Heard from the owners today that they are shutting down the restaurant. Been about 13 years eating here, the good and bad. Missed the original owner cause he was customer friendly.

Worst Experience Ever! I came to this place for the first time with my mother and we both were very displeased with the lack of professionalism and the low expectations for caring about the customers. Any business should know and care about providing quality customer service to their customers. I could only eat soft foods because I had went to the dentist earlier that day so I ordered the tofu vegetable phở soup, as the server suggested I should, and when I got my food it was mostly all vegetables which were too hard for me to eat so I wanted to exchange it for something that I could enjoy. Our waiter continued to go back and forth between us and his supervisor(which I’m pretty sure was one of the owners) trying to explain to us that they could not re-use the food so I wouldn’t be able to get something else. By this time a second waiter came over to reinforce their policy, it wasn’t until we got upset because me and my mother were baffled at the fact that they didn’t care that I couldn’t eat my food or that I wasn’t enjoying my food. The only concern they had was that they couldn’t «re-use» the food. That’s absolutely ridiculous. The supervisor finally walked over by this point, which she should have done after the first complaint, gave us a hard time and finally agreed to just«take it back.» She had absolutely no concern about trying to make sure that I get something else that I would walk away pleased with. I just sat there until my mother was done eating. This was a very disappointing experience for me. Words to management: Making money and turning a profit is great for your business but without your customers you simply have no business. Take some time to become educated on the importance and benefits of providing excellent customer service. Thank you for listening.

Yummy food, came here 4 times n counting!!! Fresh coconut juice, durian juice n jackfruit juice are really good. Fresh spring rolls, tilapia wraps, phở, beef stew, noodles are yummy! My daughter’s fav restaurant. It’s too bad the location is a bit far from where we live, 25 min drive to this place. Btw, parking is a bit challenging specially dinner times!

This place has great phở at reasonable prices and no waiting unlike other places in convoy. The service is friendly too. I really liked their phở ga(chicken phở). The broth was tasty. The meat was quality and I had the option of upgrading to white meat for a few extra dollars. My order came with a delicious side of ginger to dip my chicken in. Vegetables here were served were fresh and the provided all the sauces you’d ever need for your phở. I had a good dinning experience here and I’d come here again.

Used to work nearby, but my offices are in mission valley now. But I STILL make regular trips up for Phở Tai and spring rolls. It’s as good as ANYWHERE else I’ve tried in the city, and I love the atmosphere — reminds me of the Phở joints I used to hit up when I lived on the east coast during and just after the college years!

Almost a year since I’ve been here last and still — I have say it — the food is really underrated for this place. It’s one of those rare places where I can say that food and service is always consistently awesome. The parking lot is really the only drawback for this place. Definitely worth the stop — you won’t be disappointed!

It was nice to look at the menu and to see the influence of the recipes. I ordered Vietnamese Crêpe with a Durian Smoothie. Vietnamese crêpe is typically savory, and here, I ordered it vegetarian. This is new because I have not yet eaten it without fish sauce. Bánh Xèo is an interesting recipe. It might have been inspired by France, the influence is evident in the writing system.(Vietnam no longer uses Ch Nôm). The added ingredient of Turmeric indicates influence from India. The crêpe was prepared with tofu and some sort of white vegetation. I was not too excited about the tofu, but much to my surprise, it was delicious! Wow! The portion was meal size and it was lean. As a finger food, I wrapped it in lettuce, then once more with a mint leaf. And lastly, dipped it into the sauce. It looked wonderful. There is not a wonder in why we love this recipe so much. The ingredients are rice flour, turmeric powder, and water. The shell has an omelette like appearance. As a batter, the rice flour offers a crispy texture, and the turmeric powder offers an aroma and a yellow — orange hue. The rice flour also mimics the rice’s natural fluffiness, which gives it the egg like appearance. The Durian Smoothie is nice and refreshing. At its best, it is rich and silky. If you are searching for something delightful, then please consider this experience.

