I’ve never written a review of Jake’s but have been here several times. Was considering going in tonight but saw that they posted this message on their website, and their LASTDAY was NOVEMBER15, 2014. JAKE’s on 6th is CLOSED: «It is with a heavy heart that after almost 6 years of wonderful people, fun times, great food, delicious wine, and crafty beer the Jake’s on 6th family has decided it’s time to move on to our next life adventure. This has been a very difficult and emotional decision for all of us and we are so sad to say goodbye. Jake’s on 6th has been a home to us, a place that brought us into a community of wonderful people that have become a part of our extended family. It was the site of many first dates, marriage proposals, birthday celebrations, wedding receptions, and on and on. These memories will be forever in our hearts as we move on to the next chapter. The greatest part of Jake’s on 6th is our customers. There are no words that can express the love and gratitude we feel towards all of you. Jake’s on 6th would not be the same without all of you. You filled it with friendship and laughter. Thank you for being a part of this amazing journey with us. Jake’s on 6th’s last day will be on Saturday, November 15, 2014. Please come celebrate our last day with us as we share stories and say goodbye to our little place Thank you for a wonderful 5 ½ years, we will miss you all tremendously.» RIP.

Tonight is the last night Jake’s is open, folks. If you’ve missed it just know it was warm and friendly– always a good time. So sorry they’re moving on… My family has celebrated birthdays and PRIDE there. Also, the occasional beer or wine with delicious dishes. Fare Thee Well, Jake’s! Rebecca

Really no reason why I shouldn’t give a 5 star review for Jake’s. I’ve always known about Jake’s but never really had a desire to go since I’m not a wine drinker. That has all changed. I ended up here one afternoon while waiting for my haircut appointment next door. I sat at the bar and was greeted by a friendly bartender with short black hair. She was great and I noticed how well she took care of all her other customers. When I first walked in I was maybe one out of a dozen people in the whole place. This quickly changed as a flood of people started showing up. Apparently I was in the middle of a speed dating event. What did I get myself into?!! After being asked a few times if I was there for the event I was questioning if I should stay. I didn’t want to be that weird stalker guy sitting at the corner of the bar by himself. Creeping on all the single lady’s! That all was remedied after making friends with some of the other friendly patrons. This wine bar has a warm, friendly, inviting feel to it. I’ve been multiple times and always strike up conversations with some random strangers. There always seems to be an event or meet up groups that come here. Maybe it’s all the wine that make people so friendly here :-p s Yes, it is a wine bar but they also have a great selection for draft and bottled beers. Cheese, fruit plates, panini sandwiches, all the salads I’ve had are always fresh and tasty. The spicy jake panini and the Mediterranean salad are my favorites. Jakes is a great place to come socialize, meet some fun people, eat good food and enjoy some great drinks! BTW check out their website for all kinds of great deals and happy hour specials.

What can I say about jakes… 1. They’re ALWAYS there for me. Nothing ever compares to a server who treats you like a friend. One name always comes to mind– Jennifer 2. Wine and beer bites– prosciutto bits are to die for not not mention the cheese plates that are HUGE! 3. THEYDONTWASTEWATERIN A DROUGHT! I’d rather ask for a waster that have someone waste it. It hurts my heart as a die-hard Californian and humanitarian. I really appreciate the way they work. It really isn’t that hard to say«I’m thirsty, thank you». On a lighter niter– I’ve met Jake, what a nice guy! You shou never have a problem getting your needs met here. Love these girls/guys!

I might need to give this place another chance if it has a 4.5 nearly 5 star review. I went here with two friends near closing time after having dinner and wine at a nearby restaurant. There were a couple of other groups in the lounge and bar area but I wouldn’t say it was packed. The reason why I mention this is because our server/bartender failed to get us waters during our whole experience. The other thing that made it very odd was that we were sitting at the bar and she was right in front of us. I love the wine selection and the open terrace and seating, so I want to give this place another chance when it is not near closing. I think the service or the service of that bartender should be stepped up a notch. Edit: The owner’s daughter wrote back informing me since we were in a CA drought they only serve water upon request. Totally don’t want to be wasteful of water but I would appreciate a friendly sign or mentioning of it.

