Just came here got an order to go of gourmet steak tacos with the sauces on the side and chips and rice. I didn’t check the order till I got home. And very upset that i did not check my order when i was there. there is no Chipotle white sauce or roasted salsa like I asked for on the side. They gave me chicken not steak!!! And on top of that beans not rice and no meat at all also the chesse seemed like it was extremely dry very upset will never come to this location again everything in my order was wrong very upset about this. and the worst tasting rubios I have ever had Like come on 3+ mistakes on one order that’s horrible service!!!

This location offers all the great fare that you would expect at a Rubio’s. There’s a couple upsides and downsides— first of all, it’s located in the food court. So that means you generally have to find a table in the(fairly large) food court seating area and then stay within earshot to hear your name called when your order is ready. And here, if you want a beverage refill, you need to go to the counter and request your cup be refilled instead of doing it yourself. The upside– UTC is a more glamorous mall, so it has a more– upscale–(does glamorous really apply to a food court?) with very nice restrooms and lounge and you’ve got the view of the ice rink. Depending on when you go– you might see young competitors doing skating routines or maybe catch a hockey game. Rubio’s is consistently one of my favorite casual– go-to places to eat and this fits the bill!

Always fresh shrimp and perfect avocado slices! They have a salsa bar with the best hands down salsas ever! I love the side beans and chips. The flour tortillas are amazing!

Like many of my friends I liked the old rubios a bit more. The food is still good and actually has some nice touches vs. The old recipes. Fresh sliced avocados are a nice touch, but fresh guacamole is better when it it made correctly. I think the salsa bar needs an update.

This place has the most amazing burritos ever! Very consistent quality too. And somehow, better than any other rubio’s I’ve been to.

Rubio’s is the only fast food chain that gets it consistently correct every time I go no matter the location. The food is always fresh and the quality is high. I really enjoy their fish tacos. The consistency of the fish and the tang of the sauce makes for a great treat. The prices are good, the service is quick and friendly. If you haven’t had a fish taco in your life, this is the chain to get them from. As for this particular location, it’s convenient because it’s in the center part of the UTC mall in the food court which means you will always be able to get a seat either inside or outside.

Normally I like Rubio’s. Unfortunately, our food sat under the heat lamps for a very long time while the one server on hand was only paying attention to the next customer. No process between the kitchen and server. I will avoid coming to this Rubio’s in the future. Many other choices with better customer service at UTC.

2 stars because the food is always cold. I come here because it’s convenient and I work close by. I’ve ordered here 6 times and my steak burrito is always cold and has old meat in it. I think I’ve gave them too many chances. The avocado was old and tasted rotten and the burrito was very dry. I had to use lots of salsa and lemon to put it in the burrito. They have a good salsa bar and customer service here is alright. They definitely do greet you with a smile. But like i said the food is just old and also it seems like they shrunk the burritos. It’s very small and you pay $ 8 for it. I will rather drive down the road to a taco shop and get fresh good authentic Mexican food.

Cold fish taco’s are such a bummer when you know how good they could be. Was an I crowded day & we waited a while. Totally tasted like they say around a while. So bummed

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way The time is gone, the song is over, thought I’d something more to say Time — Pink Floyd UTC food court. I biked here from Mira Mesa once when I was in high school. I still remember how my lungs were burning and my legs were rubbery. It was a tough ride. Rubios was here back then. Time has moved on and the whole mall has been remodeled into one of the nicest malls and food courts in town. The Mongolian bbq where I could stack a plate to to overflowing is gone. There are better food choices now like Eureka Burger. I’m back at Rubios for my free birthday month meal. I ordered the 2 taco plate. Crunchy chips. Funky flavor from the oil I don’t like. 2 gourmet beef tacos with bacon. Beef is too spicy for my taste. Can’t taste the bacon. Don’t like the lettuce the use. Perhaps I’ll give them another try next year when it’s time for my birthday meal.

When I come in I always get good customer service but Sherine is the best. I haven’t been in a while but she remembered my name my usual order and my drink. She is a terrific employee. If the manager or owner reads this — you have a very valuable asset there.

I would give them a zero. I ordered the orange chipotle salad to go, if you have seen the picture, it looks delicious, but when I opened at home, surprise! NOAVOCADOS, NOCORN, NOBEANS. Only the salad and the fish. False advertising or employee fault? In any case, this salad was not what they say it was and a little pricey talking in consideration they don’t put any of the ingredients they advertise they do. This review was for the one in the Whole Foods mall, not the one inside the mall.

Really Under-appreciated Burritos I’d Order Shrimp My go to place inside the UTC food court. Less salty and faster to chow down and get back to my shopping or ice skating than the other shops inside(i.e thai, panda express, sushi, and Indian food). The panini grill would also be a quick option, but seriously too healthy for me. My absolutely favorite item to order is the Shrimp Burrito. There’s this spicy mayo ranch dressing inside that makes the shrimp all moist and juicy. There are not too many onions. Add salsa on top to cool things down a bit and every bite is like a fiesta in your mouth. For a burrito it’s usually hard to distinguish seasoning since everything is all rolled up and drowning in guac, but this yummy thing has so much flavor! The rice is tomato-y and chewy but not soggy and mushy. The shrimp is sweet and really huge. Some cheese melting inside and fries would make this«to die for» but it’s already SUPER delicious! Oh, and free chips!

