First, let me say I have – up until recently – had coverage through Scripps. The Scripps website is supremely easy to navigate, identify/select medical professionals, locate information, etc. The care was superb. We recently made the decision to shift my coverage to a plan through my husband’s employer. He’s had Kaiser, and we did have the option to change to an alternate provider, which would have allowed me to stay with Scripps. Kaiser, however, is building a brand new facility very convenient to our home and we thought keeping him with Kaiser and moving me to that plan would be a reasonable choice. SOFAR, BIGMISTAKE. I filled out the paperwork, my husband signed, and his company’s HR submitted to Kaiser Permanente. Despite passage of time, no info arrived. The HR folks checked, yes, I’m covered and we should have had member info. FINALLY, member info arrived. Problem 1: It had been sent to a prior address – that was NOT on the application form – and then forwarded to our local address. Mind you, we’d spent a couple of months trying to straighten out a problem when we’d consolidated households a year ago, and I know his member info had transferred to our local address, so why the reversion to an address that’s no longer ours??? Problem 2: I was assigned to a service area that was no where near EITHER our former address or current address. Really? Problem 3: I can not register the membership on-line or select doctors because of the erroneous service area. The website is poorly designed. Or perhaps it’s intentionally designed to NOT offer useful information or mechanisms/communication channels to solve problems. Problem 4: The member service folk(which by the way take an hour to get to a human being) can not help me change addresses or service area assignments. Ummm. «Member Services???» Problem 5: Members services can not assist with information related to facility locations or doctor assignments. Again, let me point out the obvious: «member services.» Bless her, the member services rep was all kinds of apologetic about what she could not do for me. My advice to others DONOTSELECTKAISERIFYOUHAVETHEOPTION. HUGE waste of my time. I am NOT«THRIVING». ..
