I came here to support the neighborhoods business. I asked the gentleman if this particular meat can be grind here? He said yes. But he refused to grind it for me and because he said there’s already ground meat in the other fridge. Well, I like to pick and choose which part of meat I want. I will never come to this store again.

This is a review for the pre made deli guacamole or guac for another word. The guac was bomb homie! It had onion, cilantro, and fresh avocados. I had it with there house chips. the customer service was exceptional as you can get for a grocery store. Just a «good evening» and have a «good night» said with a smile was the just right amount of interaction I need from a cashier.

The guy that work in a meat department don’t to serve me because i am asian. The chicken thight was advertised as 39 cent a pound no limited, But he said i can only by 10 pound. I ask to talk the manager, he refused. I asked him who make decision here he said him,“ONLY10 lbs”. I was so disapointwd went I saw a mexican can get 20lbs. Not just two but four. This market is not treating asian right only to them mexican. So sad i got money but can not buy a lot chixken like them mezican women…

I never, ever thought I would set foot in this store, but out of desperation and… curiosity I tried it out. Considering that this place is located in ground zero of city heights, which is essentially a disgusting«food desert» for produce, this place actually has decent produce and prices. I would rather come here and brave the crowds and small parking lot, than go to Albertson’s any day. The produce section and salsa bar are the main items of interest here. They also offer rotisserie chickens, and pre-made deli style beans and rice. Steer clear of the meat counter unless you are feeling adventurous and brave. I got chicken from the meat counter once, and it was frightening.

I’ve never had problems with Murphy’s until tonight. I purchashe canned pineapple that has been expired since September 2012! That’s not the worst of it. I also purchased meat from the butcher, and when put the meat in the pan to cook I noticed a little black something. I moved it around, and to my horror it was a dead FLY!!! I did call them to notify them, and the girl I spoke with was nice and told me they would refund me the money. But eww, disgusting!!! They just lost a customer. Sorry Murphy’s.

Pretty good selection in meats and produce. Some of the cashiers can be kinda rude, sometimes they don’t even acknowledge you when they ring you up. Most times when I’ve stopped by, the cashiers are always carrying on a conversation with one another about personal stuff while they ignore customers in their lines. Maybe they can improve on their customer service skills but due to the great selection of groceries they have, I don’t mind stopping by every now and again.

i think murphy’s is an interesting name for a mexican supermarket. but im sure there’s a reason/history behind it. i dig this place because it’s right down the street from my place & they have a huge fresh meat selection(marinated or not) for great prices.

C’mon a one star review for this place? Give me a break! Fresh produce, excellent salsa and ceviche, and let’s just say that one needs a discerning eye when treading into the carniceria ;). The prices you ask? A little cheaper than Food for Less with quality marks higher. The workers there are the nicest people in the world, offering you free samples of things you look interested in. Get out of your comfort zone and give this place a try! They will entertain your crappy Spanish or speak to you in perfect English!

This is a City Heights landmark to me: D…I grew up only two blocks from Murphy’s it was the primary«liquor store» that my friends and family frequent. The atmosphere is really familiar and the employees are I believe friendlier than most liquor store owners. Its a nice market to go to, they have pre-marinated carne and pollo and they carry traditional mexican products that you might not be able to find in the american supermarkets.
