Pricey but delicious food. Had egg drop soup and vegetable fried rice. Large portions. Would definitely go again. Got the food to go, bar tender was nice enough to give me some water while I waited.

The food was good, the service as well… they had just«ran out» of dim sum when we arrived though. We were looking forward to having dim sum there. The décor is fun and authentic and the location is great.

Pretty good food. We had the noodles, fried rice, Kung app chicken and the Mongolian beef. We ordered take out but while waiting for our food, we checked out the place and it was very cozy and relaxing atmosphere.

The service was great and the mojitos were great! However, if you want to spend $ 60 on JUST dim sum, do yourself a favor and go to a real dim sum restaurant that actually specializes in them. It wasn’t just the price of the food, the quality was just average at best. Our food was obviously not cooked fresh but instead reheated. The flavor on the BBQ spare ribs were delicious, but you would bite into sections of the rib that wasn’t even properly reheated and was still cold! The dim sum were chewy, which means they were left over from the day menu. Overall, kind of a disappointment.

Best Chinese downtown no question but not comparable to Spicy House or Spicy City or any of the Chinese spots in Kearny Mesa. I love the sweet and sour fish… and the orange chicken are bomb.

First let me start by challenging the Unilocalers that gave this place a sub par rating. Just because a place doesn’t seat you right away or the portions aren’t big enough for you, don’t rant on about your bad experience. I went in with my wife because I had a coupon. I go on Unilocal to see what other dinners think about their experience. I almost didn’t go because of the negative feed back. This is some of the best Chinese food I’ve had. Ok we wanted dim sum and they were out Oh well next time. There are plenty of other stuff to eat. This place gets 4 stars from me !!

I love the food here. I’m a very picky eater. I had two different waiter Joseph and Christian they’re both great server. I give 5 star to the food and service. I really recommend this place if your looking for great Chinese food. They even have dim sum. You can’t go wrong with anything. I’ve been here enough to recommend this place.

I saw this place in my neighborhood and on Groupon, so I decided to check it out. I placed my order online,(and unfortunately was not able to redeem a Groupon through this method). It was ready to pick up shortly after I walked over to the restaurant. My first impression was that it was super cute on the inside. It looked like a cozy little atmosphere for an awesome date night. Unfortunately, the food did not measure up. It was quite greasy and overly sauced. I’d prefer Pick Up Stix any day. This food definitely left us feeling bloated, unhealthy, and remorseful. I really wish there were more healthy options for dining out. At $ 30 with no beverages, this place was not inexpensive either. I cannot speak for the drinks, but I will definitely not be returning for food here.

First Timers on 10÷06÷15 for My Dad’s B-Day Nice and casual place, received Excellent Service ! from Christian(I think he is Manager/Owner — Not Sure) Food was also very good, right on point with the seasoning.

We were thrilled to have Chinese food after a rainy day in San Diego. The service was great. However, we got food poisoning from the Chinese chicken salad or cashew chicken. Honestly — wish it was a different experience but 4 days later, and 2 days off work, we are dying. I’m sorry I had to write this.

First and foremost, the service is always on point. I eat here minimum 2 days a week. I live across the street, but convenience has nothing to do with it: I would literally drive from Texas to California to bask in the greatness that is Lucky Lui’s Chicken Wings(capitalized out of respect for the Wing Gods). I’ve yet to find one dish I dislike, but if you’re a first timer I recommend starting with the chicken wings. For an entrée, try the honey-glazed walnut shrimp, orange chicken, or beef with broccoli.

I had heard about Lucky Liu’s and was excited about a dim sum/Chinese food place opening up downtown. I purchased a Living Social for $ 50 and tried it out, but sadly, it was quite disappointing. We were told that the Living Social could only be used on entrees and we had to get four of them(this is not in the T&C of the purchase), alcohol is not included, and the dim sum machine was broken so they didn’t have any dim sum anyway. After taking a glance at the menu, none of the entrees were less than $ 13, so even if we had gotten the cheapest of entrees, we would have still gone over our $ 50 Living Social. That was a bummer and my friend and I did not particularly want to eat four entrees, but figured Chinese leftovers are delicious so why not? We ordered the shrimp fried noodles, kung pao chicken, honey walnut shrimp, and buddha’s delight. Everything tasted okay. That’s about it. The chicken and vegetables were extremely salty and saucy. As in, overly saucy and sticky to the point where it was overbearing the rice. The noodles in the shrimp fried noodles were not crispy before the sauces were mixed in, and did not have the same taste that I am used to in traditional fried noodles. The honey walnut shrimp tasted great though! Tasted just like honey walnut shrimp should taste. Our server was pretty attentive, as we were the only ones in the restaurant. However, you could tell that she really would rather us have not been there. All in all, the prices aren’t terrible, but it’s the same taste as you would expect from a take out restaurant down the street, but even then, probably not as good. Lucky Liu’s has a nice ambiance, and I will probably try and go again when their dim sum machine is working, but I was unimpressed with the entrees, unfortunately.

