We really enjoy this place. The tacos are really good, and they are generous with portion. Price is great also

I just had a shrimp burrito and have to say one of the best I’ve had in a while! !! The cook definitely knows what he’s doing. A++++

They have a salsa bar with three sauces, the green is really tastey. The lettuce they used on my enchiladas was very fresh and crisp, and they were generous with their cotija cheese. I didn’t really care for the chips or the hot salsa.

I have ate here multiple times and the food was always amazing. Today I came in to get a California burrito with no sour cream. I get back to my hotel and after 3 bites I can only taste French fries and tortilla. I will not be returning ever again u

Pros: Average tasting food, convenient lunch near campus Cons: Horrible customer service experience on 3 separate occasions, the cashier made me wait more than necessary, saw me waiting and went to do something else, started talking on the phone when I was the last one in line, put in the wrong order for shredded chicken when I ordered pollo asada. I let the next cashier know, and he just laughed about it and made fun the situation. Felt so disrespected as customer here.

Easily the best chicken California burrito I’ve ever had! Eaten here twice, had the chicken California burrito both times. Just wish it was closer to home!

After returning from traveling to Boston, San Antonio and Denver, I needed to have some real mexican food. I could not stand the Mexican food in these other cities. So I went to the Roberto’s in Mission Valley… and I don’t know if it’s because I was away for awhile from San Diego’s mexican food joints, but this California burrito was great!!! I miss, miss, miss, these taco shops. SD peeps, don’t ever take your taco shops for granted. My hometown may have a better football team, but San Diego’s got the food and culture. I hope every Roberto’s locations make their california burrito the same. Delicious.

Amazing food! My favorites are the carne asada fries s d the beef rolled tacos. The staff is super friendly and you never have to wait long! The food is absolutely delicious! In San Diego there are so many Mexican food places to choose from but Roberto’s Taco Shop is definitely one of the best!

Insanely long wait time between ordering and getting your food. Today, it literally took 17 minutes for them to fry up 5 rolled tacos. It wasn’t even that busy either. The food is decent, but the shitty service and skimpy salsa bar kill this place for me. I guess that’s what I should expect at a taco shop in Mission Valley.

I love this place and would have given it 5 stars if not for their refried beans — they’ve got too much lard in them or something and the flavour suffers. That being said, I love their carne asada, It’s flavourful and consistently amazing. They use real cheese on everything, not«nacho cheese», which is a plus(unless you dig nacho cheese.) The portions are great and it’s always quick service.

I’ve worked across the street for a year and today was my first time at Roberto’s. Pretty dang good. I ordered the California burrito with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. I would definitely order it again. Crispy fries, quality-well cooked carne asada, cheese and sour cream, in a warm(not soggy) tortilla. Hit the spot. Not greasy. Add a little salsa verde on top. Hard to beat for $ 6. Muy delicioso.

Food is delicious here but staff was very rude. I had a issue with a To go order and the persons in the cashier and mostly cook treat me like if I was trying to get free food and where very rude. At the end had to paid for more food because they mess up my order.

This taco shop located in the Food 4 Less shopping center seems to be a franchise of the original Roberto’s taco shop. While I’m sure most native San Diego people like myself have visited over a gazillion different –bertos shops in their lifetime, Roberto’s will always stand out as the OG one. Although this Mission Valley location is not the original, they still serve some great grub here. They have a conservative menu that has all your San Diego favorite greasy Mexican fastfood. The first thing I noticed when stepping into this place was how amazingly clean it was for a taco shop( ). The dining area was a pretty good size and they had a nice clean looking salsa bar( ). They offered two red sauces and one green. The darker red of course being way spicy and then the medium chunky salsa. Green sauces are usually never my favorite, but the one here wasn’t too bad. I couldn’t get enough of that spicy stuff though, it added great heat to the food. The prices here aren’t bad at all, $ 6 will get you a good sized burrito but there are no substitutions at all. The Bacon, Egg & Cheese burrito for $ 4.50 was a damn good deal. I had them add some beans and hash browns though, you can’t have a breakfast burrito without them. The burrito was of average size( ), nothing too crazy big. The first I noticed though when opening it up was the quality of flour tortillas they use here, they looked fresh. Its also nice when the cook throws it on the grill for a bit to give it a crispy texture. Inside the burrito was great ratio of bacon to eggs. The bacon was on the crispy side which is the way it should be and the scrambled eggs were cooked good as well. The disappointing thing was the lack of hash browns that I paid extra for, I don’t know why they added so little. Other than that, a solid good breakfast burrito and for CHEAP. As for rolled tacos here, they only come in beef & potato in orders of 3 or 5. Three rolled tacos with everything(guac, sour cream, lettuce, cheese and cotija) will run you $ 5. The tacos( ) were definitely on the smaller side compared to most places. However there was lots of shredded beef inside though which made up for it. The tacos were still very crispy even after the drive home. They also added plenty of toppings on top, which made them that much better. Their basic soft tacos were very messy to eat. The pollo & carne asada tacos( ) came with one single corn tortilla, meat, spot of guac and pico de gallo. The corn tortillas used here are way too thin to hold the amount of meat they stack into them. Although the meat itself was perfectly cooked and seasoned, it kinda fell out all over the place when attempting to it. They need better corn tortillas here. The guacamole here appeared very runny and tasted kinda creamy but still had good flavor. This Mission Valley location of Roberto’s did a fine job at making some taco shop food for me. All the ingredients tasted fresh, the flour tortillas were great and the meat is pretty solid here. The service was also a plus because the cashier guy really knew the menu through, was polite and food came out reasonably fast. Even though this place is pretty basic with their menu, they make SD Mexican food pretty darn well and for really good prices. There’s plenty of parking here even though they share a lot and they take credit cards no problem. This taco shop however closes early every day at around 9pm, so no late night runs.