Cindy served us like a champ as her first guests at 10am. She was the epitome of «hostess with the mostest.» The food came out 7 minutes after we ordered– remarkable! The fresh bbq chicken salad rolls were extraordinary with hot flavorful marinated chicken in freshly wrapped rice paper. The chicken sate were packed with flavor They came with a wonderfully sweet and spiced curry sauce The short ribs with vermicelli were wonderful. There are wonderful condiments on the table to season your dishes with including white pepper, fresh chilies and Fish sauce!!! Cindy patiently poured my fresh pressed vietnamese coffee with a smile. What a great way to start the day. We will be back this week:)

UNDERRATED!!! Very nice menu. Loved the specials and the range of dishes, but had to go with bun bo hue for the first time with a half order of egg rolls. Egg rolls come out quick and I can tell how they present their herb plate how the food is going to be. The herb plate was done perfectly and the egg rolls had that great greasy inside and nice flaky crunch casing. The bun bo hue comes out shortly after with another nice herb plate. The bowl is HUGE for a regular size, chock to the brim with everything. I thought the server saying«spicy» was just to let me know the dish is, but they make it extra spicy if you agree. Spiciest broth I’ve had in SD so far, and one of my favorite broths. Everything is delicious. They don’t server red cabbage, oxtail or cubed pork blood with their dish. They comp it with cha lua, meatballs and extra fatty flank. Nice change of pace. Can’t go wrong here.

This place is a fairly unique find for one reason. It is a nondescript restaurant in(ever for the Convoy Corridor) a nondescript mall. It is clean, but just barely so. They do have quite a selection of different soft drinks and beer. The parking lot gets super packed during regular lunch hours, so I do not recommend going during the weekdays for lunch. It’s pretty much right next to the bar that used to be Victor’s. Let me start off by saying that the phở does not even make my top 10 list. It has an ok flavored broth, but there is nothing particularly special about it. If you a a phở connoisseur, please don’t go here expecting the best phở in San Diego, they don’t have it like that. If you are expecting a «decent» phở… they have that. The absolute standout on the menu is #58, Bun 7 Mon-SEVEN types of meat on rice vermicelli salad…1)BBQ Pork, 2) Shrimp Paste wrapped around a stick of sugar cane, 3) shredded pork skin, 4) BBQ Beef, 5) Grilled Chicken, 6) Grilled Shrimp and finally 7) Fried spring rolls(Vietnamese egg-rolls, skinny like lumpia). I have never been to a restaurant that piles that much protein in the Bun… maybe 3 at most without adding side orders. It costs about $ 13.00, the flavors are amazing, and it is every bit as good the next day as when it was served to you, I just pack the proteins separately in little piles to keep the flavors from mixing in a standalone container. Am a big eater and have never been able to finish this at one sitting, so if you divide the cost by half(two meals), it is a very reasonable price… you could also share this between two people. Try this place for this dish, and you will thank me later.

Best phở in San Diego. The phở soup was dynamic and complex. I like the thinner type of noodle that they have and the copious amounts of meat in each bowl. I also got their spring rolls that were reminiscent of brodards with their crunchy happiness in the middle but the sauce accompanying it wasn’t as good. Place is a little run down and could be a problem for parking.

I just opened my Unilocal acct strictly to write this review and hope the owner reads this and takes action before it goes out of business. I’m not picky with food by any means, but I have to say this was by far the worst place i’ve ever had. That’s not even my issue. If an inspection was done to this place, it would completely fail. The entire place was dirty and unsanitized and the restaurant was filled with smoke when I walked in. The service was good though. They were polite and stuff. But our food came too fast. We ordered 3 plates worth of food and it was literally ready in less than a minute! The best part of the food was my cup of water. We hardly touched our meals. I still left an 18% tip because i just felt really bad for the workers and it’s not like they forced me to eat there. unfortunately, they will not see me there anymore.

Whats for lunch today. OK Phở Ga… You can’t really go wrong on that, or can you? Maybe it’s to early to say, but perhaps the Durian Fruit Smoothie altered my perception of taste. This fruit, better know as the«stinky» fruit has an obnoxious taste, a combination of Garlic/Onion and sugar, with some very weird smell. Anyway, needless to say, I did not finish the smoothie. But I am proud to have had the stomach to taste it. As for the Phở GA, the soup was slightly under-seasoned. I added my usual assortment of greens, lime etc. but it wasn’t satisfying. I found myself leaving ½ of the bowl behind. But there is an upside. Our waitress was super sweep. If it wasn’t for her, I drop a star from my rating today. Thanks guys. PS: Parking was impossible at 12:30PM on xmas Day.

