Food is good. We usually go when it’s not too crowded, during the week or early mornings on weekends. My daughter enjoys the food and my husband does as well, he ordered Marlin & shrimp tacos all the time. It’s our to go spot when we want to eat Mexican sea food at good prices.

Went back in today. Worst mistake ever. So disappointed with this place. Went in nobody greeted us or even bothered to acknowledge or presence. So then we seated ourselves at a table sat there for over 10 min waiting for someone to come and give us our menus. Still no one acknowledged our presence didn’t even look at us or talk to us so after 5 more minutes of waiting we got up and left. Their customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced and it is truly sad because I thought their food was pretty good. They’re staff clearly does not pride customer service especially when families come in. I do not recommend this place to anyone unless you like bad service go for it. They obviously don’t need the business.

Mariscos Altata is the worst restaurant in sd. They take for ever for no reason. The waitresses barely know their role and act flustered during lunch hour. Mexican restaurants are no where new to sd they won’t be around long

Worst service ever. They took 45 minutes. Because they lost our ticket. At the end they just decided no to charged is the drinks. But ridiculous waitress just pass by smiling. I was already wanting to go. By my girlfriend didn’t want to because she was embarrass to walk away.

4 stars for the food!
Customer service is almost non existent though! Unless your a single bunch of guys coming in then the waitresses will bend over backwards (literally) for you!
Outstanding prices, food is fresh & delicious!
My only gripe is the waitress that was taking our order she didn’t know what their happy hour specials were she had to go ask 3 times! I don’t know if she was new or just plan clueless?! But she was upbeat & friendly if that counts for anything lol?! So I just got up & went outside to look at their sign lol! My other gripe with her is she never checked up on us to see if everything is fine (mind you she does speak English). Everything came out except for our fish tacos! Meanwhile our waitress is dancing around the restaurant & behind the counter. I look around & it’s nothing but a sausage fest in here & the 2 waitresses are very attentive to these dudes! So I waved her down to ask about our fish tacos… Seems like she forgot so she apologized. We had initially ordered 4, 30 minutes later only 2 came out. We just polished off the 2 fish tacos, paid & was on our way.

There is a live band that comes here. If you want to keep your hearing I suggest come right at 3 for their happy hour stay for like an hour or so… Restaurant is small music is LOUD!!!

Great tacos! 2 fer $ 1 on Wednesdays and Thursday. Be patient, food takes time to be made so don’t come if you are in a rush.

First time eating at this restaurant.
Seems pretty clean as its the first thing I check around. We ordered Shrimp Aguachile and shrimp tostada. High five for the aguachile, tostada had about 3 chopped shrimps and mostly onion and tomatoes. Service was great, the girl was ver attentive. Parking is limited, find a spot around the streets when lot is full. Good location, I805 is around the corner.

Great seafood dishes. Creative and tasty. Above and beyond the norm for the area and prices can’t be beat. Frequently they’ll have local musicians entertaining you with a family ran restaurant feel. Pretty good tap lineup, IPA-​MXN lagers. The market next door has a growing selection of craft beers as well. Michelada here is truly amazing. I am impressed.

Really good food the fish tacos are bomb pair it up with their IPA El valiente is a trip to heaven. All their food is great 100% fresh

Love this place, gotta come try the IPA (EXCLUSIVE). The fish tacos perfection, shrimp tacos perfection. Clean and the staff makes you feel like family. The owner is super cool too.

It was a Cold night and I was craving some hot soup. Man did I run into the right spot. Very Clean, friendly and awesome customer service. I remember this place looking ghetto before and I never wanted to walk in but now with the new owners running the joint and a new look, I had to give it a try. I ordered the house soup which had fish, shrimp and veggies. The soup was amazing. It definitely hit the spot on a cold day. I will be back to try the rest of the food since everyone in the restaurant seemed to be enjoying theirs also. everything looked really good.

Great place. Everything has been really tasty. 50 cent fish tacos on Thursday… Can’t beat it really.

