(Now Pete’s) A decent burger without the line at Hodad’s.

They deliver burgers, y’all. And not just burgers. Also hot dogs, chili dogs, kraut dogs, BBQ Tri-Tip Sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, fried zucchini(!), chili cheese fries, even shakes and sodas. The food is decent and delivery is prompt. I’ve never been to the actual restaurant, so I can’t speak to the facilities, but the staff is always nice and none of my orders have been screwed up yet. Highly recommended for OBetians who want something delivered that isn’t pizza(our only other option).

PDQ is literally the only reason why I miss living in Barrio Loma(aka Loma Portal). PDQ serves up all the good stuff like chili dogs, burgers, chicken sandwiches(I get mine with pineapple — it rules!) and delicious shakes and it’s all SUPER cheap. I’m talking a good-sized dinner for two(burgers, fries, shakes) for around $ 15. And JUST when you thought PDQ couldn’t get any better, THEYDELIVER! I cannot even tell you how many times I’ve gotten a late-night craving, called up my friends at PDQ and enjoyed some serious grub on the cheap(OK, so maybe I can tell you how many times but I won’t). Anyway, if you’re looking for that grass-fed, save-the-earth junk, look elsewhere. PDQ isn’t much more than a truly awesome fast food joint. Ahhh, I miss you, PDQ!

I gave it three stars because it’s cheap and I really like their veggie burger and sides(they’re fried, how can you not like that?). I also love that you can get an iced tea larger than your head for under $ 2. However, for their meat products… I am not the first of my friends to get sick from them. *cringe*

They serve«good» burgers. A solid«good»; not lousy and not extraordinary, just«good». The fries are a little better than good; they’re thin and crispy and not too oily. I’ll say«very good». So why the 5 stars you might be thinking? Because a lunch special that includes a quarter pound charburger, fries and a 16oz BEERFORONLY5DOLLARSISUNFUCKINBELIEVABLE!!! They also got a big screen TV showing baseball. I’ve just become a regular!

Free delivery, where do I sign? For just a slight step down from In’n’Out quality, you can have a PDQ burger, or better yet, chili burger, for a little bit more money, plus have it delivered in PL or OB. What a deal. The shakes are delicious(try the orange) and cheesesteak is passable. The chili anything is what it’s all about though. I can’t recommend ordering delivery enough, it’s just too convenient. Do hook the driver up with a fatty five dollar bill for the effort. Chili, chili, chili on demand. I can’t comment on the actual facility since I only order delivery.

They flame broil the burger fer chrissake. The beers a $ 1.50. Keep your eyes peeled for a 2 for 1 coupon. The coupons are in the Pennysaver and many of the local free paper(Beacon Etc.) They call it a walk in special. But there is true justice in 2 beers and 2 burgers for under $ 10.00.

Ahhh much to be said for a low-key burger joint with great phone service and timely delivery for a Sunday when I’ve chosen to invest an extra 45 minutes into gaming, rather than getting up, putting on clothes, and finding food like a low-tech hunter/gatherer. Cheap food, great burgers, the BEST chili cheese fries I’ve ever had, crispy onion rings, and absolutely the perfect solution to «Damn, we’ve only got $ 15 dollars but don’t want to cook or leave the house». No salads or anything like that, just burgers, chicken, fries, and standard burger joint food. I wonder if they deliver their milkshakes… EDIT: Yes, they do deliver milkshakes. And they’re delicious.

A pretty lackluster burger. I feel bad, because the people who work there are cool and try hard. But their burgers really just don’t pass muster(soggy, uninteresting, pretty unremarkable). And their onion rings are about as boring as any I’ve ever had. The place itself ain’t bad. I like the movie pictures on the walls. But basically, they did nothing to impress me food-wise.

This place is a great buger place. Again you can add mushrooms and bacon to a burger so I love it. The burgers are good, the fries are ok. Cheap beer too! The place looks a little run down, and the staff kinda acts like they are doing you a favor by taking your order, which just adds to the charm of the place. If you are in the Point Loma/OB area I suggest you give this place a try.

Nomatter where I live I tend to settle on a small number of staple restaurants and wear those restaurants until they are tattered and torn and smell funny nomatter how many times I wash them. This small club almost always consists of 1) a Mexican food restaurant that makes good fish tacos 2) a sandwich place that toasts the bread, and 3) a burger joint without a drive-thru. PDQ was my burger joint for a good two years and they did me well. Better than fast food but with fast food prices, and offering delivery to the entire Point Loma/Ocean Beach area, PDQ is a real gem hidden on the east end of Voltaire Street. Call in for delivery before the game, or pick up at halftime, and PDQ will join your club too. I promise. AV
