Stopped in for a beer and more fish tacos. Local beers at happy hour 22oz for $ 6. Savored an Aurora Hoppyalis IPA. I like it. Taco are tasty too!

Rude ! Rude! Rude! Waited forevvvvver to get a food order in then when it finally went down and the waitress started taking our order then stopped mid sentence to talk to Customers behind us; we told her that was rude because it had taken us about 20 min to even get her to take our order; she responded with«I can’t be your waitress, lm going to get my manager!» This guy came out, had already made his decision to side with her instead of trying to work out this lunch nightmare so I said screw this were out in spite Of really wanting to smash that burger with the tots!

Skip it. Went in with my 24 yr old son for early dinner after long travel day. Noticed the 21& older sign, nice looking establishment from outside and not very busy. Was ID’d by one of the four male servers immediately upon entering and sat down. Had been there several minutes waiting and another of the servers asked for our ID. 25 minutes later, all four male servers and the female one had ID’d my son. None of them were courteous about it or told us about any specials, the menu, etc but made us feel harassed and as if we were inconveniencing them. After telling the 3rdAND4th one we’d already been carded twice, told us ‘well I haven’t seen it yet’. Chicken sandwich was mainly bread & cold. Another 15 min wait for the check. Definitely not worth the attitude and crap service. Won’t be coming back and will be sure to tell everyone I know not to bother.

Great tacos, get them TKO style. Some of the bat in SD. + the absolute worst oyster shooter I have ever had my entire life!!! Warm oyster, hot house well vodka, with a dollop of bad cocktail sauce. I literally could not eat it. I am from South Carolina and I absolutely love oyster shooters.(Usually). This was inedible. I almost threw up.

Sandbar was perfect for post-beach fun in the sun. When I saw the«Voted Best Fish Tacos in San Diego» I knew I couldn’t pass it up. Service was solid for the amount of business they were doing. Food and drinks were brought out fast which I appreciate. I ordered the fish taco plate, TKO style(stands for Total Knock out) and they did not disappoint. I got two very sizeable fish tacos with a shell that looks like the cheese was baked into it(very tasty). The fish and toppings were crunchy yet full of flavor. For sides you get refried beans(more of a dip for the chips than normal refried beans), a avocado dip(a little too tangy for my tastes) and a fairly mild, but nice smokey-flavored salsa. I ordered the Hard Root Beer float(comes with an ice cream sandwich in it) and I was quite happy with it. Like being a kid again. But ya know, with alcohol! After seeing some of the other food options(I’m looking at you nachos) if I ever happen to be in the area again I would definitely go back to Sandbar.

Today we went to SeaWorld & Mission Beach after. It was kinda busy for monday after 4, everyone off work came to the beach. walked to the wave house, but kitchen closed @ 6p.m. We went to Sandbar, says they have best fish tacos. We walked in, Sat down immediately, the Staff is really nice they’re friendly i liked the environment instantly. Stefanie was our waitress she was so busy, I believe the only(waitress) working downstairs with help of the host she was getting it done. She stayed on top of everything was informative and Any questions we had she was there to help. Stefanie kept our drinks full. If your in Mission Beach and want amazing fish tacos go to Sandbar. Don’t forget to add Bloody Mary, it was so tasty. Food is delicious, my husband had a cheeseburger and f) ries and he loved it. The food is great, the service is great. My Bloody Mary was perfect.

The TKO style, white fish, grilled tacos — very good! They had me at «lime-crema» … definitely some of the best fish tacos I’ve had. I ordered our food to go as we had a little one with us and it is 21+…I stood at the bar forever waiting to place an order, annoyed that several servers were gabbing in the corner and didn’t bother to acknowledge me. Forever. The bartender showed up and was obviously busy, but very friendly, and I quickly got over my annoyance. When I got home and pulled out the teeny, tiny, container of $ 8 queso, it all came rushing back. I will give them another chance when I can dine-in.

