name!

I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and put my name on the list. Michele, one of the stylists, told me that it would be 25 – 30 minutes before she could cut my hair and told me I should come back then. 25 minutes later I returned and she was with a new client and said it would be another 30 minutes. «Sorry!» Yeah, pretty sorry. The only stylist there worth anything is Edwin. Too bad he doesn’t work Sundays

The over all cleanliness of the shop was nice. I went in on 3÷30÷2015 and the free consultation was informative but the lack of professionalism of the stylist was appalling. I wanted highlights or an ombré style but figured the highlights would be a better option for me. While the stylist was applying the color, I asked a question and they asked me to be quiet because they needed to concentrate and muttered under their breath that «I don’t even like you» and laughed. I looked at them with a puzzled look and they said with a smile, «you heard me» then said «oh don’t go writing me up now.» Then, two minutes later they asked me a question to strike up conversation.
While my hair was processing, the stylist took another client, which was cool with me since my hair had to process anyways but while sitting the chair for 20 plus minutes, I looked at the stylist to see where they were at on the other client and the stylist said «don’t worry honey, you wanted to be platinum,» and rolled their eyes at me.
After washing out the product in my hair they showed me how I could get better volume when I dry my hair, which was nice but I don’t usually put a lot of volume in hair. Then they put too much volume in my hair and commented on how I looked like a country singer from Texas with big hair. They didn’t ask me how I wanted to style my hair or where I normally parted my hair.
Also, the stylist was too rough on my hair and my neck. The only good part was that the water didn’t burn my scalp.
Now, when I pull my hair back in a ponytail you don’t see the highlights. The overall experience at that salon was horrible and will not go back there again. Worst idea ever!

First visit. Annie cut my hair. I showed her a picture and she gave me exactly what I was looking for. Also, free parking! Everyone is friendly. Great price, will be returning! Thank you!

My partner had just received a pretty bad chop and tomorrow is his birthday and he wanted to look his best! You know, WORK!
when I called Michelle I was pretty frantic! She was so friendly and welcoming. she took us in right away! She and another stylist really took their time before they came up with a style to remedy the bad cut. My partner looks great and feels much happier now that he’s prepared for all the pictures I’m going to take!

I came in and told her I needed a trim and asked her to make my hair look more lively, and she delivered just that. I was getting compliments while I was getting my hair done and received a couple more when I left. I love going to her because she knows exactly what I want, and I’ve only been there twice. Like I’ve said before, this place is officially the hair salon I’ll be going to from here on out.

This is a great neighborhood salon. In a hood starved for parking, they have a parking lot, and it’s in the center of Hillcrest so easy to get to regardless of your method of transport.
Their services are extremely affordable, and the results fantastic. Personally, I followed my hairdresser, Carlin, from his last salon – yes he’s that good. I always look great after a visit to him, from new styles, to fun colors, he’s great at executing whatever I ask for. And he does the best scalp massages during the shampoo.
Both this place, and Carlin in particular are highly recommended.
