I came here today and got egg-plant, spare ribs and gin doy(sesame seed ball with sweet paste center). The egg plant dish was delicious — made with ginger, black sweet Chinese vinegar, minced pork and a little bit of red pepper. They could have put in more red pepper — but it was the best! The spare ribs(pork) were made with fermented black bean, onions and bell pepper. The bell peppers were crunchy and sweet — the pork was moist and full of flavor of the pork, black bean and pepper. I had fun cleaning the bones… to the bone. :-) The gin doy were weak. I loves those little babies… the taste of the seeds, the crunch of the outer shell, the aroma of the deep fried treat and the lovely sesame paste inside. Well, the gin doy here are ¾ the size of what I’m use to, they could have fried them a little longer because I like them a golden brown and I need to hear a soft crunch when I bite into them… and the paste inside these was neither generous or rich. I love them a lot though, so this was a welcome conclusion to an otherwise perfect meal! Oh! Maybe they should have 5 stars — the cost of the above was $ 10 and I have enough of the egg plant and spare ribs for a second meal. The people who run this little restaurant are Cantonese. They also have ducks hanging in the window. I will return for half of duck in the near future. One of my favorite meals is steamed white rice, BBQ duck and a wine like Cabernet or Zinfandel.

I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant due to two very strong recommendations from Asian foodies I trust, but my first experience this weekend was just alright. I was after two things: Hong Kong style golden fried noodles and dim sum. Unfortunately, we arrived after 2pm and there was virtually no dim sum left, just sticky rice, steamed spareribs and siu mai. Other restaurants I’ve been to are able to prepare to order even after peak traffic has waned, but once they’re sold out here, they’re sold out. We tried the steamed sticky rice and it wasn’t too memorable as it didn’t have a quail egg inside or lots of treasures other than a little Chinese sausage and a lot of rice. On the other hand, the noodles were great. I ordered a house special combination($ 10.95) which normally has every meat under the sun, and this one had a particularly large amount of fish and shrimp. Only two pieces of housemade char siu bbq pork was a bummer because it was really solid and lots of chicken. Service could have been a lot better. I don’t expect much from Chinese restaurants in general but our server seemed to ignore us more than is acceptable as it took forever for us to get menus, give our order and get the check.

We always get the BBQ pork with baby Bok choy over rice and recommend it. The chicken dim sum is good too.

So this place shut down for a couple of weeks supposedly due to gas leak, but I really think it was due to how dirty it was. Well it doesn’t matter because the food here is awful anyway. Nothing seems fresh here and it seems like they are reusing their food. Gross!

Came here thinking it was a restaurant but it’s actually a food to-go place with tables inside an Asian supermarket. Decided to give it a shot since we assumed these type of places will be delicious. Not the case. The service here is awful. The workers straight up ignored me and my family when asking for help to order food. Then, after ordering, food took 35 – 40 minutes to arrive. We’re talking about a dim sum size portion though(3 – 4 pieces max)… They were giving us attitudes for ordering more food or asking for water. Would not let us cancel food either even after we were already full and the food we ordered was not yet started to be made. Smh. Food was not good for the price or hassle we went through. It was not fresh either. Super unsanitary. Will NOT come back.

This place is terrible! The food is not fresh, they don’t cook the orders. The only thing that good here is white rice. We will never come back.

Do NOT get duck from here. I witnessed an employee wheeling a regular shopping cart with raw ducks hanging off of it! the ducks were brought to the kitchen. How disgusting

Not the fanciest of dim sum restaurants, if you call it a restaurant. I wasn’t sure because it was kind of connected to another Vietnamese restaurant or supermarket. It was small and didn’t have too much of a variety. But they had the traditional Dim Sum dishes, like BBQ pork buns, Sui Mai, Har Gow, Hon Sui Gok, Egg Tarts, Chicken feet, etc… Prices are good and tasted great. My only complaint was the food wasn’t as hot and fresh tasting as it should’ve been.

