Worst service ever. Waitresses are rude. Went there on a Sunday and waited 20 minutes before I had to get up from my table and find a waitress to order a drink. Had to get up and grab menus from the food station, and No one ever came to take my order. Finally asked a waitress but by the time she came back to take it my hubby wanted to leave. To top it off got a drink spilled on my back while sitting at my table! Horrible experience, will never go there again.

I love this place. They have great music and the drink specials are fantastic. There are quite a few but my general go to is The burger and a beer for $ 10. The atmosphere is usually something like a dive bar but during football season it can get pretty crowded. I love local bars with good food. I should emphasize that the food is better than most barfood.

Great place to grab a burger and a beer. They have great happy hour and daily drink specials and you can’t beat the live music they have. Be sure to get the Mac N Cheese, add bacon… oh man… it’s something to behold.

The 2 stars are because its bar food so I shouldn’t expect anything more than that and drink prices are ok. The service was subpar at best, messed up my burger twice by giving me the wrong burger all together, followed by a redo that didn’t have all the toppings as stated on menu. I also had to get up from the table and get my own water from the bar as the server didn’t return for over 10 mins from when I asked. Let’s just say if you are thirsty and need a beer then this could work, but there are a lot of places like this in OB that are similar and serve WAY better food. We won’t be back unless we stumble in one night on our way home for a quick beer.

Their wings are THEE best ever! They are super meaty and delicious. I always get BBQ because it’s too good to try anything else. I personally think they’re a bit expensive regularly, but the .50 wing nights are beyond amazing. If only there was an in-between, so I could get them all the time! My one annoyance is from about a year when I ordered the cheesy tots and asked to get it without bacon… she told me it didn’t have it in there. I guess she just thought I was vegetarian so it «didn’t matter.» When I told her that I was allergic to it(because I visibly saw bits in the cheese), she took it back and said oops it comes in the cheese. Kind of a dick move. They are known for their pork/bacon, so I’m not mad it was in there. but you shouldn’t tell someone it isn’t in there when it is. I still go, but am just more cautious! They have good music and it’s really chill. They also have shuffle board! And have I mentioned the delicious wings yet? *drooling* Oh, and a good tip… if you’re going for a game, you better get there early if you want to sit. If not have fun standing. If you want your drinks quicker, definitely order them straight from the bar! The waitresses are slow sometimes.

Came here last Saturday for the first time with my friends for a birthday. They have the best artichoke dip I have ever had. Ever. I was very surprised! It comes in a bread bowl with some large sized chips on the side. The chips were good… the bread bowl was amaaaaaaazing! We also order chicken strips and that was good as well. The food and drinks that we ordered came out super fast and the staff is super friendly. The place is really relaxed and laid-back. They have a small stage for performances and a shuffleboard table. I would definitely come back here again.

Great chill place! I’ve come to listen to the Stevie Starlight band and a couple other bands that play here and had a blast. Also been here for happy hour, they have awesome burger and beer specials!

Stephanie is the best! She takes the time to get to know everyone’s name since she sees us every week. She even knows my order! Oh and the food is amazing. Mother’s Chicken Salad Wrap with raspberry vingerette is amazing.

Shit service from rude blond server a few monday nights ago. Cant believe Vavi has a deal with this place when we were treated so rude! Came here after our softball game at robb field with our Vavi coupon that gets us a cheap pitcher of beer. We asked for menus and said we would be ordering food too, planned on spending some cash. Immediately got attitude and she said the coupon wasn’t initialed properly. I called her bluff, drove back to the field, and had the ump initial the card. When i got back and showed the waitress the properly initialed card she said it didn’t have a date on it. At that point, after already driving back to the field for proper initials, told her we would be spending our money elsewhere, which we did. Place was dead, looks like they coulda used our business, instead they went out of their way NOT to take our money. Fine with me, wont be back, plenty other places in that hood that treat their guests right. Shame for the owners that their staff is sending revenue elsewhere with their shit attitude.

Great local OB bar/restaurant. I use the term restaurant because their food is far better than the average bar food. Some of the best hamburgers in town(Mothers and Raglan top burgers IMHO). Beware of the Mother F-er unless you’re highly immune to hot food. Sat and Sun breakfasts include delicious omelets and burritos with mimosa and bloody Mary specials. Happy hour M — Fri 3 – 7. Half of all appetizers, an amazing deal. The Mac and cheese is to die for. $ 1 off drafts and $ 3 wells. Check the chalk board outside for the daily drink specials — usually a few deals that last before and after HH. My absolute favorite there is the wings — habanero bbq to be specific. Best deal is during football games, wings are 50 cents ea. Several pool tables and a shuffle board, one of my fav bar past times. Live music Thurs — Sunday with some great local bands who play.

I think I like this place! Shuffleboard, Lagavulin 12, not OB-dirty… yeah, I’m sold. $ 10 minimum for credit cards kind of bothers me, but then again, one Lagavulin neat is $ 14, so it’s not hard to reach the minimum. Or you can get two Fireball shots for $ 10. Or if you’re really going for quantity over quality, they have a few $ 3 drink specials.

Came here for the first time to watch a football game and was thoroughly impressed. Newly renovated, prices are still in line with old dive bars. On top of that, service is really great despite having a packed house. Definitely will be coming back to see a band and have some food next time I’m in the area.