Been coming here for YEARS. The phở here is mediocre, good but nothing to write home about. But my money 99% of the time is on the broken rice & sole fish. The price has increased about $ 2(its $ 8.45) over the past 5 years but its always been a generous deal. It comes with warm, tasty broken white rice, a giant fried sole fish packed with flavor topped with fresh green onions, a sweet/sour dipping sauce that balances the oily fried fish, a side salad of carrots/lettuce, and a miso soup. Amazing deal. Also any of their smoothy drinks are delicious. If you’re coming for phở, a solid 3 to 4 star place considering the great prices. But if you come for the sole fish — 5 stars all the way.

My girlfriend and I came in today 9÷8÷14 for some Vietnamese food. Having to have been in the area, she and I decided to give this place a try after not being here for some time. This is how it went. Walked in, wasn’t greeted. The server then pointed to what booth we shall sit in, aside from walking us to it. Brought the menu, my girlfriend and I both choose their«Phở Tai»(rare steak) and asked for extra meat on of the orders. No more than a MINUTE later both bowls of phở comes out. Makes me wonder what goes on in that kitchen. The phở was tasteless, but we were hungry. And ate it all. The broth was blah, tasted water down and the meat was wasn’t good. The lady working the register who I suppose was the owner/manager, please get off your phone next time I’m trying to pay. I would appreciate being acknowledged. Our server was very polite even though my glass of water sat empty. Would I be back? Probably not. Oh I forgot to mention 3 extra slices of beef costed an extra $ 3.75WOW! Half the price of a small bowl.

Phở convoy is my go-to restaurant whenever I’m craving for a hot bowl of phở. It’s not too far away from UCSD, the food is delicious, cheap and comes in huge portion. I really like the taste of their phở broth. The broth is really flavorful but not too salty. Curry here is also really good, especially the catfish curry. Give it a try if you are not in the mood for phở.

So my rule is… it has to have«Phở» in the name in order to consider getting phở from the place. This place has really great phở… the broth is well seasoned and not oily. I have had other places where there is more oil then broth it seems like. They are super quick with their orders and have you in and out in no time. So whenever I am in a hurry I always hit up Phở Convoy. Totally inexpensive, which is always a big plus in my book. My favorite thing in the menu is actually their curry. It is mild and full of yummy veggies, and really crispy fried tofu. I get the rice with it over the bread every time, I love the fact that you get options. This is a bit oilier in comparison to the phở, but I figure it has to be. Their short ribs with vermicelli noodles is SUPER good. I don’t eat meat anymore, but when I did, that was my to go to thing. And their fish sauce is great! Go here if you want good Viet food for a steal!

My very first Phở experience in San Diego and probably in a very very long time! In fact, I don’t think I was even an adult since the last time I had Phở. I guess it took my Vietnamese buddy to take my wife and I to Phở Convoy Noodle House last night. It was pretty damn good! Need to know: 1. The Phở was really good! I loved the flavor and it was perfect for a cold San Diego evening. We had some spring rolls and egg rolls and they were delicious accessories! 2. It wasn’t incredibly busy, which was nice. 3. Parking was adequate. Lucky we found a spot when we did because of all the other restaurants in the same plaza. 4. Customer service seemed meh. Nothing out of control great or bad. The only thing to mention was that they ended up bringing out my wife a bigger bowl of Phở than what we ordered and still charged us for it. I’m pretty sure we will be back. There are so many choices on their menu, probably going to take me quite a few visits to get through!

For a phở joint, their phở is not that good to me. But maybe it’s because I’m a phở-snob. When the bowl of phở came out, it not only didn’t look appetizing, it didn’t have that wonderful phở smell that would make me salivate. The small plate of bean sprouts and mint leaves looked very sad :(barely any leaves on the little stem, and might I add, only one single stem came with my bowl of phở –_– let’s not be cheap now guys. Other phở joints hand out at least one FULL stem or two wimpy ones. My date ordered the broken rice dish(Com tam 7 mon). It was one big delicious looking plate, and boy did it taste good too! All the flavors just erupting with each bite!!! It came with 7 different items listed on their menu. This totally made up for my phở which I pushed aside and helped myself to my date’s plate.(It was large enough for me to steal food from). Their broken rice and short ribs is delicious as well, you can’t go wrong with Korean BBQ short ribs and rice can you? You gotta get a smoothie from them! They make it fresh and tasty! I like their durian smoothie, but that’s because I’m adventurous and love crazy smelly food that one with regular taste buds can’t stand: P Overall, service is good, rice dishes are amazing, smoothies are rich and delicious. I’ll definitely come back!
