Top notch studio. Pro-build and everything is brand new. Control room is amazing. The live room is medium-sized and acoustically tuned. Friendly staff too!

Recording my latest EP at Rarefied Recording was by far the best all-around experience I’ve ever had in a recording studio. The facility offers privacy from the public during your session; beautiful, tranquil, extremely well-kept grounds for a serene creative experience; and state-of-the-art equipment for optimal sound production. The atmosphere is clean and professional,(unlike many local studios), and the studio owner/head engineer Roy Silverstein is the most down-to-earth and easy to work with engineer I’ve ever met, not to mention an amazingly talented and skilled engineer. I need a patient and emotionally safe environment when I record. From the moment I met Roy and all throughout our working together his calm, easygoing demeanor made me feel comfortable, safe and completely at ease. And his stunningly beautiful mixes of my songs completely blew me away. I cannot imagine why I would ever record at another studio again! Rarefied Recording rocks!

HOLYCRAP. This is the nicest recording studio I have ever been to, ever. ever. ever. It’s the vision of experienced engineer and master sound wrangler Roy Silverstein, who some may know as the guy who started The Habitat, the longtime house venue in Golden Hill. I’ve recorded at other places in this city, and nothing even remotely matches Rarefied in quality, professionalism or experience. Mid century aesthetic but modern fidelity. Check the photos and sample recordings he posts on his Facebook page, and you’ll be drooling: Roy is a meticulous professional and you will sound your best at his studio, no doubt about it. It’s so perfectly designed, you won’t want to leave. Rates are absurdly reasonable. I give it 6 months before this place gets discovered and becomes completely, permanently booked up.
