I’ ve never given a one star review but this place deserves it tonight. The pizza I was served was burnt with black edges of crust. I asked for another one and they looked surprised I asked, but they did make another one. The problem here is management, or lack of it. I only saw very young people working here. It was totally unorganized. No one in charge apparently. There was nobody to clear tables so the empty ones one were all dirty. There was no one actually manning the pizza oven, they were taking turns checking the pizzas while rushing to man the cash register or to make the pizzas. This my pizza was unattended for too long and got burnt. There are so many other places to get pizza around here, I will not return.

PizzaRev is a modern and unique pizza restaurant in Scripps Ranch with good pizza and salads. You can craft your own pizza and choose from over 20 toppings then see it cook in the oven for 2 minutes. The crust is super thin, but the pizzas are yummy. A unique restaurant experience, almost like a pizza buffet.

I love pizza and the introduction of build your own pizza places is a godsend. Pizza Rev is good, but not the best. I do love the location. I live less than 10 minutes away, so it’s great not having to drive far for this sort of place. Pizza Studio is nearby, too, but I don’t care for it at all, but that’s for another review. Pizza Rev has a white sauce option, which I love! I usually get the red and white sauce mixed together. I love the crust, though it is very thin, more like a flat bread/cracker than traditional pizza crust. Some people I’ve gone with prefer other places for this reason. Lots of toppings to choose from. Everything is pretty standard, but they do have Sun dried tomatoes and corn, but the corn might have been a special topping for the month. They also have one of those special coke machines/dispensers! With regards to customer service, it’s lacking, though it’s usually a surprise when a young staff provides outstanding customer service. There are some really great employees, but I think they are the minority at this location. The store is pretty big, and seems clean for the most part. I know the last time I visited, one of the employees took out the trash, but left behind the little puddle that leaked from the bag. One thing the workers need to learn is how to put on and distribute toppings. Unlike other establishments, they just grab a handful and put everything in the center or one big pile, to the point where I have to specify«a little bit of this topping» to get a normal amount, or «can you put spread the sauce/topping out,» but the last time I did that, it seemed like the male employee got frustrated with me and just left for someone else to finish my pizza. So, overall, this is a place I would visit again, but mostly for the convenience of the location and that white/red sauce combo.

Hubster spotted the opening of this new pizza joint and wanted to give em a try. Personally, I’ve heard of the sprinkle of other businesses with the same«create your own pizza unlimited toppings»… so I wasn’t expecting much. This was the first time I’ve tried Pizza Rev. and it wasn’t bad. The only other similar business I have to compare it to is Pizza Studio(specifically the downtown location; review here: ). It wasn’t too crowded when we came here for an early dinner. It’s located in the far end of the Von’s plaza in Scripps Ranch. closer to the elementary school. Plenty of parking and the establishment is in a building sort of off to itself. Friendly staff. The girl was kind enough to give us some direction on the process. Not a fan of their wall menu which doesn’t detail all the options of meats and sauces. you sort of have to just go down the line and pick on what you see. or you can chose one of their pre-designed pizzas(or make modification of those pre-designs to your preference). We came up with three concoctions that took the general approach of a white chicken pizza; a standard red sauce combo pizza; and one of their suggested menu items: the meat and peppers(Olive Oil, All-Natural Italian Cheese, Italian Sausage, Crumbled Beef Meatballs, Jalapeños + added red sauce). I think what’s unique about this place — compared to Pizza Studio — is their crust. It’s very thin. but has enough strength to hold up the toppings and just enough give so it’s not hard and unfriendly in texture. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. Liked the meatballs the most. Price was fair and service at this particular location was great. They were nice to bring out the pizzas to us and ask if we needed anything else. Love that they have an array of tabascco sauce and sirracha! Not too bad. :) I’d consider coming by again. I noticed that they also have salads. not sure how that works.(pizza salad?! YUM!) but a tasty find. Definitely worth giving this place a shot. I don’t think there are many«design your own pizza» locations on this end of San Diego. so it’s a nice change up from ordering in or going to CPK or Sammy’s… 4 stars solid and would come back!

