Came here on a Saturday afternoon because Minh Ly was closed. Bad idea. We ordered 2 bowls of duck noodles, one dry, one with soup. The one with soup was ok, the dry was gross. The noodles and duck didn’t have flavor at all. We also ordered a plate of roast chicken with fried rice that came with pickled vegetables. There was a hair on the vegetables! When we pointed it out to the waiter he said he didn’t see anything so we had to ask for new vegetables. They didn’t check on us or refill our empty water glasses. Will not be returning!

I have gotten take out from this place about 4 times this past week and I am beginning to suspect I may have a serious addiction. Thankfully, their prices are very reasonable. I love their Hu Tieu My Tho noodle soup. The flavor combination of meat and seafood in that flavorful broth is like crack for me. I also love their spicy fried shrimp appetizer, which comes with picked vegetables. If you are a noodle-a-holic, like myself, you need to try this place out!

First timer and i had a great experience i work for att so i only have 30min lunch. This place served me so quick i loved it. The waiter Law was so chill and respectful. He was very young but did his job well. I order beef chowmein which was great and fulfilling. 5stars no doubt. I will be returning. Good job law

I’m going to give 3 stars instead of 2 because part of it may have been a language barrier ordering by phone. I ordered 5 things. 3 meals, 2 appetizers. Out of these 5, only 2 were what I actually ordered. Spent $ 40 there and got one good meal and that was the meal that they fixed when I double checked when picking it up. I ordered sweet and sour chicken. Looked different than normal, but I gave it a try. The chicken was so dry. The person who got the good meal may be returning, but I won’t be.

Place was just okay… The Noodles was average. I expect better for a noodle joint… Just saying… Roast duck is to die for… Droolz… Service was actual not bad. Price was about average. I believe the owners are Viet. I know the waiters are.

Totally awful. Ordered food from this place through Grub Hub and then they cancelled the order. When we called they said there was no order, and seemed to blame the third party delivery company. They didn’t even acknowledge that they deal with Grub Hub, which took the order and charged our card. Avoid!

I come this place quite often because honestly, I love it. They offer a variety of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes from Hu Tieu to porridge, fried rice to sautéed noodles, and a lot more. Everything is made to order and delicious. Here are a few of my favorite dishes. Spring rolls — steamed shrimp with a thick tender piece of pork. Lettuce and bean sprouts are crispy fresh. Right amount of noodle. Served hoisin peanut sauce. Best spring rolls in SD I think. Hu Tieu — here you can get Hu Tieu your way. What I mean is that you can get it with rice noodles or egg noodles, with chicken, pork, duck or seafood, with wontons or dumplings, with stew or curry, and more. All of the above for all I know and even dry. I usually get either the wonton & dumpling w/egg noodles or shredded chicken w/rice noodles. The simplicity of the broth is what makes it so good but it’s the variation that gives it depth. Plus the fried garlic and fried scallions. Café Sua Da — made fresh. Perfect balance of espresso to condensed milk. Add water if it’s too strong. I’ve tried a few other dishes my friends have ordered such as the Chao Ga(chicken porridge) and Com Ga(steamed chicken with rice) and all have been delicious. I really like this place for the simplicity and the variety. Dishes are not over seasoned. Service is good. The food comes out quick. Reasonable priced and great lunch specials. I admit I usually get a dish to go. Enjoi!

I used to come here a lot until my last visit.. which has made me decide to never return again. I was served 2 out of 7 fully cooked salt & pepper wings.(see photos) pretty sure I can not eat chicken for a long while… I did not eat all day and finally was able to eat at 7pm and sadly I ate around the blood cause I was too hungry to care.

This restaurant used to be tucked inside a small plaza on Convoy for the longest time. I was pleased to see that they didn’t go out of business but moved close to where I lived in Mira Mesa. The food hasn’t changed too much honestly and still as good as I remembered it. Fried dumplings(xui cao) — I love this appetizer. The way it is deep fried makes the outer shell extremely flakey and light. It is paired with an awesome sweet and sour sauce to compliment the savory pork and mushroom filling. BBQ Pork and Wonton Noodle Soup — My solid go-to. It is simple, the egg noodles are a bit ‘hard’ which I like and tastes great with a little bit of chili oil. There are so many items on the menu that it is hard to choose sometimes but everything should be pretty satisfying. The rice plates are always a good safe option too. Service is usually pretty decent and there are many tables for large parties.

