This place took 50 minutes to bring the starter which was the Sun dried tomato flat bread. When ordering starters usually they arrive before the entrée. I decided to think maybe the wait was worth it and was I disappointed… The Sun dried tomato flat bread tasted Chalky and tasted like expired dough. The New York Style pizza which was the main Entrée and was just as horrible. This pizza was far from being New York style. Not only was the pizza cold but when biting into it all the pepperonis fell off with the cheese lag.

Not a fan. I know Sammy’s is a chain but I was really hoping for it to be better. Empty inside which should have been a sign. Service was ok, nothing special, did her job which you could tell she did not love. Apps are grossly overpriced, small portions and generic in flavor. Small salads tiny, large one a much better value, but again very generic. Pizza would be the highlight here, crust was pretty good, the small a good size for one person. Restaurant is a bit run down and did not seem the cleanest, could use a bit of a remodel. Not worth returning, if you do come here avoid anything other than the pizza.

I came here with my family, who are diverse eaters, and we all managed to have a decent meal. I ordered the curried roasted cauliflower without the aioli, and we all shared the hummus. It was good! I’m pretty sure if I was hungrier, I could have managed to order a vegan meal. Our waiter wasn’t well versed in what was vegan or not, but he was willing to find out for me and that’s pretty great. They have lots of mediterranean small plates, so there seemed to be options. Service took forever. We waited a long time for our food, too long, and I wasn’t even that hungry. I wouldn’t seek out to eat here again, but I’m happy that my low-carb dad and vegan me could enjoy a decent lunch together.

I was about to return to Sammy’s, a restaurant where I was a regular going 2 – 3 times per week, but was outraged at how they raised up prices. My salad went up 26% before tax and tip($ 12.5 to 15.75). Such an increase is unjustifiable at least from the raw materials, labor and rent standpoint. Needless to say, I won’t be coming back any time soon.

We came here on Saturday for dinner. Came early around 7, ordered garlic chicken wheat pizza and chicken fettuccine pasta. Both dishes came like in 15min. Service was good and fast. Liked the food as well. Little bit on salty side but good taste.

My family and I are regular patrons of Sammys but unfortunately not sure for how much longer. The restaurant is sliding downhill. We were seated at a table with the lightbulb burnt out above us and had to use our flashlights on our phone to even read the menu. The cushion on the seat had been worn away that there was a hole in the seat. The bread comes with crackers which was so spicy we could not even eat it. My daughter ordered a tomato Angel Hair pasta dish which was also way too spicy for such a plain dish. I ordered a beef dish that was so hot it was almost inedible but the potatoes it came with were not even cooked. The restrooms were filthy and water pooled up on floor. The attendant who was in the restroom at the time took no notice of the water on the floor, just emptied trash and left. Seems that Sammys has turned the spice up on ALL dishes. Service was slow on a quiet night. Sorry Sammys I think we will pass on you next time we want a quick light meal and go to one of the many other restaurants nearby.

Always good food. They offer a lot on their menu. Expect a wait on weekends and dinner time as this is a popular place for families(no matter which location you go to). I’m not sure if they take reservations though.

This used to be one of my favorite happy hours. Now its a completely fake happy hour menu, they reduced all the portions and jacked up the prices. Took off some of the best items, lobster mac and cheese, and lettuce wraps. What a scam, feel bad for the wait staff because their happy hour attendance is going to plummet.

According to the manager, Sammy’s doesn’t currently«partner» with E24H !!! Really — and this listing is there why: Either , or Sammy’s have some very funny business practices!

Ordered online for a New York Style pizza. It would be ready in 30 minutes, which is fine. I went to go pick it up a little early but I had no problem waiting. I was ready right on time so I headed home. This is where I became extremely disappointed with basically everything. $ 14 for a pizza is a reasonable price for any special pizza. What I received was far less than what I expected. The description says salami, pepperoni, mushroom which sounds fantastic! 3 pieces of salami, a few slices of pepperoni, and a few chopped mushrooms for the entire pizza was embarrassing. I could order the same at Pizza Hut and receive more. I’m sure many will say okay yeah you’ll get more, but the quality isn’t as good. That is why I took a bite anyways only to discover that yes again I was disappointed by the flavor. Maybe I set my expectations too high? I would honestly rather get Pizza Hut than come back here. That was my initial reaction yesterday and so I didn’t write a review immediately so I could be honest and not express only emotion but actually think about what to say. I still stand by that statement.