I’ve been here a couple times and they’ve been consistence with the quality(which isn’t necessarily superb but not necessarily bad either). I love the ham sui gok — it’s always chewy, fresh and perfectly crunchy whenever I get them. The shiu Mai is gigantic. The egg custard buns were extremely disappointing. They were dry, a bit too salty and I can barely taste the cream. I thought it was just a bad day for those buns but my second time getting them, it was the same . The service was great. But then again I went early in the morning, before the big lunch rush so they were able to give my table undivided attention. Would definitely come again

I go here for a quick fix when I want dumplings anytime. It may not be served in those carts like the fancier dim sum places like Pearls and Jasmine, but a couple orders of their Shu-Mai and Har-Gow will definitely satisfy your dim sum cravings. They have other traditional dim sum items like the egg tarts, BBQ pork buns, and Chicken feet. If you get the Har-Gow or Shu-Mai, they come with 4 pieces per order priced at $ 2.60. I also order steamed rice on the side to eat with my dim-sum. This is located inside of Vinh Hung. I recommend calling ahead to pick up, if not you can always order to-go and burn time walking around Vinh Hung. They also have a dining area as well. This is a great place to go for quick Dim Sum.

They make very good dim sum here. The food proportion is large. They don’t have many varieties but enough to keep you satisfied. Good dim sum place overall, will come again!

Looking for some Dim Sum we stopped in here on a whim not sure what to expect. I remember when this building used to be the movie theater back in the day. Some of the best and worst food can be found in ethnic food shops. They have a limited number of Dim Sum items. A total of 10 or 12 items over all. Huge selection of typical Chinese fair like sweet and sour chicken. The few Dim Sum items available were pretty good, not bad. Favorite in the group was the shrimp pork dumplings and the chicken wings. I liked the tofu rice. Plenty of tables but place was empty on a Friday afternoon. Place is set up more for family style dining. Service is typical no nonsense. Decent place for Dim Sum.

Their egg tart, baked custard buns and lotus rice are great, especially the price. Good BBQ pork, very lean and priced great but I like it a bit sweeter. Their baked BBQ pork bun was just ok as it was not sweet and shiny on top and soft like I prefer. Service is slow to non existant as they are busy helping to go orders and forget about you completely. Just get take out.

I heard the dim sum here was good, so I wanted to check it out. I was actually pretty disappointed on the selection size of dim sum. Very limited options. And they were out of some that I wanted. The ONLY good thing I liked here was the Pork & Shrimp Shiu Mai. Those were good sized portions, very meaty and juicy. CONS: 1. Steamed Spareribs in Black bean Sauce These were very chewy and slightly salty. it did not taste fresh. 2. BBQ Pork Bun WORSTBBQPORKBUNS i’ve EVER had in my whole life!!! I would have never thought I’d see the day where a Chinese place could mess up on something so simple like buns!!! The meat inside was dry and super minced mixed meat. It resembled nothing like BBQ Pork. Horrible. 3. Roast Pork & Rice WORSTROASTPORKEVER!!! I swear they gave me a few days old dried up roast pork. It was extremely dry!!! The dipping sauce didn’t make it any better. I also requested fried rice instead of steamed rice. All they gave me was rice that was stir fried with egg. Not authentic fried rice. And even the rice was dry. 4. Seafood Hot Pot This dish was decent. It was a large portion filled with plentiful of seafood meats and large fried tofu. Only complaint was that the sauce is too slimy. Overall, I think it was a big waste of $ 45. P. S. I’d also like to mention that our server was a super smart ass cocky chinese dude. I tried to ask him how much the BBQ Pork & Oyster hot pot currently was because its a seasonal price. And he said«Why don’t you order it and have me cook it, then I can tell you the price» And then I asked him what is inside the Deluxe Hot Pot, not knowing that my boyfriend had already asked that question, and he was like«Well why don’t I just repeat it again for you?» and didnt even answer the question!!! Never coming back here again.

I love this place… I always get the shrimp dumplings, egg tart, and sesame balls. I don’t have to go to Convoy anymore to get some real authentic dim sums because this place is two blocks away from home. Yay ! This is by far the best dim sum place in Mira Mesa. Try it for yourself.

