Came here because of Unilocal reviews. Be careful with parking because they are in a tiny lot, so it’s very limited. I asked the cashier what he recommended and he said the pork. I got 2 pork and 2 carne asada. The carne asada was f’ing delicious. I really wish j went with my gut and got all 4 asada. Didn’t care too much for the pork though. I did love the atmosphere here. While sitting I notified several regulars come in and spout things like,“my usual”…and even at one point saw a young kid high five the chef. Wished j lived this way so I could try more of the menu and be on fist bump terms with the chef :)

Fast, price point is good, and most importantly, delicious. Couldn’t be happier. The carne asada nachos were absolutely amazing. In fact, I am writing this review a month after going; I can’t get those nachos off my mind. Looks like I’ll have to make another trip to San Diego…

Holy guacamole. I usually get the California burrito with grilled chicken instead of carne asada and no sour cream. It is perfection. I didn’t grow up on the west coast so I am not a Cali burrito connoisseur but I do love food and this place hits my happy spot every single time. This is a family enterprise and they are a happy, friendly bunch. I don’t know what else to say but try this place! Get the pickled carrots and the green sauce ;)

Love this place! I’m a fan of the hard shell shredded beef tacos and the California burrito. Go for the green salsa! It is a San Diego local gem.

Really enjoyed the california burrito! Meat was well done and flavorful – all for a great price! PS– they have an awesome 50 cent temporary tattoo machine… I got Jack Nicholson from The Shining! Stoked.

B E S T B U R R I T O S in Point Loma. Their California burritos are so good and their service is always fast. I’ve never had a bad experience eating here. All things aside… Cali burrito + bacon = orgasm.

I love this place! It’s a regular stop during our crazy week of life. They offer solid food at good prices. The only thing I would change is that they came up with a way to make sure their veggie nachos are made the same by each employee. Sometimes they’re GREAT and others… meh. I think whoever is cooking switches up based on their own taste.

Best Sabrosa and Carne Asada fries on the Point. They cook the shrimp just right for the Sabrosa and the whole flavor of the steak and shrimp combined make the burrito a great combo. And it’s huge! The Carne Asada fries get both the beef AND the fries right. Most places neglect the quality of the fries and they turn out bland and which drags down the whole thing. These guys have the best fries in the area. Plus, it’s a big portion of everything. Only reason they get only 4 stars is for the parking. It sucks.

I called while I was driving to place a take out order. No one answered so I hung up. When I arrived the phone was ringing. Some guy with a red shirt and red hat with glasses picked it up and hung up and then took my order. Not kosher at all.

We have been coming here for years. Tried a variety of choices on their menu. Nothing beats their Sabroso. It is filled with rice, carnesada and shrimp with a special tardy sauce to die for. I truly recommend it! It gets bit crowded in there but we take it to go. The prices are so reasonable too! Come here for some good Point Loma Mexican food. Always fresh! Came here again. Ordered Cabezas and have no regret l

We came upon this place and decided to give them a try. The area/shop may seem a little run down, but don’t let that steer you away. The shop was pretty clean. The parking lot isn’t that big, so you may need to find parking elsewhere. There are a few tables to sit at inside. The staff was nice. And, they provided quick service. We were craving chips, so we shared an order of Carne Asada Nachos without beans. Other than the beans, we got the chips with all the normal toppings — meat, salsa fresca, guacamole, sour cream, and shredded cheese. The serving size was good enough for 2 people. We had a bit of mixed feelings about the nachos. One of us thought it was really good, while the other thought it was just good. I guess that would average out to being pretty good? We also got a large Horchata which was also pretty good. However, the cup had a lot of ice and not enough Horchata. Overall, not the best taco shop out there, but we’d go back again.