My guilty pleasure! My parents always togo for our household their Combination Fried Rice which is delicious(in my opinion they should add more shrimp since the plate is easily $ 9). I also love their Won Ton Soup Noodles with the crispy shrimp chip to pair with the entrée. They have this herbal drink called Nhan Nhuc, it’s a vietnamese/chinese herbal drink that I grew up drinking and I like how they prepare that drink there. Interesting Fact: The original restaurant was located in Convoy and it used to be surrounded with fish aquariums(my family always went there) but when the owner passed away they relocated the restaurant a few years later to Mira Mesa. I missed how they used to make and serve fresh desserts near their old cashier counter.

I secretly got harassed by two of the Vietnamese waiters here which made my last visit fairly uncomfortable. I guess they weren’t aware that I am fluent in Vietnamese and was able to understand every single word they were saying about me. When my soup came out, the way the waiter put down my vegetable plate made my ONLY slice of lemon roll down the table and onto the ground. I kindly asked one of the waiter, who is obnoxiously smacking his gum like a cow munching on grass, if I could have a new slice. He let out a sigh and murmured some words. Sorry dude, you dropped my lemon and this girl needs her lemon. When he came back with my one slice of withered and dried out lemon, I thanked him and as he walked back to the counter(I’m sitting near it), he started talking to another guy, who asked him some questions. And this is where they start talking about me lol. First, the guy who gave me the lemon started bitching in Vietnamese about how picky I was(. But I only asked for another slice of lemon cause he dropped my previous one !), and the guy who was listening, started to shush him saying«hey what if she knows Vietnamese don’t say that». The grumpy lemon guy try to convince him that I don’t understand and that I may be Chinese or some other race. They continued to talk about me, trying to guess if the guy sitting in front of me is my NEW bf. Since I came here a couple days before this visit with my boyfriend. And this time i came with MYCOUSIN. At one point, they were questioning the hardness of my life lol … «She probably never worked a single day in her life. Rich girl.» Ok lol. Because I asked for lemon? Where did all the assumptions come from? And for disclaimer, I’m working two jobs while juggling with my internships so i can save money for medical school, thank you very much. They continued talking and snickering to themselves — and just talking mad shit about all the customers they had to encounter, which is totally understandable. Cause I’ve worked in the food industry and retail — I get it. However, I think there’s a specific time and place for this smack-talking and during business hours when the restaurant is still filled with customers. Definitely not the greatest time and place . I want to give this place a 2⁄5 but I decided on 3⁄5 because the first couple times here, I was fairly fond of the place. My first waiter here was an elder Vietnamese man. And he was super sweet ! My second time here was also awesome … The food was good. The only dish I found disappointing was the garlic chili pork chop(the one that’s $ 7 on the lunch menu)… It was too dry and bland for me.

This place is a great lunch spot! There’s always seating, the service ranges from good enough — great(if it’s your lucky day) and their garlic chili pork chops are the . Their egg noodle soups are also pretty delish. Simple, tasty, large portions. I am a fan indeed. Tip: It’s way quicker to just go up to the counter to pay for your meal because you may end up waiting for the check for a long long time. And I’m always amused that they have telemundo on lol

Love this place! I’ve done both dine in and take out. Everytime I come here theres never a wait. I love how they take my order right away and food comes quick. The place is pretty big, lots of tables and booths so its great for big parties. They also have tv’s available throughout the restaurant. They have some awesome lunch specials that are very affordable with great portions. I have to say, I’m definitely a fan of their food! I love getting the wonton egg noodle soup dry(soup on the side) with extra garlic, their fried rice is to die for, the egg rolls are bomb, orange chicken is good and the garlic chili pork chop is one of their popular dishes which I absolutely love. Service is pretty good here, they’re quick with everything. If you’re craving some good comfort food and in the area, you gotta check them out. Their prices are decent along with great portions. You can call in orders easily if you want take out. Good place to bring your family. Never really had a problem here. love this place!

