I have eaten here several times and it always makes me stomach hurt. It’s not a terrible feeling, but definitely not normal. No one else I have eaten with ever complains about their stomach so maybe I just can’t handle it or something. It does taste good. I always get the chicken shawarma sandwich. The guy who works here is nice but when they get a few people ordering it slows the whole place down since there is usually only one or two other people here working.

They really do have some of the best Middle Eastern in SD, at least that I have tried so far. I love their Gyro sandwich and my GF always gets their schwarma and it’s good every time. They have a pretty big menu and I’m ready to start trying other things. It’s cheap and quick and I love how their sandwiches come with a little side salad. The guy who runs this place is always in here and very nice. You order at the counter and he brings the food out to you. For under 8 $ we have a full lunch and are out the door within 30 mins. I love when we stop here before my GF heads into work I always know lunch is gonna be good at this spot! They are also open late on the weekends for the bar crowd!

Looking around PB trying to find a good and quick meal and found Kabob Island. Walking into it, its not much to look at in there. Old chairs, Old walls, just a little down of décor and ambience. Although, The food is the reason we are here and not just to judge of the types of chairs they have. We both order a Gyro Plate(#17) and my partner order their Gyro Chicken plate(#16). It was very good. The pita was very warm, and the meat was a good temperature. Comes out with a Salad as well. The salad was pretty good, simple yet good. The Gyro was good as well too. The only problem i will have to say is the size. The Gyro is pretty small and the smallest i have ever seen. After consuming it down, i didn’t feel full and still felt a little hungry afterwards. You can see that this place is a hole in the wall. Some of the best food comes from small mom n pop shops. Here the food is pretty good! my partner says that the Gyro taste very close to how they used to taste back in Saudi Arabia. Overall Good Time and Good Eats!

Just went in here for a work lunch with my friend and this is WITHOUT A DOUBTTHE *BEST* GREEKFOOD I’VEHADINSANDIEGO. We both got the chicken shawarma plate; chicken and rice is very flavorful, salad is fresh and well-dressed. Also got the Appetizer Plate and everything is absolutely on point. Have to say that I’m impressed, and I’ve eaten a lot of Greek in my life. Owner is super nice and accommodating. Don’t order online b/c the system is a bit screwed up — call or order inside the restaurant.

This is my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant in San Diego. Good food and prices are really reasonable. I saw one review that complained about the prices and I want to know where they found lower prices than this place. I always get the Chicken Shwarma and love it every time!

I walked in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The place was empty and I was apparently helped by the owner. Who was on his phone on speaker the entire time I was giving him my order. I ordered the chicken wrap and had to repeat«no tomatoes, but please add cheese» 5 times! FIVETIMES! Do NOT attend your guests while you are on the phone! I continued my order in hopes the food would be good. It was disgusting! The fries were undercooked and the chicken was cold, dry and could tell I was given the chicken that had sat out for a while. The owner is a disgust of a business owner to treat guests that way and then give them horrible food!

Been here before and could have sworn the prices were much lower. Yep, went on their online website, lies!!! They raised everything $ 1 or more! Confirmation — -false advertisement online! Anywho, can’t say i’d ever come back again, but if for some reason I do I’d only get the chicken shawerma. Everything else is just blahhhhh. The dolmas are super tiny, and EXTREMELY salty!!! SALTEEEEEeeee! Dolmas are usually my favorite, but they were a huge disappointment; I think they should def try the food they prepare because if they did there is absolutely no way they’d serve them. I’m not even exaggerating! The Tabbouleh tasted more like a bowl of parsley. Not good at all! The hummus was decent, you can’t really mess up hummus though. The only good items to get is the chicken shawerma because the garlic tahini sauce and tzatziki sauce are and the Greek salad is pretty big and worth the price. I’m just going to add a picture of their online menu price and my receipt for the appetizer combo just to prove their prices have raised!!!

This is my families go to restaurant! The food here is ALWAYS fresh, perfectly seasoned and delicious. The family that owns this restaurant is so very sweet, hospitable and friendly. I love the chicken kabob plate — the chicken is always juicy and yummy. The garlic sauce is to die for! As is their green mint chutney. All the sandwiches/wraps are perfect if you’re on the go. The service here is quick and served with a smile. I highly recommend this place if you’re headed to the beach and looking for some good fast food. Thanks Kabob Island for all the good food!

We just had Kabob Island cater our company lunch for 30 people. I have 30 very happy & full coworkers! We ordered gyro sandwiches, falafel sandwiches, meat & veggie sambousaks, falafel, and hummus with pita. Everyone was very satisfied and I heard not one complaint! Personally, I ate the falafel sandwich and was not disappointed. It has just enough kick that if you eat it with the tzatziki, it’s perfect. The hummus is amazing: a perfect blend! Not too salty, too garlicky, or too bland. I also noticed that he does not skimp on the tomatoes in the salad like some places. I also ate here a couple weeks ago by myself to try it out before having him cater, so I will note that there is only the owner working behind the counter, at least at lunchtime during the week. Service is a little slow. He definitely needs help, but he is so sweet & friendly, you can’t be annoyed. That said, he had our very large order ready on time and delivered it free of charge(we’re right around the corner).