What keeps me coming back? Fast, convenient, and easy parking. I just can’t get enough California burritos. I love the tortillas and that spicy green sauce. Anytime I have visitors, I usually end up taking them here at least once. There’s something to please everyone — so many delicious options for any time of the day for a satisfying meal or snack. Did I mention the burritos make great road trip food? Yea, these are a must for when I make the trek to Disneyland. It is also super convenient to call in an order in advance on your way home from work so it will be ready for you to take home. Why take home this hot and fresh meal instead of devouring it on the spot? So I can pair it with a beer, duh! Cheers!

Tried a breakfast burrito. It was good but lacking flavor. The cheese wasn’t melted in one so we asked them to fix it which they did with no problem. The tortilla was really good. Liked the Asada one more than the hash brown one. Good customer service.

I have always loved Roberto’s. We started going to Roberto’s when we lived in Las Vegas many years ago. Anyway, Roberto’s never fails me, no matter the location. My favorites are, in no particular order, Cheese & Sour Cream Quesadilla, Carne Asada Burrito, Carne Asada Fries, California Burrito, Beef or Chicken Tacos, and the Potato Rolled Tacos. I always stick to those choices, but I should branch out more. Even though I’ve eaten Mexican food for years, I still have trouble ordering. I have learned that you say, «No guacamole» instead of my tendency to explain it the opposite way, saying everything I DO want. Whyyyy oh why was I not listening during my Spanish classes? Probably flirting with the boys too much. :/ The guys who work there are always super nice, and there’s one at this one particular location who is really hotttt. We smile at each other. A lot. LOL Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve been wanting good Mexican food and the best authentic Mexican shop I have been to is Roberto’s. I have been to two locations and I like this one best. They have combination plates, special plates, breakfast burritos, tacos, tostadas, rolled tacos, tortas, burritos, Quesadillas, enchiladas, side orders, drinks, chips and fries. I got the 5 Potato Rolled Tacos It was absolutely the best thing I’ve had from Roberto’s. The tacos were really crunchy which is how I like them. The Salsa Verde had a nice spicy taste. It hit just the back of my throat and after eating the dish I could feel my lips tingling a little bit. The lettuce and sour cream was a great combination and held up well against the crispy texture of the tacos. When we got home I devoured my tacos. I was really happy with mine and ours stayed nice and piping hot. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my box and thought this is going to be perfect and it absolutely was.

This place has some tasty food, been coming here with my boyfriend for a couple years now. Salsa bar doesn’t have too many choices, but reguardless, all all good. Drink station is in front of the counter– refills! My favorite thing to order is the California burrito. It’s very yummy. But lately the lack of meat in the burrito hasn’t satisfied me. Literally 80% of the burrito is fries and 20% is meat. Kind of disappointing after spending 6 $ for a tortilla filled with fries. I guess next time I’ll specify about the lack of meat. It’s good place to eat, parking is awesome. Just please put a little more meat in your Cali burritos!

I had been wanting to try Roberto’s for awhile since it seems to be a pretty big deal in San Diego, but I wasn’t really blown away. The location is great, easy parking, clean restaurant, nice service. Typical Mexican food menu, I had the asada taco and while it was ok, it was nothing special. Good salsa bar always helps though. I’ll be back to try something different next time, the asada is a pass.