Walked in with my family tonite. Party of 4. No hostess so bartender says sit wherever you want. Not wanting to be next to TV, bathroom or next to one of the other two couples in the restaurant(that should have been a huge red flag) we decided to push two small tables together. Well you would have thought the world ended. JOSH«the manager» says to us, «you people have obviously had too much to drink, so we’re not going to serve you.» Funny because two of us don’t drink. We live one block away and eat here or order pick up every other week. Always loved the owners daughter when we eat in, But I have never been treated so poorly and in front of my family made it that much more unpleasant. Josh how you ever got your job had to be a miracle. We are now on a mission to make sure everyone we know in Gaslamp will avoid this place like the plague. The most disrespectful business I have ever experienced. AVOID!!!

Walk on dirty streets Looking for a good warm meal So I can go sleep. Downtown. When I was born here, there was no Chinese food to be found except in the kitchens of the Chinese immigrants. Now the streets are a bit cleaner and there are many more food choices but not much Chinese food. Lucky Lui’s is a classy looking spot. Reminds me of Red Pearl Kitchen. I gave it a try with the family. Won ton strips. Fresh, crunchy, nice flavor. Bbq pork fried noodles. Thin, crunchy egg noodles and bbq pork had good flavor. Sauce went well with this dish. Chicken fried noodles. Very similar to the bbq pork fried noodles except for the addition of shitake mushrooms. Excellent flavors. Bbq pork lo mein. Good flavor from the egg noodles, sauce and bbq pork. Fried chicken wings. Good sized and juicy. Crunchy batter with that salty msg flavor. Mongolian beef. Tender, good quality beef. Didn’t care for the flavor of the beef. I like the food here about the same as Hong Kong BBQ or Sam Woo. The chicken fried noodles was the best tasting dish. Price is higher though and the service is a bit slow.

I ordered delivery from here about 10 minutes ago I finally put my chopsticks down. I’m stuffed and satisfied! The BBQ pork fried rice was AMAZING. It’s a huge portion which is good because it was a bit expensive. I love that sauce it came with on the side too. All in all it was a little pricey but so very delish!

This place has amazing staff, very welcoming and friendly! And their drinks and food are delicious! If they still have a groupon deal, o strongly recommend using that as its a good deal in itself. I opted in for a soju mojito. actually 3 of those :) they were really good! Then the food. yummmm!!! Everything was great, from the wings to the noodles! Definetely recommend if you are in the area.

It’s gonna lose a few stars based on lack of ventilation on the inside. Food= **** Service= **** Comfort= *** We ordered sweet and sour chicken, pork Sui Mai, and salt and pepper shrimp. Everything was amazing. The chicken was not over done in the sauce, like in some places. Shrimp had this amazing crunch and flakiness. And the pork barely lasted 2 minutes. We devoured it all. Service was great. There was about 3 people helping us. 1 took our order, 1 served, 1 always came around with water. It was great timing too. Comfort… Meh. I’ve been to places where you’re seated close to the next table on a bench before. Not a problem. The problem was the lack of AC or ventilation. We were walking around Comic con and came I for lunch and there were a good amount of people that reeked of sweat. We were in a back corner. Maybe a fan? It was hit in there. The table next to us agreed. Everything else was great.

This place definitely deserves the 5 stars! We are not from San Diego, so while we were just sight seeing, we stumbled across this gem. & we were so glad we did! First, we were a little thrown off because it was so empty.(It was a Monday afternoon.) We were greeted & got seated right away. Took us about 15 minutes to finally decide on some dumplings(the pork bun & shrimp one? I’m not sure what they are called. & the wonton soup.) The man who took our order, I’m going to assume he is either the owner or manager, was VERY nice. He & the employees were very attentive always making sure our glasses of water were full. The food came out pretty fast. & it was DELICIOUS! My favorite was the pork bun. The wonton soup tastes very fresh. The vegetables were perfect. I guess when I went to the bathroom the manager spoke to my husband & said everything there is organic. No wonder it tasted so good! The food was great. & having amazing service like that makes the dining experience so much better! We will definitely come here again whenever we visit.

Not bad. It’s always nice to be able to order dimsum after traditional dimsum hours. Don’t expect the dimsum carts here, though. You just order off the menu. Atmosphere is cute, very thematic. Prices are right. So if you’re downtown looking for dimsum on ‘off hours; this place is worth checking out. Quick rundown: Tasted good: Calamari Shrimp Shui Mai Pork bun Tasted kind of old: Har gow(disappointed!)