I found this place a few months ago and am SO, SO happy to have found it! Yes, it is not overly fancy or pretentious, but when it comes to tasty Mediterranean food, it certainly delivers! Stop in and try it — you will not be disappointed! My favorite is the chicken schwarma — the chicken is quite well prepared, never dry, and seasoned well. The rice is simple and delicious and the garlic paste is to die for! The accompanying salad is similarly seasoned nicely and compliments the dish well. The family-run business is a welcomed addition to the Garnet food scene and is a great place for a delicious take-out meal or a quick dine-in!

Mmmm mmmm mmmm. Had kebbah and chicken kakob meal. Didn’t look like a lot of food, but I left stuffed. Also the chicken ess cooked perfectly! Really hot, but very juicy and tender! The guy who rung me up and made my food were also very friendly and nice.

No idea how Unilocalers are giving this place 4.5 stars. Went there last night and ordered 2 dishes: The Baba Ghanoush as an appetizer The Meat Lovers plate as my main. The Baba Ghanoush was good, and I would definitely order that again. And the owner was very friendly and affable person. My problem: the meat lovers plate however was outright bad. The meats just were not good at all; many of them were overly dry, and the flavors just weren’t there. I would never order any of the meats in the meat lovers plate again, and considering that this included chicken, lamb, and beef I pretty much got to sample what most of their dishes would taste like. The side salad and the rice that came with it were fine, but the main entrée meats were below blah in my opinion. :( I have been to many counter style Mediterranean places before, and with respect to the entrée, this was far below what I have ever had at any other place. Maybe it was just an off-night, but I certainly wouldn’t go there again to order any of the main plates. If friends took me there again, besides the baba ghanoush, I might give an gyro«wrap: a try, as the gyro meat wasn’t terrible, but it certainly wasn’t very good in a «plate style»…however, in a wrap with all the sauce, etc., it might be fine.

Another great Mediterranean place in PB! I’m going to get spoiled and never leave here, even tho I am a bazillion times older than everyone else that lives here. We had the tabouleh and lahm ba’jeen for starters. The tabouleh was a HUGE portion for $ 4. It was pretty good, nothing over the top. The Lahm Ba’jeen is a flat bread with finely ground lamb, beef, tomatoes, herbs and pine nuts. Again, for $ 3.50 this was a nice little treat. For the mains I had the chicken schwarma plate with rice and it was super tender and flavorful. My BF had the meat sampler, which came with gyro, ground beef, chicken and lamb kabobs; everything was great. For $ 28 we got a lot of food, plus some leftovers. Also, when we walked in, there were a lot of Mediterranean people, so I knew it was going to be good! It turned out that a lot of them were family, but if it’s good enough for them, it’s certainly good enough for me. The owner was extremely friendly as well.

The very nice man behind the counter promised me that the salmon kebab was also«very nice,» and I was pretty happy with it. It was a little more done than my taste, but the spicy yogurt/mayo condiment they provided was key. It would have been better if there were a lot more of it. Portions are relatively small, unless you like to fill up on rice.

Don’t take this place too seriously and it will not disappoint. I have read a couple of reviews that review«garden fresh flavors» and other gourmet details. With due respect to those reviews, let’s just keep this simple. For a quick bite or take-out, this place is a must try. Having had some outstanding shawarma throughout Southern California and Lebanon, this place is spot on. My husband had the gyro sandwich and agreed that he would definitely go back again. The only disappointment was that we tried to order a cheese pie at 5pm on a Friday but the oven was shut down for the afternoon. We also tried to stop by here a couple of weeks ago at 1130pm on a Saturday and it was closed. The hours on the website state that they’re open until 2am. So, have an alternate if you’re looking for something to eat past 11pm. If you’re on the fence about this place, go! You’ll be glad that you did.

Located in the heart of the PB strip. We were admitedly a little out of place but thought we would give it a try based on our fondness for this type of cuisine. Food is decent but not remarkable. Prices are resonable although our hummus order could have used a little more pita bread. People working there were nice. Restaurant décor was drab. Left without any real complaint but felt, for us, a return trip wasn’t likely in the cards.

I stopped into the Island after a day at the beach. I quickly ordered their traditional Greek Salad with chicken,( ) and some of their Greek Iced Tea made with black tea, mint, and lemon.( ) The Greek salad was very good. The flavors were spot on, especially the chicken marinade that came on the the chicken; however, although it had a nice developed crust and flavors, it was a little dry at the end.( ) On their window, they advertise they they use some of the best feta cheese in town. Well. they do have a good reason to brag, because the feta not only had excellent flavor, but very good density and texture.( ) I would like to know where they get there feta. I really enjoyed the fresh salad ingredients, but I especially enjoyed the sliced Persian cucumbers. They were crisp, crunchy, and had a great backyard fresh garden flavor.( ) To my surprise, the salad was not served with sliced pita bread, like most Greek Salads, but the salad still stood well on its own. The Greek salad dressing was light and refreshing and help with the salty kalamata olives. The people who work here were friendly enough. The gentlemen behind the counter prepping food, and putting orders together, were very quiet and focused.
