Well, the Peets in Albertson’s is no more. Those who turned their noses up got a more known coffee company in there. It isn’t as good but it is good. I do not go anymore. I miss having a Peets close to me.

I wish I could like this place. It’s so incredibly convenient for me across the board, but their coffee/lattes/etc are terrible. I have tried several different items and everyone of them lacks flavor/pizzazz/you name it, it’s not there. I tried the cinnamon gingerbread latte and it was watered down cinnamon water. I had the pumpkin spice latte, it tasted like watered down spice water. I only give this place two stars primarily because of convenience and the staff is incredibly nice, which is unfortunate that the coffee is that bad. I wish I could continue to come here, but I feel like I am wasting money when I do. I know there are several other places that I can go out of my way to in order to get my morning coffee, but this nice and easy one is definitely not the case.

On a positive note, the people who work here are über friendly. I’ve never seen a bitter look when I’ve requested some complex concoction. They are a truly a pleasant group of baristas. However. This review is for coffee. And for some reason the HOT coffee at this joint is always tinged with this scorched, overcooked kinda taste. All the Splenda packets in the world can’t get rid of it and trust me, i’ve tried. It should be noted that this is coming from a girl who drinks Starbucks coffee black. The ICED coffee is not so bad but the flavor doesn’t hold its own enough that you could drink it unsweetened, which is what I would prefer. I rarely get blended drinks, but once when I had a craving I ordered an iced blended nonfat vanilla drink. I don’t think it was the espresso that woke me up as much as the shock of what felt like an entire bag of sugar seeping into my blood. Needless to say, way too sweet. I keep coming back because the place is inside Albertsons(which is majorly convenient) and its just easy to grab a cup of joe when I’m there grocery shopping. That is certainly a perk. But sadly the coffee here lacks bigtime. The caffeine will do the job but you just may not enjoy it so much as it goes down.

Oh dear. Someone from Alameda needs to come down and kick some franchise butt. In the Bay Area I pretty much only drank Peets but, oh dear, something is terribly wrong here. Albertson’s is evil, I don’t know what I was doing in there anyway. That was before I found Smart and Final down the block.

YIKES! Peets, please don’t go by the way of corporate death-bucks! This is a clear example of brand dilution. Peets has sold their soul to Albertsons and we are the ones that pay the price. I ran in to get some good strong coffee and a pound to take home. The barista(trained by Albertsons, not Peets) made me the most bland iced coffee of all time. It bearly tasted like coffee even though I paid for a double shot. I didn’t see any decaf coffee on the shelf, so I asked the barista if she had any. She found some, but it wasn’t until I got home that I noticed that it was already ground. Blah! And to top it all off, the barista didn’t know their own policy of giving a free coffee with every lb. of coffee purchased. I asked and the barista said that she had to go talk to the manager.. . blah b. lah blah, and it took so much time that I ended up just leaving in frustration. Peets! Please save us and yourselves! Either train these in-store folks, or don’t sell your brand to grocery stores! Take note! Even the ‘bucks is learning that they have to sharpen their coffee skills or lose customers to McDonalds iced coffee.

is this a sick joke? they put a Peet’s INSIDE an Albertsons!!! the best cup of coffee the world has to offer is inside an albertsons? an albertsons? that’s like putting a picasso inside an ikea. fuck me, finally peet’s has a location in SD outside of hillcrest and la jolla and they choose the inside of a shitty grocery store. smart. how do i rate this? peet’s coffee deserves six stars, not even five. six. but albertsons? maybe one. ok, three. i’m splitting the difference. i’ll give hillcrest a 5 star to make up for it.

This Peet’s location is actually in the Albertson’s on 14th Street in the East Village. Don’t count on it being open too late, we tried to get something after 5pm one time and it wasn’t open. They have a special right now since they just opened. I think it runs till 7⁄10 where you can buy one Freddo(it’s their version of a frappachino) and get one Freddo for free. You can find coupons for this on any of the checkout counters. The green tea Freddo was pretty good. Not as good as Dietrich’s(are they even still open?!) but pretty good :)