If it weren’t for the waitress this would be the full 5 stars. They have a porter and the buffalo chicken salad is to die for. Beautiful view. I really don’t know what more you want from a mission beach gastro pub… Except a more attentive wait staff. Perhaps this waitress had too many tables to worry about — in that case this is a management issue. She came by a grand total of three times. We kept having to go to the bar to order our own stuff and eventually we went up there to pay our bill. She also didn’t give my card back right away and was a little defensive when I asked for it. Before she went to get our tab she asked my name to look up the card. When she came back, she gave us our bill and moved on to the next table without giving my card back. My boyfriend tried to tap her shoulder to get her attention, to which the security staff member panicked and asked my boyfriend if he had a problem. He proceeded to walk up to the bar for the third time to pay for out bill. The waitress came back around to ask what was wrong. I told her she asked me for my name and then never gave me back my card(and I told her at the beginning that we would be paying cash.) She said«well did you have your tab?» Kind of a jerk move. I got the feeling she was expecting us to dine and dash or something. I did not like feeling like the wait staff thought we were scum

Extremely unfriendly here. We felt like somehow we were imposing on the servers by buying drinks. Stayed because of the location but that’s about all.

As were walking back along the strip to Belmont park, I’ve noticed a banner saying that this spot was«Voted best fish tacos in San Diego». Me and my boyfriend couldn’t pass it up! As we were greeted in, ID check is a must for them. You can sit anywhere, but if you’re not a local like me, I suggest going to the 2nd floor. Up top is a bar, plenty of outdoor seating with a cool view of Mission Beach and Belmont park. We shared a 22oz beer called: Mother Earth Cali Creamin/Vanilla Cream Ale. Omg, it was bomb! I usually drink Corona or Heineken but If I had that back home, it would be my go to drink. Maybe I’m just being a girl, but YO, it’s that good! We also shared a fish taco plate that comes with 2 tacos, beans, guacamole, and chips. You can choose your own protein, we went with the White Fish TKO style. Since we previously sampled another restaurant then walked the strip before finding this place, this dish was filling enough for the both of us before our flight back home. Overall, the tacos were BOMB! Not to mention, a cheese crust on the outer part of the taco! I can’t wait to go back to this place and try out other meats on the taco.

This is a great bar on the beach. Sit on the top deck to enjoy a view of the ocean and a nice breeze. The tequila selection is huge and reasonable. Come in and watch a game or two and enjoy some beers. The service was very friendly and prompt. Definitely stop in.

I visited Sandbar for the first time about a week ago with a couple friends. It’s right at the beach so you get that wonderful ocean air, outside dining to watch the sunset, and a view of Belmont park. We arrived for happy hour and were pleased with the selection of drinks and appetizers they offer. For drinks, we had a couple draft beers and a couple Bad Ass Bloodies. Sadly we didn’t get the full bloody experience that comes with this incredible skewer of accompaniments since they were out of skewers. That being said it was still a great cocktail. The food was delicious. We started with pretzels and queso. The queso is yummmmmmy! Had some chips and salsa. They have a great fresh salsa. And I had a yummy avocado taco! Will definitely go back and recommend to others! #sandiegofoodgirls

The exterior fools you… totally does not go with the interior but hey its right by the beach(tons of parking which is a PLUS), and they play amazing music and the service is awesome… so what more would you expect? What I mean by that is the exterior is trendy and the interior is out-dated thats all. I wish the food was all that and a bag of chips but unfortunately it is a MISS for this foodie. Being a guacamole connoisseur… why must your guacamole be SPICY? Like why? I do not get it… makes me sad because your nachos would be on point with it! At least please offer two options — spicy and not spicy! Anyways moving on from the guac portion… to have«thee best taco’s in San Diego»…I think that is pushin it! The taco’s are good but they are the soft-taco style and have a lot of toppings that just seem over whelming. The prices are not too bad and overall its a fun little spot. I would come back and try the burger… that looked tasty, yum! I would suggest not bringing someone here if you want to have a deep conversation as it is extremely loud in here and just good luck, but sit on the second floor to overlook the sunset with your meal and youre set!

This is my second time here and service was just as bad as the first. The first time I came it was a slow weekday and yet service was extremly slow. Though tonight is a Saturday and very busy, I understand service will be somewhat slow but the wait between getting someone to even notice us, clean the table we found, actually ask us what we needed, and get someone to bring the check was too much. The only positive was that the food was good and come within a reasonable time.

