First off, I just want to say that when I first read the reviews for this place, I thought that everyone was just being harsh and over sensitive. Well they weren’t and I should have listened to them! I purchased an unlimited spray tan only membership($ 55 a month) in June of 2015. That same day I bought it, I wanted to tan. I got to wait a wonderful 45 minutes while one woman went into the mystic booth twice! Not only is that rude knowing others are waiting, but also irresponsible. The staff even told me they were shocked she did that because it’s bad for your PH levels and what not. So why didn’t they stop her?! Anyways besides that, about a month or so later I planned my day around being able to get my tan. I got to Hollywood Tans around 12:30−1PM and they told me they were out of the light tan solution! They told me to try the medium solution even though the couple times I asked about it, they told me it wouldn’t look good on me. When I said no to the medium, they told me to try coming back around 6PM because they might have a shipment of the tanning solution. Needless to say I was pretty mad and didn’t come back that day. I go to the Carmel Mountain and Oceanside locations as well because I’m frequently in that area. I’d say 1⁄3 to each location. Well yesterday, August 6, 2015, I went to the Carmel mountain location. I told the front desk girl my last name and she proceeds to ask me if I go to any other locations. I said yes and she told me she can’t see my record anymore because some locations were bought and they’re not under the same owners anymore and if I wanted to tan at Carmel mountain I needed to buy a whole new package from them since I’m under 4S ranch. Again I was pissed! When I signed up they told me I could go to ANY Hollywood Tan I wanted no problem. They didn’t even notify me about this change. I’m also very upset 4S ranch«claimed» me under them even though they made it very clear I could go anywhere, which I did many times before. I’m planning on canceling my membership because this place is an absolute joke. It’s not that hard to run a decent tanning salon, come on. I’m sure a lot of people are equally as upset as I am because Hollywood Tan breached their contract with me. At this point I’m going to have to look into some top self tanners or pay more money for a different tanning salon.

Always love getting my weekly spray tan! $ 40 for unlimited level one and $ 10 extra for unlimited spray tans which you can’t beat anywhere else!

They are always nice and accommodating. They have sales all the time that make the price reasonable. Make sure you know when your tans expire. Packages are only good for a year.

The only reason I tan here is because they are the only ones within running distance from my house… So congrats to you. I used to work for a tanning salon for years and I’ve never been a fan of Hollywood Tans because of all the complaints I would hear from customers walking in to my salon telling us how gross is was at Hollywood! Well since I’m getting married in June I needed to start tanning… Every time I go in there the girls look like they are in Pj’s and so unhappy to be there! They don’t know anything about their products and it is obvious because they don’t even try to get to to know the customer or what they are in for! #1 sales mistake! Also when I signed up I NEVER got a tour… I still don’t know where the bathroom is or where to get towels. I also was never showed how to use the booths so I don’t know how new tanners would know how! I also am SOGROSSED out by all the nasty hair, lotion smears, sticky stuff, etc all over their booths! I’ve been in multiple rooms on different days with different girls working… So it’s obviously a company issue. My goal is to be able to run further so I can run to a better tanning salon!

I go to the Hollywood Tans in Carmel Mountain – and so far I love it! It’s very clean, modern, and there’s never a wait to get inside a booth. My first day there I got a tour with descriptions of all of the beds(which are all stand-up – more sanitary) and suggestions on what I should do based on my needs and skin tone. Staff is very friendly, it’s the type of place where you’re in and you’re out. Quick, easy and effortless! The only reason it doesn’t get 5 starts is because one of the beds(the one with all of the mirrors) that I really want to try is currently broken and it’s been out for a couple of days. Other than that, There’s always some kind of deal or discount, highly recommend this salon!

Like others fine unless you need some service. I was told my mystic tans expire after a year ummmm never told me when I bought them. Also, before they got the new tanning machine the old one was broken all the time so at least 3 times I could not tan. So I paid for one a week ago and asked a manager to call me, A week later I call back and they say the manager has not been in for a few days. Okay I asked for a call 1 week ago and what kind of business has managers only in every few days and I was told there was only one manager. So basically you have a bunch of teenagers with no authority running your business?? Stay away…

Update: I spoke to the managers assistant today on the phone and she promised she was going to put my refund through. She claims she just heard about it although I find that unlikely because I was told by multiple sales people that she was made aware of the problem days ago. I would like to thank Erica at the Hillcrest location for helping me out so much with this issue and being so persistent in her attempts to reach management. She will be the reason if I ever decide to use Hollywood tans again. I have also had issues with them as far as charging me. There was a miscommunication with myself and a sales person over the phone: I thought she was just holding my card number to save a deal for when I came in but she actually charged it. I understand that these things happen but I explained that I needed the refund immediately and have been dragged around now for over a week. I’ve called repeatedly and even went into the store and have been told different things. One employee told me that the manager was extremely busy and would most likely not get to it for a while. I find that highly unacceptable. Another employee who said she is getting promoted to manager said that it was a top priority of theirs and that she would assure it got done immediately. Well it hasn’t and I’ve made several attempts to contact her including having another employee call her and leaving her a note at the store. I’m absolutely fed up. I go to college on the East Coast but whenever I come back for breaks I always go back and forth between iTans in Poway which is a bit cheaper and Hollywood Tans because it’s so close to my house. Well iTans certainly has my business now; they’ve been nothing but helpful and this place’s supposed friendly customer services is completely irrelevant if they just keep smiling and nodding their heads but not doing anything.

I’ve been tanning here for almost 2 weeks prepping for a trip and getting my base tan going. The girls that work here are super sweet and very helpful. They assisted in designing a tailored tanning plan(yes, I said plan) based on my skin tone, time available in my schedule and final goal. The salon is *always* pristine and clean from the booths to the restroom. They have a good variety of stand up booths to chose from and see what works best for you. The pricing is fine for what I was looking for… I did opt to go with a membership with a minimum 3 month commitment for their base booth, it will take me right up to summer but will more than likely keep it going because I just don’t have time to hang out at the beach/pool regularly… this is a quick and fast solution — in and out in under 15 mins with a killer tan… so unlike the tanning beds of decades ago. I love it here — convenient, priced well, great staff, super clean and an amazing variety of beds to chose from.

I have been an on again/off again member here for almost two years since the poway location closed. I often tan a few months out of the year, April-August and go dormant the rest. I have been here a few times since they have gotten new owners, and I still feel some of the girls are rude here. I went to get a spray tan and the girl that was suppose to help me did nothing but ring me up and point to the machine. Luckily, I had done it before, so I didn’t make a big deal out of it. But, when I when inside the room, there was no cap for my hair or towel, and I had to ask for some. The room and the machine looked dirty and up kept as well. The next time I went in there to inquiry about stand up bed prices the girl at the front desk was able to tell me about some specials I could take advantage of, and I was thankful. I have been in their beds before, and the HT54, mid level bed is a fair price per month of unlimited, and it gives me color without breaking the bank.

The salon is under new ownership and SO much better! There’s so much more energy and a great vibe. After receiving an email offer with a kind of «Hey we haven’t seen you in awhile» message, I decided to go back for some free tans. The owner Jill is awesome and the front desk girls and manager are so sweet and GENUINE! … Hard to find that in a tanning salon environment where usually the girls are stuck up snobs. I’ll be reactivating my monthly membership very soon because now I know I’ll just love coming here on my way home from work. Thanks girls!