Located in the newly upgraded UTC Mall Food Court, this Rubio’s stood the test of time and remained in the exact same location as it was before. When all the other junk foods within the mall are too much for me, I go to my «Health Mex Chicken Burrito». It’s only 500 calories and it’s filling enough. It has a wheat tortilla, rice, black beans, and grilled chicken with some salsa fresca. This is probably the most filling item you can get in the mall for a reported 500 calories(off of Rubio’s nutrition chart). You can also get the«Health Mex Mahi Mahi Burriot» for 530 calories. I know… Calories Shamalories… I go through my phases of being«good» on my diet and this is the best of the worst for fast food for me. Service is quick and attentive… often times with two people at the cash registers. Seating is in the general seating area of the food court. I like the dark red hot salsa, as well as the roasted chipotle salsa.

GREATSALAD for the healthy peeps! Believe it or not, when I don’t know what to eat for lunch, I always get the Chipotle Ranch Chicken Salad without the dressing. I drizzle lemon or lime juice over the salad instead. It comes with fresh salsa, tortilla strips, grilled chicken, and guacamole over a bed of spinach and greens. I’ve never been a big fan of fish tacos or anything with tortilla, just don’t like how it tastes(it’s not an image issue, I promise. I love noodles). I’m also pretty health conscious so I don’t like anything too creamy, ahem ranch. But I digress, the salad is pretty tasty by itself. I got sick of going to Whole Foods all the time, if you’re hoping to switch it up, this would be a great option!

We stopped at rubio’s to get my husband and the boy bean burritos and a kids meal. My husband is a big eater, and would have liked a larger burrito. The kids meal was a good value. Four dollars and some change got the kid more than enough food to eat. They also have expanded their beer selection. You can now get two flavors of Stone Brew! I ate here last time we came to UTC, and we will likely eat here next time. Love the salsa and beer!

Rubbish! Had fish tacos today and I swear they must’ve had fried fish from earlier in the afternoon, thrown back into the fryer hours later and then served. Hot sauce won’t disguise a lazy effort. Maybe I’m wrong and that it was old or something. LOL At least the server was very nice about it. I give her credit though.

Grilled grande bowl or chicken burrito especial are my usual lunch entrees here. The food is like any other Rubio’s; pretty good flavor and value. The line can be long, if you’re there during the lunch hour, but ordering at the register is quick and wait time for your food isn’t that long(the receipt they give you when you get your food actually will tell you how long it took to get your food). They do phone orders and have a check-in deal as well.

After swinging by the Apple store to grab a new power adapter, my friend and I decided to grab lunch in the food court before heading out. This must be a Left Coast chain(I’ve never seen any back east), but they do a decent burrito. I’d put it more in the vein of something similar to Baja Fresh — less of the Chipotle-style ingredients(particularly loads of cheese and/or sour cream), but more saltiness and focus on herbs as the main flavoring. I got the salmon burrito, which was okay(but could have used more salmon). The rice was typical, and I added salsa from the side bar that had the different kinds. The main problem with Rubio’s is that there’s just not enough flavoring to carry the whole dish. Oftentimes, I felt like I was eating a rice burrito — and that’s not a good sign. Aside from that, there’s not much else to add; the service is pretty standard of typical fast-food fare. If there’s a Chipotle around, I’d probably go with that unless you’re looking for something healthier, which fish burritos will most definitely be.

You might be surprised that I would give Rubios 3 stars. I happen to think this is still not cheap and the selection is definitely tacos for the masses. Every time I go to UTC food court, I often visit Sizzling Eggrolls for a little comfort food. This food court has several options including Genghis Khan, Subway, Sbarro etc. I do think the Asian fast food is dominant but I decided after all these years I would try the Rubios. I am not a virgin to Rubio’s and i have had it on many occassions. I would like to say I was trying to be cheap and found their menu the cheapest of all the other choices. I could have 1 taco and some chips without a drink for about 3 bucks(of course this would be very minimal). So after looking over the menu, I decided on the Street tacos, they have it in 3 versions, steak, chicken or pork. I chose all three. I knew they were going to be small but for my hunger and taste, they were the perfect size. Like most salsa/mexican places, there is the obligatory salsa bar but in this case only 4 sauces and the rest are lemons/limes, diced onions and cilantro, hot peppers and pickled peppers. Compared to other places, I guess this is plentiful. The order came quick and it came with a small amt of chips as expected(so so) and a hot bean concoction. Now let me explain my 3 star review, I actually enjoyed each of the street taco. I cut up the jalapenos and added some hot salsa and the size of the taco only needed 2 – 3 bites. Perfect for a lunch at my desk area without creating a mess. I don’t know if I would return to this Rubio’s or any other but I know what I will order next time, Street tacos — hold the beans and the chips.