WHODOESN’T LOVEPIZZA?! :P Came in here to grab a pizza because I was craving pizza… At first I was overwhelmed because I didn’t know where to start. The dough is made fresh for you on the spot and pressed for you as well to become extra flat for perfection. As you’re in line you will reach the topping part where you can pick ANYTHINGYOUWANT. I love how they have lots of different toppings for you to choose. From meat to cheese, you get some pretty good toppings fresh and at a pretty good price. For one whole pizza for me it was like $ 8 and I put a bunch of toppings! Be careful on going overboard with the topping. It’s not too good having a lot because it seems like it doesn’t cook thoroughly. Also, you can chose from a red or white sauce or even make it half and half! I picked half and half and made each side with different toppings. This place does tend to get pretty busy during lunch time so call in ahead of time of try to beat the rush(:

Unlimited toppings. Fresh ingredients Before I go on id like to mention what separates this build-your-own pizza place from the rest. They have different ingredients which you don’t find at like a pizza studio. Such as sun-dried tomatoes, vegan cheese. A lot of places have gluten free crust but this one does too. Back to the experience. The staff was very polite. I even chopped it up with one of the workers. How they might make one up in Inland Empire. I’d definitely go if it was in my proximity. There is plenty of clean seating and self serve condiments like cheese peppers hot sauce. And that 25 drinks in one dispenser. My pizza. Perfect. I chose a ton of ingredients and my pizza was damn near one of those Mongolian noodle dishes where you stack as much meat and veggies onto you bowl to get the most bang for your buck. The staff was extremely generous in the servings. But what I liked the most is the Oven they use. At pizza studio it’s usually just one of those roller toaster things, like the pancake machine at a holiday inn express, or the toasting machine at a Quiznos. They throw your pizza in an actual deck oven which gives your pie the perfect crispy, warm and baked taste your pizza should have. Good quality craft your own pizza.

Been here 3 times, I love this place. No longer have to worry about getting pizzas that the kids want, I get to pick toppings I want. Prices are great, any and all the toppings you want and the end result is delicious! Plus the staff are all great and friendly. I’ll keep coming back!

The restaurant itself was very spacious, bright and clean. The service was meh. The guy making the pizza dough acted very nonchalantly and didn’t bother greeting us or saying anything to us while we were patiently waiting there quietly. Then the girl making our pizza seemed to rush us and didn’t smile or anything either. Usually at other«Build Your Own Pizza» joints, they would put oil on the crust before putting on white sauce, but this girl just slapped on the white sauce and didn’t ask me beforehand if I wanted any oils on it. And the white sauce did not fully cover the crust but was simply a small circle in the middle. I feel like the even distribution of sauce, cheese, meats, and veggies on the pizza is very important. But instead I got a huge clump of cheese and toppings. I think they need a little extra training. Overall, the pizza is okay. The only thing I like about this place is that they offer prosciutto, which is one of my favorite meats and isn’t offered at any other«build your own» pizza joints. Furthermore, they offer a nice variety of hot sauces for you to take to your table as you please. And they have the touch screen soda machine with tons of fruity soda flavors. That is all.

I have a sneaky suspition that most of the five star reviews are from people new to the build your own pizza scene. Now PizzaRev is fine and it’s better than Pizza Studio that’s for sure, but it does come up behind stalwarts Pieology and Urban Pi. What I liked about PizzaRev was that the base sauce was tomato paste based. My mom used to make pizza that way so it was enjoyable. My favorite Pie here was the BBQ. Again, a thicker BBQ sauce base for me made it enjoyable. Other people at the table had mixed reviews however. Crust was too thin and crispy, pizza was definitely oily, cheese hardened into something very chewy when it cooled a little bit. So in summation a mixed bag. — This location was spacious and had Monday Night Football on(Always a plus). — They also had a «Rev it up» Tabasco Sauce bar. Better selection than Chipotle! — Stock pizzas are so-so, take full advantage of the create your own aspect. Tip, there is a hidden wine menu next to the restroom. The Best Build Your Own 1 — Urban Pi 2 — Pieology 3 — CYO Pizza 4 — PizzaRev 5 — Pizza Studio 6 — Project pie

Pizza made to order and for a fixed price! Whoo hoo! Love the«Subway» style serving. Simple, easy and really good. I never thought I would enjoy it so much… but to my surprise I do! A good amount of ingredients, fast service and I think my families got a new favorite… even my 2 year old asks for it… that’s how you know you’ve found a keeper!