Nightly Happy Hours from 4 – 7! Monday Special — 50% off bottles Tuesday Special — 25% off bottles and HH all night. We tried the hummus and the pesto bruschetta. They were the perfect amount of apps to share for a small group. The patio is small, but intimate and there are couches, bar seating and regular tables in the space.

Awesome spot to grab some wine with friends. Came on a Friday night after dinner with friends. There was plenty of room for us which I loved for an intimate night to connect and converse with good people. Not sure which wine to get? They offer 3 different flights of wine. I hope to try the food and the happy hour specials!

Cozy little place with a nice atmosphere. Admittedly I only come here during happy hour, and to be even more specific I only come here on Wednesdays when they offer $ 10 wine flights. They have a white, red, and a bubble flight, and since I am a huge fan of sparkling wine I get the bubble flight(or 3). They also have some great food here, and the prices are extremely reasonable. A great place for a first date, or to meet up with friends after work to drink the stress away! Their meat and cheese board is not to be missed!

I recently hosted a meetup group at this restaurant on a whim – all I saw were the good Unilocal reviews and thought it would be a nice place to try. First of all, I was impressed with how they accommodated our(unexpected) group of about 13 girls. This is not an extremely large place and yet they were able to get us all at the couches which made for an absolutely perfect setting for our event. Then, the waitress suggested we get two of the samplers for our group – a perfect suggestion. This allowed us to try a variety of cheeses and meats, all while sipping yummy wine and sparkling from their detailed menu. Overall it was a great venue for the event. I’m personally more of a hearty appetite person, but the food was really good, the strawberry sparkling I had was delicious, and the atmosphere was classy and warm. My next time here will probably be for wine with a few girlfriends.

Friday night happy hour= sophisticated chick city. Walked in and seriously, it was all girls.(There’s a tip for you boys out there…) Rolled in around 5pm. $ 2 off glasses, $ 10 of bottles and there are some $ 5 eats(italian or spanish tapas, cucumber caprese and or a cheese plate). Aside from happy hour, they do have an extensive food and wine menu. They have a great wine list, and I mean great. It was hard to choose just one since we were only going to stay for a little bit. Got a great white blend from paso robles and it was sweet, crisp, full with hints of pear. They do a better job of explaining all the flavors under each glass description. My friend got a pinot noir from russian valley. I think it was a $ 15 glass but it was an amazing pinot noir. Highly recommend it. The spanish tapas consist of olives, parmesan cheese(2 thin slices), proscuitto and dressed garbanzo beans. The italian has salami instead of proscuitto. Happy hour is from 5 – 7. There’s also an Oscar’s Mexican joint nearby that just opened 3 weeks ago to get some real food in.

I came out here to scout out a wedding venue – I wasn’t disappointed. This is such a beautiful location – everything from the polished concrete to the reclaimed wood tables(not to mention the recessed dim lights) – make for such an intimate evening. Jennifer was such an accommodating host! She answered all of our questions and was super friendly – despite it being busy… I’m convinced – this place has the whole package. You’ll be seeing us again!

First time I visited here it was a last minute decision while we waited to eat dinner somewhere else. We sat at the bar and were given friendly recommendations about what kind of wine to try. There was one of those painting and wine events going on which looked fun. Second time here was for book club and I always admire when servers handle larger groups well. Meaning, they are friendly, check in on us often, and yes, SPLIT the tab! Our server did all three and was fun. They have happy hour until 7 and for Thursdays it’s $ 2 off wine and they have a short menu of food for the HH. The cheese sticks aka cheese panini sliced up and served with marinara was carb-o-licious and the small cheese plate was actually quite large and satisfied the appetites of my friend and I who were sharing it. The patio is nice, the interior is casual and pretty with a positive buzz about it. It’s a place I will enjoy and enjoy often.