Mother’s Saloon is a cool little spot especially if you want to watch sporting events. Lots of TVs everywhere and the surprisingly the food is pretty good for a bar. The mac and cheese is absolutely delicious and the nachos are a good sized portion(enough to share between 4 hungry people). The servers are not that friendly and getting checked on every few minutes doesnt mean you are providing good service(it can be kinda annoying especially if you are trying to watch some football). Parking is limited and if you dont like the smell of smoke i would suggest not sitting by the window… like really people, cmon who cant smoke away from the bar or in an alley or even the sidewalk. RUDE! The one thing i can appreciate is how speedy they were with bussing tables! I mean even the manager on duty was helping out! So kuddos on the teamwork! All in all, a typically dive bar for me… nothing special… but a good place to watch some football and some loud/crazy/drunks fans!

My friends and I have come here for happy hour multiple times because it is the best one I found that is still open. Their prices, service, good drinks, tasty food, and big portions have me coming back for more! Note: They have a parking«lot» right in front, but it’s a bit awkward that some spots you have to drive up/down a small curb to get to them. Onto the food: Artichoke and Spinach Dip Bread Bowl: This is what my friends and I keep coming back for. Steaming hot savory, cheesy, melty, and flavorful goodness with wilted spinach and chunks of artichoke served in a sourdough bowl that is topped with shaved Parmesan. Also, you get a choice to eat the hot and tasty dip with crispy golden brown pita chips dusted with seasoning and Parmesan cheese. I can’t ask for more! You will have to wait before eating this because it comes out really hot, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Baked Mac and Cheese: A nice small bowl of el dente fusilli lunghi bucati pasta(or at least it looks like that type of pasta) covered in melted cheese mixed in with slices of juicy andouille sausage, bits of corn, diced jalapeño, and bits of bacon(I forgot if this came with it or we added it in based on the waitress’s recommendation). It was topped with Parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, and dried parsley. This was filling and delicious! I’d definitely order this one again. Cajun Beef Bites: Tender and juicy morsels cooked medium and medium rare with a nice cajun seasoning. I really enjoyed the fresh jicama salad with sliced green and red bell pepper. Also I liked the interesting horseradish ranch sauce that came on the side. This was pretty good to try though it wasn’t a must have for my friends and me. Mother’s Nacho Supreme: Definitely something that needs to be shared! This was a huge plate filled with crunchy goodness. The chips were nice and crispy as they were topped with melted cheese, two types of beans and bits of beef(from the chili), pico de gallo(diced cilantro, onion, tomato, and jalapeño), bits of carne asada, a dollop sour cream, and a dollop guacamole. It was exactly what we expected but a bigger portion than we thought it would be. I would definitely order this again if I was with a few people. Mother’s Tots: Golden brown and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside tater tots topped with the bacon, melted cheddar, diced pickled jalapeño, and chili(we added the chili based on the waitress’s recommendation). The chili was mixed in with two types of beans and some chunks of beef. You have to eat this kind of fast or makes the tater tots soggy. Overall it was pretty good but I wouldn’t order again. Tempura Ale Fried Zucchini Sticks: A large zucchini sliced into 4 pieces that was battered and deep fried to a nice golden brown color and was perfectly cooked with a little crunch on the inside. It was topped with a balsamic reduction and served with a side of ranch. Pretty tasty! Overall, this is my top choice for happy hour because of the good food(taste and quantity), price, and good service. I will definitely be back for more of the spinach artichoke dip!

The service has fallen off considerably. We come in every Monday after softball and play the same silly game. After being ignored for a while, one waitress shows up to tell us the other waitress will take our order. It takes forever to get anything any more. This past week(9÷22÷14) was a complete fiasco of its own as she continually brought the wrong pitcher to our table. It’s ok — we’ll gladly go back to Pizza Port.

Mac and cheese!!! I had been wanting to go here for quite sometime and I had an extremely rough day that needed some liquid soothing… in the form of beer. Finally I text Julius R. and Roger W., let’s get burgers and a beer. Julius showed up at my house so quickly I wasn’t even ready. Roger met us there. We ordered way too much food but it was so damn good we packed up the rest to go. The mac and cheese was to die for. It has meat in it so if your not a carnivore you may want to ask for it without. I don’t know how amazing it will be, as I had it with all the goodness and was in heaven. The burger wasn’t bad but obviously the mac and cheese had my heart. Doug was replenishing the beer for us as well as providing some great conversation. We had such a great time, I couldn’t wait till the girl turned 21 to take her there! Thanks Doug for keeping our glasses full and thank you Mother’s for such deliciousness!

Several years ago I watched a local saloon during renovation, and the result is a vast improvement! Mother’s Saloon is a great place to go in OB that’s far from the hustle and bustle of Newport Avenue. The inside is very open, with plenty of room for live bands and mingling. I went there to see a friend’s band, Kitten With a Whip, and had a great time! We got there early so we could get a table close to the band, and I appreciate the gigantic industrial fan that definitely cools the place down. As a fan of porters and non-hoppy dark beers, I wasn’t impressed with the beer selection, but the food was outstanding! We started with the bacon-wrapped dates filled with blue cheese that offer a great blend of sweet and savory! Next on the list was the pulled pork sliders, which were delicious! I really enjoyed the tender smoky meat, and the BBQ sauce really accented the flavor! My only complaint is the lack of coleslaw to provide the Yin/Yang combo. For some reason, our server told us they don’t serve coleslaw, but I found out later that she was mistaken. We finished our grubfest with the tastiest teriyaki wings I’ve ever had! They were on special for 50 cents each during football games, and as luck would have it, a game was playing while we were there! I’ll definitely go back to Mother’s for the great food, happy hour bargains, and hopefully to see another good band!

I really enjoy coming to this bar! I frequent this place for lunch a few times a month and it’s never a disappointment. The service is always a pleasure and the food is excellent. The ahi salad is by far my favorite(see pic below) and their Wednesday sliders are unique and delicious. Their burger meat quality is good, you can taste it. Love the vibe and energy!