Lol.(My reaction at PizzaRev’s plywood décor motif. Who knew it could be used to such great effect?) Also lol at yet another player entering the fray that is the build-your-own pizza fad. Fortunately, the PizzaRev pizzas are pretty good even if they don’t necessarily stand that far out from their competitors. Points in their favor: their crust is crispier, which helps avoid the oily floppiness that plagues some other versions. The animal-based toppings on my pizza also struck me as higher quality than others’. Lastly, I want to say that I was particular impressed by the honesty of the staff there. I had ordered a pint of beer, but I ended up getting a second for free because the server said he had initially poured the wrong beer. I would probably not have noticed/cared, but he nonetheless did the right thing. Summary: Not quite a PizzaRevolution, but I’d PizzaRevisit.

The spot is well maintained and very open. Lots of capacity to accommodate for busy hours. Servers are super cool and patient. Food counter is similar to a chipotle or subway but much nicer with a lot of options. They literally have all the ingredients to make your favorite pizza. Its value for money as you can put as many toppings for a flat rate. If you are hungry, i would recommend getting one whole pizza for yourself. I have tried a few combinations at this place — following is my favorite Gluten-free dough, Alfredo sauce, sprinkle pesto sauce, mozzarella, ricotta cheese, peppers, lots of spinach, basil, cilantro, sun dried tomatoes topped with mozzarella. Pizza is served fresh on your table and then you go speechless… :)

I have found it. The best freaking thin crust pizza in San Diego. Plus vegan options so both omnivore partner and I can get exactly what we want. First, the service was great. I called and spoke to Johanna, who really took the time to help me understand the process and ingredients. I pre-ordered, which probably isn’t necessary in the future because of how fast the pizzas come out. The timing was perfect though, so no regrets. Upon hearing that toppings were unlimited(say what!?) I ordered the regular crust with vegan(Daiya) cheese, mushrooms, garlic, basil, spinach, vegan sausage and fennel seeds. Ermagherd it was seriously melt in your mouth amazing with a perfect thin cracker crust. The tomato sauce was tangy(and organic!). The veggies were fresh(and organic, again!) and I found myself closing my eyes occasionally(good sign). After finishing the first piece of his pizza, my partner looked over at me and said«This is it, we’ve found it.»(he’s pretty intense when it comes to pizza). And I have to agree. This is the best we’ve had in San Diego, surprising for a fast-ish create your own place! Also he said it was better than Filippi’s pizza, which was music to my vegan ears.(I can’t eat there, so celebrational outings there with his family have been a major downer for me in the past.) Pizza Rev, you complete me.

Pizza via assembly line. Personal or 11inch pizza made your way with your choice of ingrdients. Tried a pizza with everything and their red sauce. The pizza assembler really loaded the pizza. It was tasty and not bad for the price of $ 8.95. We also got a pizza with chicken and BBQ sauce with feta cheese and parmigiana cheese with some extra garlic basil and sun dried tomatoes. The flavors were good. There wax a decent selection of beer and wine and soft drinks. Did not get a chance to try some of the desert pizzas. They looked good. May try next time.

I stopped in Pizza Rev on the way home from work. It is a short drive from the 15 freeway off Scripps Poway Pkwy which is more convenient than traveling to Poway for my favorite quick fire Pizza Studio. I typically order a pepperoni pizza. PizzaRev charges the same price for it($ 8.25) as a pizza with unlimited toppings so I decided to go with the less expensive cheese pizza($ 6.00). That is one thing that I wish PizzaRev and Pieology Corp’s would do is offer a 1 topping pizza at a lower price than their unlimited topping pizza’s, such as Blaze and Pizza Studio. $ 6 wasn’t bad for a cheese pie but still not as good of a value as the $ 6 pepperoni pizza from Pizza Studio. After my pizza arrived I used a few napkins to help degrease it. I liked the pizza more than I expected. The sauce was on the sweeter side which some may not like but I really enjoyed it. I also didn’t mind the thinner crust. I was still a little hungry after eating my pizza but that also comes with just ordering a cheese pie and me having a larger appetite. I will most likely stop by again.

