Mitschke’s Custom Framing

The only store I trust with framing my art collection. I originally went here based off of the reviews on Unilocal and I am so, so, SO glad that I found them. As a total art nerd I have a set of contemporary artists that I follow religiously. Every now and then they’ll release some limited edition prints that I HAVE TO HAVE. I hate keeping my collection tucked away, so I knew when I first started collecting (almost 2 years ago) that I needed to find someone who could do the art justice. Mitschke’s Custom Framing is it!
Not only is everyone here ridiculously friendly, but they really know their stuff! When I got my first print framed, they gave tons of great advice as to what would compliment the colors in the print the best, which mat to go with, etc etc. We spent a good amount of time putting sample frames and mats next to each other and next to the print, just to make sure that we were making the right choice.
I want to note that quality framing can be incredibly expensive — especially with the glass that you end up choosing. I got museum glass for the first print and I haven’t gone back to anything else since. If you are gonna go all out with a great frame and mat, I really recommend that you go with museum glass. You’ll never regret it.
The wonderful thing about Mitschke’s (aside from being framing wizards) is that they understand their work is expensive and are more than happy to work out some sort of payment plan with you. Unless you are Bill Gates, I doubt you want to drop $ 900+ on a frame, mat, and museum glass immediately, so this really does help.

I wouldn’t take my artwork anywhere else. I have been going to Mitschke’s for at least 8 years. I love not only the quality craftsmanship, but also the huge variety of frames. Mike Mitschke, the owner, has a wonderful eye and always helps me select the perfect frame. He can frame anything. The turn around time has always been quick and as estimated by Mike. The location in Sorrento Valley is super convenient. Parking is not a problem. If you are looking for personalized service from a local shop, you should take your artwork here.

So glad I found this place! Used to go to Arron Brothers for my custom framing but have since boycotted (inexperienced and have ruined a few of my pictures). This is owned by the man who actually does the work himself. Wonderful personal service, and I was actually shocked that the prices are about the same or better than Arron bros for custom framing! It also feels good supporting a local business!
