Kettner Nights

Went to this event with some new friends. The host was Harley Davidson and the food, drink and band was great. All was free (for Donations) to a good cause, USO. We walked to the area but parking looks to be a hard thing to come by. Walked through the art galaries and seen some incredible works from various artists. Will attend this event again.

WHEN: Kettner Nights is a Little Italy event that is held every 2^nd Friday of the month consisting of an art and furniture walk mostly. The last one we attended was the May 2013 Kettner nights.
WHAT: Art galleries and furniture stores open 6 – 9 pm and usually serve some kind of complimentary wine or food so it’s a chill, good time walking around drinking and eating and seeing a whole bunch of cool art… and sometimes very interesting art… like the penis gallery… Many of the same galleries are open but they rotate their art so there is always something new to see and some galleries are only open some months.
WHERE: North end of Little Italy just before reaching the Casbah on the north end. It’s on Kettner around 98 bottles, HOM, and Harley Davidson store and some galleries are open by Bottlecraft on the next street over. Many of these art galleries are hidden! I would never have known they were there since most of them are inside this larger building and are divided up into smaller galleries without a storefront.
PERKS: There is usually an establishment that is the «host.» Every other month Harley Davidson hosts and serves a nice spread, buffet of food, complimentary drinks including beer and wine, and a live band. Tips for the bartenders benefit the USO. They are the best host by far. They aren’t usually the artsy crowd… afterwards we don’t see any of the bikers at the art galleries. Also it’s also cool to see the planes fly right over your head in this area of town but plug your ears!
CONCLUSION: We have gone 3 times now and it’s always been a good time. It’s nice to have a casual date night or go with friends and walk through India through Little Italy and then over to Kettner once you get north enough. I feel like this is a great but not well-​known event. Hopefully it doesn’t get too crowded after I write this! We will still be back though!

Held on the second Friday of every month, Kettner Nights is a fun outing in Little Italy’s Art & Design District. Several art galleries are open late (some serving small treats to visitors), art vendors are scattered throughout the district, and the Harley Davidson store has free food, drinks, and a live band. When you’re done checking out all the creativity, sit down for dinner at 98 Bottles or El Camino.