We searched for burritos on Unilocal and we found this taco shop near our hotel. I was searching specifically for Machaca and this place had it. We ordered the Machaca burro, some«California» burritos, chicken tacos and salsa. MMMM. These giant burritos hit the spot. The Machaca with egg burrito was good but you do need the salsa otherwise it’s teeny bit bland I would have liked more spice in the meat. The giant fresh flour tortillas that wrapped the Machaca were delicious. California burritos had some chewy slices of steak but it needed more guacamole and maybe some rice and sour cream… I dont know it wasn’t a stand out maybe we ordered the wrong thing? Chicken Tacos were greasy and just okay but devoured by Mr. G. The burritos were huge and filling. Overall satisfied and if you’re in a pinch and NEED a burrito come here.

I wish I had spent more time in the area, because I wanted to return to Ortiz’s Taco Shop to try so many more things. We came for the carne asada. Unilocal sent us. I was impressed. Going with a side of beans and the mini tacos, which come in a double wrap of corn tour tortillas as a four pack, was ample enough. And each was tipped to the brim with carne, and also fresh onion and cilantro. Oh yeah. This place is the spot, and it is quite popular. Folks never stopped walking through the door the entire time we were there. Menu items include carnitas, chicken, beef, pastor, cabeza, buche and fish tacos; chile relleno; bean and cheese burritos; a whole host of tortas; and the combination plates, which come with rice, beans and tortillas. Standard taco shop fare. Be forewarned: There is not much room to sit. And you may find yourself asking for additional condiments. No sweat, though. The staff is cordial and responsive. Though parking is a beast! The lot is teeny tiny, so expect to park on the street and walk over. Would return again and again.

We went here on a Thursday evening and were SO happy with the food! And it’s cheap! We searched all over San Diego for good Mexican on the cheap and were disappointed apart from this place. We got the veggie burrito and the shrimp burrito — both excellent. Huge portion too! Definitely go here for a quick, cheap, great tasting meal!

Believe the hype! I had takeout from Ortiz’s for a lunch. Had to wait in line about 10 – 15 minutes during peak lunch time(noon thirty). Got back to the office with my reasonably priced food and had four folks purposely stop in to ask about what I was eating because they were jealous. I had ordered carne asada fries, Cali burrito and four tacos al pastor to share with my hubby. I had about 60% of the fries and was full(I’m pregnant and eat like a man, seriously, but I was full). My other co worked had the other 40% of the fries. My husband had two tacos which he rated«epic»(he has only previously approved Tacos El Gordo’s al pastor until this). Another co worker ate the other two tacos. He also had half the burrito. And another coworker had the other half. So, in total, we fed 4 grown men and my pregnant self with food that should have only fed 3. And if I hadn’t been greedy about the fries, someone could have had a snack. ;P Food was excellent. I mean, look at the carne asada fries picture on here and try not to salivate(challenge not aimed at non-red meat eaters).

Ortiz’s SAVED us while my boyfriend and I were on vacation. It was open late, was super casual, and was super cheap. No kidding, we ate here THREE times on our five night stay. Each and every time, we left thrilled. From personal experience, my boyfriend and I can attest to the deliciousness of: the carne asada fries, the sabroso burrito, the california burrito, and two orders of the rolled tacos(incredible). The low key, no BS atmosphere of this place is the ultimate win. You’re not paying for froofroo aesthetics, as there is only a small dining room, and no public restroom, BUT– this place was spotless each time we went in, and the staff couldn’t have been better. If you’re in the market for a small, corner taco shop, look no further. If we’re in the Point Loma area again, I’m sure we’ll be back. PS: Try the salsa that comes in the yellow mustard bottle. No, seriously. Whatever you’re eating will be better. You can thank me later.

We found this taco shop courtesy of Unilocal and were craving tacos and carne asada fries. Small taco shop on a dark corner and when we walked in we were greeted with a smile and how can I help you. I went with the team members recommendation and ordered the Cali burrito and my boo went with the carne asada fries and we were not disappointed. The asada fries were LOADED with carne asada, fresh fries and all the works. My burrito was rolled in a fresh warm tortilla, loaded with fries, carne asada and the works only to find out I ordered the same as my boo only rolled in a tortilla! The dining area is clean, there is a flat screen with college football and the jarritos were nice and cold. We were completely satisfied from the customer service to the fresh food and the A from the dept of health. We are full and happy
