Really cool — the artist are really, really talented and it’s fun to walk around. Plus the event is free which is the best part. Stick around and hang out a the Ruby Room, there is always something fun going on there during and after the event– usually some kind of life music performance. Check it out! Definitely!!!

Each month, Hillcrest Art NItes grows and I am so thankful to all those who come out to support local art in San Diego. Last month’s event on June 17th grew with a few more artists in attendance(37 total this month!), the take over of the entire parking lot in front of The Ruby Room(& soon to open: The Ruby Kitchen), and great sales of art! Caryn Southland sold a piece before she’d even finished setting up and Franky Agostino and Kelly of Dark Vomit sold multiple pieces just to name a few! Incorporating original art, live art, local made accessories and even a handful of craft vendors, this event will continue to grow each month! Coming in July: moRe art + the much anticipated outside stage for live performance! July’s line up: Veronica May, Itai Faerman, Julia Sage and F.U.Z.Z. These performances are free to the public as is the entire event! Thank you again for the support and let us know of any suggestions to keep them moRe and moRe sUper!

being a habitant of the ‘hood, i went to the 1st one of these with great expectations. ho hum. i was disappointed at the lack of diversity art-wise. i was disappointed at the promotion or lack there of. and i don’t blame this on the artists and their booths, i commend them for being out there in the dark selling their wares. but really– can’t you liven this thing up a bit? more lights? more signs? perhaps some outside music/performers? do i need to try and take this thing over??? it could be really great with more effort. come on hillcrest.