Sandbar is my favorite place to chill whenever I visit San Diego. Specially because they make the best tacos I have ever had! I always order their TKO style grilled fish tacos and trust me they are worth dying for… Apart from that their appetizers are pretty good too. I always order the crispy calamari because they give it with this awesome homemade jalapeño jam which goes perfect with those batter fried calamaris. The servers are always very friendly. They give food in good quantity and the prices are not too high! It’s theperfect bar near the beach :)

Fun little spot right by the beach! Friendly bartenders and a small variety of beers on draft. I’ve been getting the Cali Creamin’ on draft which is a local beer that tastes like whipped cream. I thought it was sweet at first but I got hooked. For food we wanted something small to snack on and got chips and Queso. A generous amount of Queso and Salsa came with the chips but the cheese wasn’t anything special. I didn’t try any tacos but my friend ordered a few and said they were delish! Great music that fits the beach bar mood — feel good 80’s rock. They played a couple of hits by Journey. Definitely a fun bar to stop by for a few brews if you’re bar hopping or day drinking on Mission Beach!

I always enjoy an open ocean air restaurant. The top floor here has a nice ocean view. Lots of televisions downstairs if you want to take in your favorite sporting event. Not that anyone needs a reason to hit the beach but I usually combine my visits here with another event because parking can be very tough in this area. So, I either let my son go nuts at Beaumont Park(across the way), hit the beach, or come here after a long board ride. The bartenders are attentive and hard working and maintain a great disposition despite the hysteria of a Sunday afternoon crowd on my latest visit. I like bars that have evolved away from typical run of the mill beer choices and the options here reflect that with a nice variety including a couple of Belgian ales. The food selections are fairly common to this type of establishment and always hit the spot. I recommend any of the TKO options especially the TKO tacos(better than the Sandbar style taco). I also recommend the wings as an alternative — If you happen to make it here during happy hour the appetizers are $ 2 off. This is a fun place that I definitely recommend if you’re spending your day in the area.

I voted for their fish tacos at the Taco TKO event last month and they won! Since their tacos were so good, I decided to visit the actual bar and eat them again. Upon entering, you’ll need to show ID. The guy thought I was barely legal to drink LOL. They only have two types of tacos,(TKO and Sandbar) so we got one of each. The TKO taco was still good and way better than the Sandbar style. Each taco comes with a side of chips and spicy salsa. I really enjoyed the cotija-crusted flour tortilla for the TKO taco. It also has a nice crunch and is very flavorful. There are different specials throughout the week and since it was a Wednesday, they have 50 cent wings, but our server never mentioned it, so we decided to share a pound of wings in the sriracha garlic sauce. All appetizers are $ 2 off during happy hour, so we did save a couple dollars. The wings were pretty spicy, but there was not enough garlic flavor to balance the heat. Everyone working here was really nice and friendly and full of smiles whenever we asked for more napkins, etc. I’m a fan of their TKO style tacos, but that’s about it.

Wow all these years and I’ve never reviewed them? Perhaps because I feel like they’re very popular and I have little to add to what many others before me have said. However, I feel obligated to speak my piece on their TKO options cuz… TODIEFOR :) I had the TKO Fish sandwich yesterday which I believe is new because I’d never noticed it before. They’re famous for their TKO tacos having cotija encrusted tortillas for their soft tacos but this was on a brioche bun for the sandwich and was just as amazing as I’d hoped. The fish is huge and still comes with guac and fried cilantro. I believe there’s slaw on it too which i normally won’t get, but theirs is not may based — yay! They always have great beers on tap and a full bar. If it strikes your fancy, they also open up as a club-type joint weekend nights. Haven’t done that in years though, but from what I remember, a fun time! The service is hit or miss, but they’re almost always nice. I love the beachy vibe since I’m a beach person too!

Being so close to the beach, it’s a must to stop by here if you are in the area. The drinks are fantastic and the music was bumping. We were here on a Saturday night and the place was packed! I ordered Tito’s and my friend was drinking Tequila. Whew, what a fun time. I was here once before in the afternoon on a Thursday, obviously a completely different experience. Next time you are in the MB/PB area, swing by the Sandbar for a few drinks. Thanks for the memories.

