I’ve been sick twice from buying meat at this super market since I recently moved to the area a month ago — stomach ache and diarrhea. This super market is SOOOO sub-standard and freaking dirty. I wonder if all these old shoppers here are immune to salmonella. The name should be changed to Salmonella Super Market. Never again — you’ve been WARNED!!!

This store has every little things such as fresh and dried herbs from all over South East Asia that no other Asian Supermarket have. But beware! Registers are handle by owners only. An elderly lady and her three brothers. Price at registers are not the same as price marked on shelves.(They cost more at register) They ring up items that you didn’t buy. Watch your register screen. Two different occasion the little young short guy ring me up a box of mama noodles that I didn’t purchase. And a pack of sausage casing that sold for $ 15.99/lbs. package price was under $ 9 but he charged me $ 15.99. When I told him that’s not right. His response«oh» I only go there to buy a few items from this store. Imagine all those elderly folks who goes there frequently with a cart full of groceries. Recently my family was sitting in car watching the guy weighing jack fruits. 26lbs. The guy yelled to the registered at 27 lbs.

I’ve been coming here in a pinch to get mainly fresh noodles, meatballs and the basics. Meats and produce always look fresh. The layout of the store is a little awkward and some of the items seem mismatched. I feel like I’m always spending more time looking for certain items and over looking something. I’d like to see them do away with the accessories aisle and expand on more food, spice and condiment options. The staff hustles and always friendly checking out. They need more soup and noodle options for my personal preference. They’re great for some special items I need, but can’t be a my only one stop grocery mart. Still get excited every time I come here hoping to find something new. Remember to take advantage of the mixed pepper bags and cheap coconuts.

The first thing to note is that their address is actually 4029 Euclid Ave. It’s just around the corner and there’s a little parking lot, so that’s helpful. I’m kind of torn on Minh Huong because on the one hand, they had a few of the things that I needed for really cheap(a HUGE jar of pickled ginger for like $ 2), but on the other hand they seem to be targeting small businesses or super large families rather than the customers like me who just need small amounts of an ingredient(when will I *ever* use all that pickled ginger?!). It’s kind of hard to find stuff and not all of the produce is labeled, but it kind of reminded me of being in foreign lands so that wasn’t so terrible. ;) Also, one of the staff made sure I knew that they focused on Thai, Cambodian, Vietnamese, and Laotian products so if you’re looking for a Japanese ingredient(as I was), you should go elsewhere. Finally, the store wasn’t exactly the cleanest…

I shop here a lot. Best place to get the things to make a ton of yummy dishes. Good prices, nice people. Best deals on coconuts. Some times there’s some really interesting fruit. the Minh Huong is nice to have around if you live around here.

FYI new store is actually one block away from their old location: 4029 Euclid Ave(University Ave cross st.) Live fish(they’ll de-scale and clean ‘em for you), butcher who will slice the beef thin(very nice for phở or for stir fry), fresh asian veggies(i love my chinese broccoli), cans of thai curry paste(panang is my favorite), and love the asian hot sauces(garlic chili and rooster my fav). They recently started stocking asian beers too!

There’s always someone at the door greeting you as you walk-in with a «Hello» The produce here is real organize and its pretty spacious! Noting is hard to find at all & the customer service here is good– I mean I ask for stuff all the time LOL! One thing I do dislike is no matter how many times I come here the cashier always attempt to speak to me in SPANISH I mean like HELLO? I’m Asian! I guess I’m so pigmented he just automatically assume but whatever I don’t really care LOL. I was just saying. Oh, parking here sucks too I really hate parking here! I feel like its a tight squeeze.

You can buy bags of MSG here. I am completely unapologetic about my love of MSG because I think this whole attitude like MSG is some horrible secret evil is laughable. It’s made of of seaweed, not manufactured in secret laboratories underground in North Korea. It is not a terrorist device. It simply adds flavor to your food. IT’S DELICIOUS. ENDOFSTORY.

Asian grocery, many interesting snacks here. Parking is a little tight. Came here to buy betelnut and lime. It’s just a street down from 97 market or where 97 market used to be at 47th street. At the light just passed 47th street turn left and it will be on the right. The roads are so narrow around this area, traffic feels very congested! So if you’re looking for betelnut or lime, this store sells them too. The lime comes in 2 colors though, they have the regular white one, and then they have the pink one. Don’t know about the pink one, but my friend has tried it and she said it’s got a strange flavor.