Nothing screams«come at me» like a free pizza flyer in the mail. Darn you good marketing ploy. With two locations to order your pizza we headed out to the one in Scripps Ranch. At first there was a good line but within 15 mins it was wrapping around inside the restaurant where it became a bit difficult to move to your seat. Might as well try to grab everything at once and hope that no one bumps into you.(plus you had a cheerleading squad there and a bunch of mothers with wine glasses so good luck on that end.) It was your run of the mill«make your own pizza» joint that has been popping up all over the place. Think of your neighborhood subway but instead of bread, you get pizza crust. Now you can get it in regular thin pizza or gluten free and slide on over to pick your sauces, cheese, meats and veggies… wait 2 – 3 mins for that sucker to cook and wah-la, your name is called, you get your pizza and you sit down and either love what you made or make a disappointing look and have food envy of the pizza your partner made instead. My pizza consisted of the white sauce, pesto, a little Italian cheese and blue cheese, bacon chunks, cilantro, spinach, artichoke, onions and garlic. That was tasty! The crust I was not to impressed with though. Since it’s so thin, the sides of my pizza a burnt, It kind of reminded me of making my own lavosh pizza it was that thin of a crust. what I did like was their new make your own coke product machine! with so many choices I just picked the strawberry fruit and minute maid lemonade! so many combinations, so little time to have fun and mix and match. hmm. cherry rootbeer? Would I go back? eh. not really. After trying Pieology and Blaze Pizza, Pizza Rev is just another one to add on to the make your own pizza place list. I guess since there is not many up here I can see why people would go crazy for this place.

Thank you Pizza Rev for sending me that mailer for a free pizza! That’s what sent me here in the first place. Lately, there seems to be a burst of build your own pizza spots turning up all over San Diego. I usually hit up Blaze and Pieology but was thrilled when I found a new spot closer to home. What is just as good? Yes! I liked their meat toppings and fresh veggie options. They offer the standard red and white sauces as well as regular and gluten free crust. They are not skimpy on their toppings so ask away if you prefer a fully loaded pie. Co-habby made a funny observation that either the staff that is whipping up your pizza pie is either all female or all male… we prefer the ladies, lol. One had me laughing so hard at her description of the dessert pizza that I had to order it as did the lady behind me. Such enthusiasm! It was decadent that’s for sure… crushed oreo with caramel sauce, custard and cinnamon I think? Sugar overload but ok if you don’t indulge in it daily ;) I’ll definitely return!

«It’s like the Subway of pizza places.» –me «It sounds less sexy when you say it that way.» –boyfriend «It’s like Subway or Chipotle.” – gal behind the counter See! I told ya! I’m loving all these build your own pizza places sprouting up all over San Diego. Each place has their own unique flare so you’re never left feeling like once you’ve had one, you’ve had them all. It’s $ 8.25 for unlimited toppings. Choose your dough, sauce, cheese and then load it up to your hearts desire. I went with the signature dough, organic red sauce, all natural Italian cheese, ricotta, pepperoni, bacon, crumbled meatball, spinach, mushrooms, and pineapple. I saw the anchovies and I was curious. maybe next time. ^__^ My custom crafted pizza came out quick and crispy. The crust brings a perfect crisp in contrast to the loads of toppings. One of my friends grabbed the dessert pizzas. It was sliced in small grab sized pieces, but it was basically the same crust with a sweet spread and crushed Oreo cookies. I would’ve made a marshmallow Crème sauce with Oreos and strawberries maybe with an aged balsamic drizzle. Only thing is when you see everybody else’s pizza creations you think, «why the heck didn’t I put that on my pizza?!» And for reasons like that, I’ll come back to Pizza Rev again.

Stopped by week two since the grand opening. Whatever kinks they had the first week definitely got ironed out because our transaction from start to finish went smooth. There were no lines like opening week. Love this new joint. The concept is similar to Pizza Studio in Poway, where you start with the dough and add toppings as you go down the line. I think there are only two types of dough at PizzaRev — regular and gluten free. The dough here is much thinner than Pizza Studio. Since SR is my hood… I’ll be frequenting this joint moving forward. Price of the pizza are a couple of dollars more than Pizza Studio, but worth it with gas and drive time. The amount of ingredients you get at PizzaRev is not skimped… nope, I didn’t have to beg PizzaRev folks for more veggies after two attempts. My boys love meat and they asked for double everything meat! Love that they had vegan sausage… I didn’t see if they had vegan cheese… but next time I will ask for those who are strict about their diet. This location was well staffed when I visited. They walked around cleaning and picking up any leftovers on the table. Very clean, bright and spacious location. Parking can be a concern since the center gets very busy during dinner time.
