I think this is the better option for Catholic goods in San Diego. They have a larger selection for books than O’Connors. Only downside is that they are not open on Sundays when most people are feeling holy after mass. Make sure to get your goodies before.

The staff was extremely helpful. I was looking for something to comfort a friend who had just lost a newborn child. They were very knowledgeable and made great recommendations.

I LOVETHISSTORE! Very very inexpensive! I def find myself coming here again! Many great Religious books and cute little Catholic items! I gave it a 4 star because Customer Service was not the best– the lady was not very attentive and when it was time to check out she acknowledged it but continued to count her inventory. There were also little prayer cards that I was interested in but she told me I couldn’t look at them for 30 minutes because she needed to count them first… It was also extremely hot in there. But the store itself is PHENOMENAL!

Huge variety of Catholic/general Christian books — more than I’d expected from the size if the store. Lots of gift items, prayer cards, chaplets, etc. Nice staff, and they don’t bug you while you’re just browsing. I was a little confused trying to get here though, just kind of an awkward area… If you find the Sufi market, Coco’s, or a pool supply store, know that you’re close. Just park and look around. Haha! I think the store is actually next door to a deli and a martial arts place. Anyway, it’s pretty close to Mesa college, which is convenient for me. Check it out!

If you are looking for a new Bible, a St. Christopher medal, or maybe a crystal rosary, this is the place to go. The selection is impressive and the staff is friendly. They even have a children’s section. Doesn’t look like much on the outside, but it’s clean and neat and quiet inside.

For a little store, I wasn’t thinking it would have much for baptismal gifts. I was so wrong. I found almost everything I needed: the Baptismal candle, a book on Godparenting, and 2 children’s books on virtues and Bible Stories. What I couldn’t find was a Noah’s Ark wall ornament and a cuter picture frame that could hang on the wall. The staff were super friendly, and that really made it such a joy to just shop and ask questions.

I was looking for Mother’s Day gifts for my mom and my eldest aunt, who is also like a mother to me. I figured a Catholic book/gift store would be the best place especially since Catholics really celebrate Mother’s Day well by honoring the Virgin Mary. It was a bit hard to find. It’s in the same plaza as Chase but you have to circle around the plaza until you find a brown building next to Coco’s. That’s where Pauline Books and Media will be. They had many different types of rosaries ranging in price from $ 25 – 40 coming in all sorts of colors from yellow to light blue to pink. They also had bracelets with images of saints on them. Additionally, they had prayer cards where one side is an image of a saint and the other side is a prayer. I carry one in my wallet so I got two different images of Mary for my mom and aunt. They were beautiful! My favorite is the image of Mary holding a sleeping baby Jesus in her arms. And only $.75 each too! They also have books on faith, children’s bibles, religious cards, and bookmarks($ 1.25). The woman who was going around helping each customer find what they needed was very polite and sweet. I will definitely be back when in need of a Catholic gift!

If you’re Catholic or quasi-Catholic or you are shopping for a gift for someone who is Catholic — come here. This is the BEST Catholic bookstore/gift shop I’ve been to so far. The store is run by nuns who were extremely nice when I was there and also very knowledgeable(duh-right?) :) Great spot for Catholic gifts.

The Pauline Books & Media is a Catholic bookstore, run by the sisters and laity of the Daughters of St. Paul order. This store stocks a fair amount of books, music, DVDs, children’s books, cards, and gifts(crosses, religious art, etc.). They have a large selection of Bibles as well as books on Catholic and Christian theology, spirituality, philosophy, prayers, saints’ lives, church doctrine, religious history and more. The staff is helpful and polite — if you don’t know what you are looking for, just ask! They helped me today find some books to give as a present. I’ve gone there quite a few times over the years to find gifts for baby baptisms, books for those getting confirmed, Catholic wedding supplies, etc. They also have a chapel in the back of the store, open for prayer. They take Visa and Mastercard, but not American Express.