I came here with a friend after walking around the beach. It was the middle of the week and we had no trouble being seated. Our waitress was nice and was helpful with giving us recommendations. I had two Moscow mules and my friend had two margaritas. We paid $ 38 for two drinks. I didn’t try any of the food. Maybe next time.

Great spot in Mission Beach. I was there on a Saturday night and it was super busy. They seemed really well staffed for the crowd. Our server was friendly, quick and checked on us frequently. If you’re hungry, try the Nachos! They were super good. We also ordered the carne asada tots but they were just ok. They have a drink called«Skydeck Slushie» which was delicious! The location of this bar is perfect. You can go have fun at Belmont Park before or after, and there are a few large parking lots on the block.

First impression wasn’t a good one but the bar manager I spoke with made it right. I’m at a Unilocal!Event where restaurants have been invited to showcase their food. The servers behind the table had NOIDEA where their Mahi Mahi comes from! It’s the ONLY item they are serving here! The 20 something hot girls looked at me like I was crazy, asked«like you mean what ocean?», then looked around & at each other & asked(when I gave them an — are you freakin kidding me — look) «oh you mean like where we get them?» Uuuuuuugh I flagged down the manager in the hallway & he also had no idea BUT, he did tell me he would find out &30 mins later he found me at the event & told me their buyer is San Diego Seafood Company. Then he went the extra mile & found out that the Mahi is wild-caught! Awesome! I will definitely go to the restaurant for dinner!

Drinks on Mission Beach? Yeah… you’ll find me at Sandbar. Right at the end of Ventura behind the Balboa coaster. About a ten second walk into the sand if I bothered to count. It’s open air style. Patio seating is great for people watching. And there’s ample amounts of it here. DJ knows what he’s doing and the music is always a good mix of top 40 and hip hop. Drinks are great and reasonably priced given the awesome location. Cadillac margaritas and ‘Merica Mules are my personal favs here. Bar food is decent here too. Tacos are pretty good.

I used to come here to have cocktails when I lived in PB but never really had the food. Friends were in town staying on mission beach so we decided to meet for drinks and a bite. We sat at the lower level bar and had great service. I told the bartender what I liked and she made me a jalapeño mule. I’d never heard of it but it had vodka, ginger beer, fresh jalapeño, bitters, and a squeeze of lime. It was so freaking good!!! I’m still thinking about it one day later. I tried the grilled fish taco tko style and it was fabulous. It had crunchy onions on top, perfectly grilled fish, and it came on a grilled flour tortilla. I loved it. I’d definitely go back for both items. The bonus is that you can walk all of your food off on the boardwalk afterward.

Holy michelada batman! This thing is huge and means business! I’m very pleasantly suprised by this bar. I figured anything this close to bellmont park on mission beach would be an over priced shit show. Which maybe since its a Tuesday afternoon its not as much of a mad house as usual… but its been a great experience so far! The boo got a paloma which he loved their happy hour is pretty legit. $ 2 off aps lead us to order the chicken tenders which were some of the best chicken tenders we’ve had in ages! Super juicy chicken perfectly crunchy… and the spicy ranch sauce is so good I would strongly consider drinking it. Gross… I know but its that good! Seriously pleasantly suprised by this place great drinks and awesome chicken tenders!!!

The food and drinks were ok… the service wasn’t the greatest. The waiter/waitress were not rude they just weren’t helpful. It took about 10 – 15 min for someone to come even welcome us and it was a weekday so it wasn’t too busy. We were beginning to wonder if we had to go up to the bar to ask for food and drinks and then return to our table. We had to ask for waters about 3 times before they actually brought them to us. My friends burger came out about 10 minutes before the other 2 dishes. Since he is not a rude person his burger sat getting cold on the table while we waited for the rest of our order to come out. I ordered a walk of fame cocktail… it was very refreshing and good. I ordered the nachos with chicken as my food dish… there was an enormous amount!!! The whole table ended up sharing. They were fully loaded and tasty!!!
