Took my daughter, son and neighbor(ages 11 – 9) for some much-needed hitting instruction. Daughter plays softball, the boys play Little League baseball. Coaching was sort of going in one ear and out the other with my two kids(the neighbor went along to keep my son company), so I wanted to try something new. Batting cages don’t work for us b/c with younger kids the pitching is inconsistent, and you never know where the ball is going to be. My kids need to learn to watch and hit that stuff, not the same reliable pitches from the machine. Woo hoo! Bingo! Greg had them working on hitting tiny wiffle balls, tweaking their follow-through and balance, and most importantly, showed them the way for them to figure out for themselves how to stand at the plate. My son was a tough sell at first(«Mom, I already know how to hit the ball»). But when he implemented checking his stance before he swung at the ball, everything changed. Especially his confidence. Woo hoo! My daughter’s biggest problem was her stance, and she took to the instruction quickly, and I could see and hear the difference when she hit pitched balls and balls off the tee. Neighbor loved it too, and also paid close attention. It was basic instruction at this level– just a few things that a parent or coach could remind their kids about, and that kids could remember on their own. Next time we’ll tweak a little more, but Greg was careful not to overload them, and also discussed everything with me so that I understood his objective. Nice facility– not huge, but big enough to accomplish a lot. We’re already scheduled the next appointment. Easy to get to– just off the 5 at Sorrento Valley Road. Check ‘em out on Facebook.
