I finally went to pecs. i am female or a mujere as mentioned by Lisa T. Also, Lisa T. wrote a negative comment, and I wanted to find out for myself if women were not welcomed in the bar. I am not sure what kind of situation happened to Lisa T. in Pecs, but I was treated quite well! Lisa T. must have acted like un puta! that was the consensus of all the people at the bar!
I will go again. nice patio!!! nice people! Eddie is the best!

Great drinks! And the service was fast. Could bring in outside food for the hash.

I love it here. It’s big spacious and the staff are fast behind the bar as well as very friendly. The bar is really big has a few different rooms and I love that I can move back and forth between the two. The outdoor patio is a nice chill spot. Lots of things do while you hang out here from Pool tables, Dart boards, juke box, & my all time favorite Pinball machine too… All the staff I’ve ever met are sweet and super cool, I love them all. I almost forgot to mention the hot hot «girls, girls, all sorts of Girls» that go here ! Cheers and see Ya there !

How can you not love this place?! It’s full of bears, it’s dark and dingy, and is overflowing with testosterone. GRRRR! Best bar in San Diego! Find me on the patio chatting with Brian the bartender sipping a cider. Woof!

This is the best Bar in town, all the bartenders are super nice. Especially Brad! And Gunther! It’s a bar I have been going to for 25 years! There is one Bartender Jasper who is fucking amazing and gorgeous! Everyone there will make it a amazing evening! Check it out!!!

I mean, this is a fun, dark, strong drink pouring gay bar. It’s fun, the atmosphere is high energy and the people that go here are usually amazing to talk to. My girlfriend and I (shocker, I’m straight!) have gone here twice now, and the first time, we got in with no problem, but the bartenders were really rude to us as a straight couple, and frankly we felt a little like we shouldn’t have been there. No worries, we chalked it up to a bad bartender or he was having a bad day or something. We went a second time and I went in and my girlfriend was being carded. I went to the bar (yes, I didn’t wait for her, I am a bad boyfriend), and waited. And waited. Finally the doorman comes up to me and says that my gf wasn’t allowed in and she wanted me to come out. Turns out that they said she was drunk and they couldn’t serve her. Weird, because we hadn’t pre-​gamed nor drank anything at all. So we aren’t going back and we live four houses down from them. It’s a shame that this group at pecs, who has fought so hard against discrimination is so discriminatory themselves.

This bar is the best the line of gay bars on University has to offer. It is reasonably priced, great patio, and very attentive bartenders (especially Terry). As a tourist I always loved coming here and as a resident now its become my go to bar.

Bartenders Brad and Eloy, are helping me start my Sunday off right! I love the outside bar/​patio and the pool tables inside. It doesn’t hurt that I can control the jukebox from my phone.
This place really gets packed fri/​sat nights. I like coming Tuesday through Thursday, where I can interact with new people and maybe hit the pool tables.

Hands down, pecs has the strongest and least expensive drinks in town. Love, love, love the bartenders Eloy and Brad. High 5 Pecs.

fun time and good music

Been here a once after wondering what was inside the mysterious bar that has no sign and no advertising. I knew if was a gay bar but always wondered why no advertising?! Turns out it pays homage to a time when gay bars were more hidden in plain sight. Anyways the bar is more of a hangout for older men but there’s also a younger crowd too. The place is huge with a larger outdoor deck area (closes early) and plenty of room inside. The drinks here were mega cheap with a pitcher of Sierra Nevada pale ale running $ 8! I couldn’t believe it and really changed my mind about this place. Bathrooms were also clean

PECS… like being on the Titanic after the last lifeboat has left…

Straight girls ruin everything.
I’ve been noticing an incremental accumulation in the percentage of vagina that visits this place recently.
I mean, it’s gotten so bad that you actually have to let the females use the girl’s restroom. No longer can it be sanctuary for your pooping or cocaine needs.
This place is pretty predictable. It’s always the same guys playing pool. The same dudes in the corner throwing darts. And the same trolls taking cheap feels when they can.
Be aware: drinks are cheap and strong. Your panties will be on the ground faster than you think.

It’s a decent bar and convenient to where I live if I want to throw back a brew, but some of the bartenders are old and unfriendly. Other than that, I still come frequently for beer and a seedy evening of daddy fun.

A fun dive with a great vibe.
I enjoy stopping here whenever I’m in San Diego. Always the perfect music on the j-​box, from Lady Gaga to Country, and some great bear cruising around the pool tables. Some of the bartenders are quite nice. Even while working under pressure they remain fun and friendly. Overall place is well run.
The parking is not the greatest especially on weekends, but at the most you walk only a couple of blocks and well worth it once you make it in.

The drinks are strong and cheap. Great alternative if you are in the mood up have a drink and not be bother… with the drama of some clubs.

Been coming to this bar for over 13 yrs. I like the laid back atmosphere, and the fact that there are lots of middle aged guys there like me — love the bears. But, for the life of me I can’t understand how the bartenders keep their jobs. Just the most crankie, crotchety guys behind a bar that I’ve ever seen. I am always nice and always tip, but DAMN if you hate being behind the bar so much… go somewhere else!
All of my friends and I hate even asking for a drink because there’s going to be some snide comment or attitude to deal with. Just last week I was there with two friends and one of them said, «I really want another drink, but I don’t want to deal with those guys.» He ended up nursing his melting ice instead. I wish management or the owner would take the attitude problem seriously. I might buy more than one drink if they did.
