Starbucks

It’s my local neighborhood Starbucks, where everybody knows my name!
My favorite feature of this Starbucks location (aside from the great service) is the patio that overlooks University St. It is awesome for people-​watching or just hanging out in the sun.
Unfortunately, there are 2 pretty «meh» things. During busy times of day (aka «the morning»), the line can back up out the door. This causes a pretty big service delay, and you can end up waiting 20 minutes for a drink. I recommend order via the app so you have less of a wait. Also, the parking situation can be pretty bad. Since they share a parking lot with everything else in this complex, you may have a hard time finding a spot.
Regardless of that though, this is still my choice Starbucks in the area.

I ordered twice tonight. For the first time the barista was really kind and we had a small conversation about the nearby bar and parking, she was really nice.
The second time, I was waiting in line again since my friend asked me to order a double espresso but didn’t tell me iced or hot — I was waiting for her to respond to my question but the baristas made both; one hot and one iced. They were really kind and I wish I could tip them more. Thank you! (this was around 8pm, idk the baristas names)

This location is conveniently located off University Ave. So, when I drive by in the morning, it is easy to park and jump in to get my usual. I have been here a few times now. The baristas are inconsistent with their speed of making the order. At $ 3 plus a tall order, I expect speed. This morning, I waited 10 minutes for my order. WOW! That is too long.
Now, the other 5 times it was great to wait less then 2 minutes. Keep it consistent. The asian girl (barista) is AWESOME! And friendly!
Also, put a smile on your face. I know that it’s 6:45a.m. But, you have been here since 4:30a.m., and at this point you’ve had plenty of caffeine to perk you up.

This n’ that: If you are coming here early in the morning. You will not have any issues parking off University Ave. or in the shopping center. This Starbucks is part of a shopping center.

I am giving this store 5 stars because I’ve always gotten great service here.

I’m pretty sure I went this Starbucks every time I visit San Diego. It’s in a great location and seem to be consistently busy. It’s in the heart Hillcrest and very gay. Try spotting a woman in here. She’ll likely be behind the counter. LoL.
It’s fairly small for being the only one in the vicinity. I’m definitely a fan of the outdoor seating, as San Diego weather is so amazing.
The staff seem friendly enough but not very talkative. Service is not the quickest. Took a while for my black iced coffee to come up.
There is plenty of parking in the lot and street parking as well.

Staff is very slow and seems to be preoccupied on chatting with each other most of the time and not focusing on the customer. Case in point… today I went in and watched a guy accidently knock his drink on the floor. The Manager came out and saw this happening. She had her bag and a drink in hand and it was obvious she just ended her shift. Rather than do anything, she looked at the spill and walked over to the counter to order two drinks to take home with her. She didn’t even offer or have one of her staff offer to clean up the spill. She just let the customer do it.
Yesterday I went and got my normal drink. When the barista announced the drink, it was a cold drink and not a hot one. When I informed her of the mistake, her reaction was «oh» and then proceeded to make three other drinks before making my correct drink.
I am all for getting along with your coworkers, but I think that there needs to be some retraining at this location to engage with the customers as well as some basic customer service skills.

Slowest service ever… friendly for the most part but OMG could you actually move like you have a purpose. There were 5 people ahead of me and 5 behind me, took 15 minutes to get one drink! And there is no room for people to stand while they take their sweet ass time to make one drink at a time-​could definitely use a class in multi-​tasking.
Oh, and they got the drink order wrong-​how do you get S’mores Frapp from a Mocha Frapp…

The best thing about Starbucks is that it’s everywhere and you get exactly what you want every time you go. I don’t really like Starbucks coffee, but I do like their iced tea lemonades. It’s a nice treat on a hot day, which is what the weather was like when Cam dropped me off for my facial 30 minutes early.
Tall Black Iced Tea Lemonade, Half Sweetened. The nice thing about Starbucks is that they are open to customizing your drink. Since lemonade already has a lot of sugar in it, I like reducing the additional sweetener they put in with the tea. This drink is definitely over priced for what you get, but when I’m on the go, it’s nice to pick it up.
This specific Starbucks had a great staff that was really nice, worked efficiently, and maintained a clean bathroom.

I love this Starbucks! Their customer service is awesome! They know exactly what I want when I visit! Clean, friendly and great drinks!

I frequent 4 different locations and this one is always my favorite. I find that when I am looking to get out of house and need Internet the WiFi here is always on point. Staff is always friendly, only down side to location bistro items are under stocked.

They make the best soy Chai lattes. Im very happy. Long line in morning but so worth the wait. Everyone in there is always so pleasant and sweet.

Staff is rude and don’t know their drinks. Every time I have been there they mess up my drink. It’s on their menu and I have no substitutions, I just don’t get it.

IT was quick and i was out the door. Busy with customers hanging around and studying. Good thing no one was in line for a drink.

Most early weekday mornings they have plenty of staff to get me in and out quickly. Coffee is always the way I ordered. They have a wonderful long table for seating inside and extra tables and chairs. Love this Starbucks

Gah… Is it below zero in this place? It’s mid winter and the AC is blasting. Uncomfortable place to sit and enjoy my drink.

Save yourself the time and good energy and go to one of the other zillion Starbucks located in this neighborhood. The staff here is rude and it’s as simple as that. They are flat out rude and either need to find another line of work or undergo a serious refresher on how to provide at least DECENT customer service.

The two stars is for the cool patio and how close this one is to my home. That’s about it.

Not too impressed with this location. First off, it’s freezing inside. They have a refrigerated food display with no door on it. Waste of energy & runs off guests — perhaps the point? The staff were more into entertaining one another then serving customers. One guy actually said «I’ll be with you in a minute» just so he could finish what he thought was witty repartee about a recent evening out. Like really? Think I’ll check out Peete’s.

Decent Starbucks in a great location in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego. This is a short distance away from the Hillcrest Farmers Market. The coffee shop is a bit on the smaller side. I felt like the space was a little bit too packed with some tight spaces. i did see a sign that they will be renovating this store though.
If you are not finding any seating inside, there is a nice outdoor patio seating area here. Though I would take a seat inside since the AC here is powerful. Making it a good place to cool off.
Had a basic grande iced vanilla coffee here. It was alright and typical of other locations I have ordered this from. The only thing is that I feel like there is always too much ice in it which makes me think twice about ordering this. Might have to request less ice next time.
If you are in the Hillcrest area, this Starbucks is a good spot to pick up a drink. If you are looking for a coffee shop to lounge at, this might not be it as the interior is smallish. But if outdoor seating is more your thing, in that case I would suggest this Starbucks as the patio seating area here is good.

This place has great location! Real nice to come to be pick up a refresher during the hot summer days! AC is always on! The patio is raised up from the street so you can look over people as they walk by! Great for people watching!
Tips: if u want hot tea get a tall and each time u can ask to refill with hot water! Save money!
Refreshers are great! N so are the shaken teas! Make sure u ask how many pumps of syrup or flavoring they add, sometimes can be much and can me change to less pumps for a healthier choice!
Small Starbucks, prob the smallest I seen. 10 tables inside and a couple outside.

I stopped by this Starbucks before an Elite event at The Great Maple. It was evening and the place was not that busy. I ordered the Grande Passion Iced tea because it was the only one that was decaf. (

I had the tea without sugar, and it did not need it anyways because its natural flavor had enough sweetness to make the tea enjoyable to drink. I like the tea, but I did not like it that they put to much ice in the drink, which made for less tea. I finished it rather quickly. The young ladies that were running the shop were pretty cool and gave me a good run down of all the teas Starbucks carries. Good service.
The place was well organized ready for the holidays.