Came in for lunch because my sister and I were craving dim sum close to where we live. Sad to say our cravings were not satisfied. It’s not your usual dim sum place with the servers and carts but we knew that out the gate. They do not have a lot of options when it comes to the dim sum really only saw 3 things that we would eat. Ordered Shumai, har gau(sp?) and sesame balls with red bean. The shumai was supposedly to have both pork and shrimp but it was def more pork than shrimp. The har gau was dry and overcooked. Sesame balls, good. Because our options were limited we opted to order from the full menu. Ordered honey walnut shrimp and if you know me I’m serious about my honey walnut shrimp. Looked a lot better than it tasted. My sister had a piece and she said it was missing something. I had a piece and off the bat I knew exactly what it was, it wasn’t sweet. Like how is your honey walnut shrimp not sweet? The fried rice was bland. I ended up adding both sugar to the shrimp and soy sauce to the rice. I wasn’t aware that I was the one who was supposed to season the food. There was what I assumed to be a pepper shaker on the table but I wasn’t sure so I put a little on a plate and tasted it, nothing, tasted like dust. Seriously? That’s why the foods bland they’re seasoning with dust. But anyway. Eh. Not impressed.

Maybe I didn’t treat you, quite as good as I should Maybe I didn’t love you, quite as often as I could Little things I should’ve said and done, I never took the time You were always on my mind Pet Shop Boys — Always On My Mind Whoa! New chairs, floor, table coverings, and new wait staff. I don’t recognize the place anymore… For over 10 years this was my go to Chinese food place with the girlfriend. Kinda stopped coming as I dreaded those awkward words from the wait staff: «where’s the girlfriend?» A reminder of the past… I should start this off by stating my love of the bbq pork here. Fairly lean pork with an awesome aroma and flavor. Also the egg noodles they use here also has a flavor I really love. Onto the dishes: Bbq pork pan fried noodles is one of my fav dishes here. Served steaming hot the aroma rises up with the steam equal parts sauce and bbq pork. So good! Excellent blend of flavor from the sauce, bbq pork, and egg noodles. Bbq pork chow mein dry style is excellent. Great combination of flavors from the green onions, egg noodles and bbq pork. Har gow is very good. The wrapper has a neutral flavor while the shrimp filling is very tasty. Siu mei is excellent. Love the flavor of the pork, shrimp, and won ton wrapper. Red bean sesame balls are an excellent dessert. Sweet rice based pastry surrounding delicious red bean paste.

This review is ONLY negative one star for the service. Yeah the food is good, and no I’m no cheap but the menu is very misleading. So I would hope this restaurant would better their menu since it is Good. It says«28.99» or something for the Peking duck. The guy asked if we wanted a half or a whole and we asked how much is half and he says he only serve whole so why would you even ask us the option of half? So I paid and looked at the receipt. $ 39.99? Well that’s strange. Called the guy over and we started arguing. He said oh well that’s because you got the whole duck that came with everything. Well that’s what we asked in the beginning. APPARENTLY, $ 28.99 is only for the duck skin. Well that’s fine it was enjoyable just wish that the servers were more descriptive in their knowledge on the menu.

Lets talk about their food, honestly the food here is delicious! I personally love their salted pepper chicken wings, I highly recommend you giving those a try. I haven’t tried their dimsum yet so I can’t give you an opinion on that. I would also suggest you order their roasted duck, its perfectly crispy and delicious. Lets move on to customer service, they are extremely friendly here and everytime I come in they greet me with a smile. They are always ready to come whenever you need them, plus they don’t ignore you. Your water will never run out because once your cup is half empty, they will come over to refill it without you needing to ask. Okay now location of the restaurant. I personally HATE that their restaurant is located inside a supermarket. I believe they can get more customers and more business if they move the location of their restaurant. The supermarket they’re located in isn’t the cleanest, I personally find the supermarket area rather messy. Also it kinda gets annoying when you’re dining in and you keep hearing the check out sound while you eat. If you need to go to the bathroom you would need to leave the restaurant area and walk across the supermarket. The bathroom alright, not too bad like other supermarkets.
