A hidden treasure! This little café is hidden in Mission Hills. Super cute, the girl working there was super sweet, I asked her to recommend me some pastry and she gave me the most delicious lemon cake/bread I have ever tried! the owner makes them! They also have the option of almond milk! And in the back of the café there is a kettle balcony that overviews a little canyon, full of eucalyptus, I felt I was somewhere else! I had a great experience!

The Starbucks-ization of coffee shops is a very real threat to the old time concept of a gathering place for sipping beverages and enjoying good conversation. However, there is a new place that addresses the longing for a café devoid of electronic clutter and Wi Fi surfers. The answer: The Private Parlour-which is for members only. That’s right– memberships run from $ 1500 per year but for that you get West Bean coffee and a master pastry chef is on staff. There are scheduled speakers and a book club. Live music in the evening. Learn to play bridge or chess. Another cool thing-members can use the club for private parties and banquets. I checked the Private Parlour out the other day and it is posh. This unique approach to Mission Hills café society is a trip. 1 UnilocalSTAR omitted for high cost but otherwise a great, novel idea! Bravo!