I’m an absolute fish taco fanatic, and this place keeps me coming back for more. Almost on a bi-​weekly basis at least. Their food is hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The octopus taco the owner himself made me one day blew my mind, and I’m not exactly a octopus fan, lol. The burritos are also on the larger side of the spectrum, as well as just about everything else I’ve had there, so no matter what you get you’ll never feel like you got less than you paid for! Left-​overs, is almost guaranteed lol.
The staff is very responsive, friendly, and willing to help make you feel almost at home. They’ve definitely hit the nail on the head with the «family oriented neighborhood business» feel.
I could not possibly recommend them enough. Especially on their occasional fish taco special days! Hearty sized fish tacos, 2 for a dollar? Sign me up!

Went back to give them another try they improved more this time around Good communication with customers good customer service and the food was good. Micheladas are always on point. Still takes a long time to get food i watched my order of half oysters and half pata de mula at the take out window for five minutes b4 it got to my table. In my last review i only gave them 2 stars ima give them 2 more because it is a big improvement from the first time i went there.

Great spot for some bomb food. My waitress was Lilly and she was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very open and inviting. And Clean.
The food is really really good. You don’t find this kinda place often. And for the cost!!! Just try it. You’ll be back.

Ceviche was delish! I loved the Banda out front also! Best way to start the weekend. The owners are so great!

Came on a Friday during lent… so super busy! While the waitress was nice, the food took forever to come out, and then they got out orders all wrong. A little frustrating when you have hungry kids.
They need to have better communication amongst waiters and cooks. I will give credit where credit is do… The ceviche tostada was delicious. The tacos… from my experience not so much. Overall, 2 stars for the entire experience.

Ate here a few times recently with my neighbor and again today. Things are improving. No music was playing so it was much quieter. The owner sent me a message to see him about addressing any concerns and I appreciate that. I raised my review from 2 to 3 stars and will add another star as things progress. Three fish tacos for $ 3.25 out the door compared to $ 12 for three tacos at Chili’s last week and the meal was super salty and not very good. After Chili’s I came back to Mariscos with an appreciation for the price and fresh vegetables.

I reduced my review from 4 stars to two. Since my last update I have eaten here around 12 times. The main problems for me are: 1. quality can be poor. 2. quality is inconsistent. 3. Speed — it can take 10 minutes for the waitress to take your order. Other times I place an order and have waited up to 20 minutes for three fish tacos. These were off-​peak times where there were maybe 6 or 8 customers and most already had their food. Waitresses are focused on behind the scenes stuff and not the customer. When I finish my meal I want the check. No one comes by so I go to the register. Think in and out burger. I want to order 3 fish tacos eat and leave. Quality matters more than price. I went in there last week and my neighbor was buying because I gave him a ride. Even though he was paying I ordered 3 fish tacos, no drink cuz that’s all I want.

After having a couple of beers at Ballast Point Little Italy I stopped by on the way home for a snack consisting of two fish tacos. Food came up fast and was as good as Mitch’s sea food in pt loma. I was shocked when the waitress said that will be $ 2.14! I asked how that could be and she said Mon thru Thursday fish tacos are 99cents! If I go down the street to burger king a large fries is $ 2.58 with tax! Also, the music was not so loud. On the way out I thanked the cook — I said the cabbage is fresh, cold and crisp and the fish is hot and the presentation is perfect like a picture in a magazine. I’m going here from now on.

Had three delicious fish tacos @ 1.65 each. Food came up fast.
Just ate here for the first time tonight. Got a HUGE fish burrito. Wow I’m so stuffed as I write this. Arrived right at closing but they said no problem. The place has been updated a lot from the pictures below.
The restaurant is clean and stylish. Bathroom is very clean, with lots of room and creative style — feels like home but even better. I appreciate that a lot of hard work went into making things look classy and fun so you can bring a date. Prices are very reasonable and the food looks good when your plate arrives.
Meal was delicious only one minor complaint — the music was really loud but my waitress turned it down for me.
I’m excited because I live near by and there hasn’t been anything in the way of a sit down restaurant where you could bring a date at this end of Market street. For sure, I’ll be back soon.