I have been to this place soooo many times. :) Great spot to meet up with friends, I have only eaten here a few times so my review is based on the wine. The wine options are great! They offer daily specials and happy hour of course! I love that it is pet friendly on the patio and the bartendars are always really friendly. This is NOT one of those places you get a snobby bartendar that hates to answer questions about the wine. :) I reccomend to all… I gave it 4 stars instead of five because I have eaten a few times but honestly can not recall what I had … which means it wasn’t amazing but I will try the food again for sure. Also, parking can be a pain. Now that I live in the area this will not be a problem anymore. :)

I poked my head in here last night for a little wine tasting and I must say, I am digging this joint! At about 6:00 the bar was almost empty but that didn’t last long. An hour later it was bursting at the seams, corks were popping and a slew of $ 10.00 wine flights(special for last night only) were being served. I was hanging solo dead center of the bar and the crowd on both sides of me weren’t shy to strike up a good game of chit chat. We were all fast friends and spent the next few hours getting to know each other while sipping vino. To top it all off there was some quality entertainment in the form of a speed dating group gathering in the back of the room. They had nice looking cheese boards laid out on each table and every time the bell would ring they would move onto the next person. Highly entertaining and very gutsy — props to those in the speed dating group! One of the regulars told me that this was«the spot» to come to for Pride. A great view of the parade, a really fun crowd, excellent wine and clean bathrooms… sold! See you sooner than later, Jake’s!

There is nothing about Jakes I don’t love! The wine selection is impressive and delicious and the happy hour is great! The wine tastings come out in this cool 4 glass holder and the pours are generous!!! We came back here for their wine and cupcake pairing and each wine and cupcake tasted better than the next! We ordered off the appetizer menu and the goat cheese red pepper bruschetta was fantastic as was the Parmesan and pesto bruschetta. The staff is super friendly and attentive. They have great outdoor seating and cozy couches to sit back and sip if you prefer not to sit at the bar. They have great salads to choose from as well and the cheese plates are delicious. Jakes is a great wine bar and I always enjoy stopping by to see what their wine specials are and u will too!!!

Jake’s seems to be picking up speed these past 6 months — good for you! James Judd & Sons on HH for $ 15/bottle — that’s amazing. This winery is a great one out of Paso, and I am so pleased that Jake carries this gem! Still not a destination for foodies, but who needs food when you have wine and friends? See you soon!

Saturday happy hour review! Decided to give this place a try for some happy hour fun. It was a warmer day and we thought some snacks and a bottle of white would be refreshing. The layout is spacious and it was pretty empty. Grabbing a couch we sat down with happy hearts. The fruit plate was really big and had a great selection of cheese! We also split a sandwich, which was pretty big! I even took half of it come and ate it for lunch the next day. The wine bottle deals are legit. Our server did not know a thing about any of the wines which was surprising. Also they were out of one of the bottles on special and did not offer another in its place. Over all for a larger group I would say this spot is a good choice. I would be open to coming here again, but I like Wetstone better.

Stopped in for Happy Hour. Loved the open space and ambiance. There is ample indoor seating and patio seating(for your furry friends!). We opted to take over the comfy sofa against the wall. They have daily Happy Hour specials. It just so happen that during this visit the HH special was $ 10 flights(reg. $ 14). I chose the white flight — Heinz Eifel Riesling, Gaga White Blend, Tiamo Pinot Grigio, and Ancient Peaks Sauvignon Blanc. Pours were really generous for our flights. YAY! Unfortunately, didn’t order anything off the menu but they had a variety of food items that I would love to try when I return. Really friendly service and the bartender was serving the whole establishment — SUPERWOMAN! Free street parking after 6p on weekdays and Sundays; otherwise, bring spare change just in case you arrive a little earlier than the 6pm time.