Food is super good, service not so good. I ordered their seafood noodle soup, combination chow mein, and chicken wings with a side of rice. I don’t think they give you enough wings but all of it tasted super yummy. We sat at our table for a good 15 minutes with no service and had to call someone over to take our order. Our guy forgot to bring forks too, twice. I would eat here again only because of their food. But service is no bueno!

LHK has good food but their service is terrible. 8 out of 10 times the service sucks but my bf and his friends love coming here. First off, when its busy it takes forever to get water(they never refill your water unless you wave them down, even when it’s not busy), to order(only if you don’t know what you want. 2 times we had to get up and try to catch the attention of a waiter to order and that takes awhile to get their attention) and 2 times we went during lunch rush, we were seated first before 2 other parties and they got their food before us even when we ordered first. For the good parts, I really like their lunch special. Garlic chili porkchop, chargrilled porkchop and the wonton soup! All good and affordable! I’ve tried other dishes on their menu and it was all really good. Even though their service sucks I come back for the good food.

Should have listened to Soo H. and the other 2⁄3 star ratings. We just really wanted some simple fried rice, chow fun and crispy garlic wings. I’ve had not so good fried rice before but for my family to just absolutely NOT even get through half of their order is crazy. It was just not good at all. My human trash can son was totally disappointed. How do you make garlic crispy chicken wings a 1 star… sitting in a POOL of oil, garlic was so fried that it was tasteless and the serrano peppers were just sitting in the oily mess. Yes it was crunchy but it was definitely not delicious… so sad since I looked forward to them. The Chow fun which was ordered by our roommate was partially eaten and he rated them 2 stars… Well, I knew what some of the reviews were and I was really hoping since there weren’t too many recent ones that maybe just maybe… ugh. Seriously though, we live in the mecca of asian restaurants, stores and population… HOWHOWHOW is it this bad and they are still in business… what did I miss? Maybe their noodle dishes are better since their business sign says something about noodlehouse… I will not be going back to find out. Don’t waste your money here, heed the warning.

Awesome restaurant to try all kinds of different food! I think it’s more Chinese food than anything else but they might have their own variation of it. It’s located near the market that used to be the old theater(near Hometown Buffet) and there’s always plenty of parking. The restaurant is a bit older but very spacious so never a wait time. I’ve been here a few times and my favorite dish is the duck leg noodle soup(there’s an option to have the soup on the side, I think). The portions are perfect(a little more than enough) and the prices are more than reasonable depending on what you get. I know they also sometimes sell fish so that might be a bit more expensive. The service is great even though it’s taken them a while sometimes to give us the check. Haha. Their menu is humongous so you’re BOUND to find something you will like. They also have different kind of noodles(egg noodles and their wide/thin rice noodles).

Yup, still 5 stars. This has become the place that is our go-to when craving Chinese food. My boyfriend’s gotten takeout a couple times he didn’t feel like cooking, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Most recently, he, my roommate and I got some takeout. They liked their combination fried rice(with shrimp, pork and beef) and sweet and sour chicken w/rice. I was feeling sick, so I got the roast chicken noodle soup. Ohhh my goodness. First, I’m glad they packed the noodles and chicken separately from the giant container of broth. I was able to get rid of the bones before throwing it all in the soup. They’d thrown a container of jalapenos into our bag, so we each tried some sliced jalapenos with our food and they really brought out the flavor in my soup. It was delicious, and just what I needed when under the weather. Plus there was so much I had leftovers. The part that makes it all even better is that everything is just so inexpensive. Totally affordable and delicious!

Rorschach: Never compromise. Not even in the face of Armageddon. That’s always been the difference between us, Daniel. Alan Moore — The Watchmen Journal entry, January 7, 2015. 6:00PM. Avoided security patrol. Sat down at usual spot at Hong Kong BBQ. Strange no customers, cashier or wait staff. Question the cook and discover they are closed. Walk across parking lot to Luong Hai Ky. Inside almost as empty as Hong Kong BBQ. Order bbq pork chow mein. Bite into broccoli. Unusually crunchy. Same with other vegetables. Not cooked enough. Taste like salad. Egg noodles not seasoned and lack flavor. BBQ pork only part of dish with flavor. Entire dish lacking char flavor from wok. Should have eaten rations till Hong Kong BBQ reopened. Never compromise.
