I really have mixed feelings about this hotel. They newly opened on February. Its a very clean hotel, since it is brand new. Rooms are spacious and of course comfortable bed. They have a great view of the bayfront and they are just across from the San Diego trolley which gives guests an easy access to all of downtown. Staff are helpful, especially the kitchen staff. Here are my cons: I think its outrageous to not have an option of self-parking and charge us for valet each night. So to future guests, park at the parking lot right in front of the guest entrance. This hotel’s nightly rate is a 5-star’s rate, which should already include parking. These is a 2-part, standard 4-star hotel. It’s Residence Inn and Springfield all in one building. Their complimentary breakfast is ok. Scrambled eggs, potatoes, pancake potatoes, and more potatoes. They have a heated pool but no jacuzzi. Also the day we were checking out, someone was loudly knocking at my door at 8am. I was half asleep and still wanted to sleep in so I ignored it. It went on for a good minute. I have never experienced this at any hotel and find it very rude. Maybe I’m being too critical since they did just open. But this is a Marriott hotel, so I’m sure they know how the business works.

This is one of the newest Marriott properties in Southern California and a welcome addition to the wonderful selection of hotels in San Diego. The property itself has a very modern design and is well situated to the scenic Embarcadero, Little Italy and is only a short walk from the Gaslamp District. Broadway pier which is a great public place to just sit and relax is right across the street and Santa Fe station offers convenient trolley access to the other parts of downtown. The beds are very comfortable and the showers heads are great(good pressure). The televisions feature internet tv functionality so you can just login to Netflix or YouTube directly on the tv and stream content. I very much enjoyed having the fridge and kitchen to store and reheat leftovers and items I purchased in town. I found the rooms to be very quiet and peaceful. The complimentary breakfast is a great added value. Items like coffee, juice, yogurt, cereal, eggs, potatoes, sausage hash, waffles, and biscuits and gravy were served during my stay, but bacon was notably absent. The 24⁄7 gym has the latest equipment and a pretty decent view. Access is on the same floor as the 5th floor breakfast dining area so I was able to easily get a little workout with a view right after my breakfast. Lastly, I found the staff to be exceptionally nice. Their professionalism and courtesy shines above many others I’ve encountered in downtown San Diego. I look forward to visiting again.

Shockingly unethical behavior by Marriott management at this hotel. The sign at the hotel entrance clearly said«Parking $ 10». Hotel charged me(and many others) $ 40 per day for parking. Front desk said that the $ 10 rate was for non-guests, $ 40 rate for guests. Outrageous. Unethical. I’m parking at the pay lot(not affiliated with the hotel) adjacent to the hotel for my last night, and this will be the last time I ever stay at this property. The room was quite nice.(I’m a Marriot Gold member.)

Extremely clean hotel room and polite staff! Valet parking for the day is cheaper than most parking around. Great service and amenities for the price. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Recently opened Marriott that is located by USS Midway. Staff is friendly and this will easily be a 5 star hotel. Great views and the rooftop pool is a plus.