Prelims: hidden behind the outdoor patio, this restaurant has a surprisingly nice décor, albeit in a cramped space on the interior vs. the outdoor patio enclosed by the white plastic covering. Atmosphere isn’t too dreary though, with plenty of spacing between you and your next door neighbor and a nice good TV if you’re into watching sports. The service was very accommodating; while they were the quickest, we had 30 people crammed into the space, so them getting a ways around taking orders, bringing waters, etc., was going to take a while. Plus they constantly refilled the baguettes and chips. Parking is a bear on the top level; do yourself a favor and head downstairs into the garage and find a huge space underground with plenty of spaces near the escalator that take you up to the front door — wut?! I ordered the garlic shrimp pizza. It was very average — the shrimp were small, it wasn’t very garlicky(although I think my wife would probably think that’s a plus), and the cheese was so oily that it soaked through the crust. The crust itself wasn’t that thick so if the toppings weren’t so heavy, it would have served as a nice contrast, but given the weight of the cheese on top(because there wasn’t much else besides scattered onions, shrimps, and bell peppers), the crust snapped in multiple places, succumbing me to using a fork on finger food. My friends ordered a variety of other things though; the closest ones that I got to sample were the dumplings(which were quite nice — very crispy and flavorful with a nice sauce that wasn’t overpowering) and the angel hair pasta(which was pretty saucy but not overpoweringly so. It had a nice balance, and good flavor that extended throughout the entire dish). Overall, I think if I ordered another dish, maybe I would have enjoyed it more. I was eyeing the Wagyu Cheeseburger and there is definite regret about not getting it; although this place is called Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza(I’ve said Woodfried now, thanks to the wife –_-), I think you’d be better off not getting the pizzas and hitting the other things on the menu. TL;DR Pizza’s best food isn’t pizza — it’s pasta.

I came here for lunch with a girlfriend. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to a Sammy’s. They had a lunch menu which was basically $ 10 meal with your choice of 2 of 3 of soup, salad or pizza. I got the Arugula and Fig salad and chose the Butternut Squash soup. The food was good. The Butternut Squash Soup was a little watery than what I am used to. I am used to it being thick and hearty, but nonetheless was appetizing. I tried some of my friend’s individual sized pepperoni pizza. It was thin crust and your basic pizza. Waitress forgot to bring me my water but she was super apologetic about it. We sat in the patio and they have roll up window flaps. It was warm for the Fall season so it was really hot in there. The waitress pulled up the window flaps to get some air in there. It was a good budget meal for the area.

Sammy’s is a solid casual dining establishment! One of the only restaurants where everyone in my family can find something they like! The servers are polite and cheery and the ambiance is modern and comfortable with tables, booths, indoor and outdoor covered patio seating. Menu: pizzas, pastas, soups, salads, diverse appetizers and shared plates. This isn’t red sauce Italian, but rather California casual that happens to serve pizza and pasta. Particular menu standouts: chopped chicken salad(I almost always get this), New York pizza, Kobe beef chili, and of course the messy sundae dessert. Food is constantly good.

Came by this location on a Monday at 11:30 am and I was the 2nd customer. By the time my friend and I left, this place was packed! Make sure you come early. They have a great $ 10 lunch special where you can order 2 of 3 items: soup, salad and/or pizza. I had the Organic Kale & Romaine Caesar salad and pepperoni pizza that day. My only complaint is that they were a bit stingy on the toppings. The Organic Kale & Romaine Caesar salad was refreshing and had had shaved Romano cheese, a handful or garlic croutons and dressing. The pepperoni pizza was cooked with bell peppers, house-made tomato sauce. It was a bit too greasy but then again, it’s pizza so a little napkin dab helped with that. I had a happy plate and service was provided by Kaitlin, who was very accommodating. Good place and decent prices for lunch!

I waited 20 minutes for the wagyu burger and tomato bisque. The hostess staff was great, but the server seemed disconnected. The burger was literally dropped on our table and the server walked off. It was immediately apparent the lettuce was wilted and brown. Nothing served to us appeared appetizing at all. I had to leave without even taking a bite of my food. It’s disappointing because the Sammy’s in Mission Valley is great. Pro tip: avoid Sammy’s UTC and go to Draft Republic.

We came here on Sunday afternoon after church, our friend had suggested this location. I decided ordering some water accompanied with the 2 for $ 10 lunch daily. The only thing clean were hopefully the played the foods was on. From the glasses to the carafe they served my water from was dirty. Pizza was subpar. I did not cate for the Butternut squash soup, i have had better. The description stated apple and Ginger, however the taste of the soup was too watery. This location was small and slsi had covered patio. There are space heaters forthecolletdausandnights. The bathroom was clean for the women. Staff was good with their customer service.

This Sammy’s Location is a little on the smaller size(space wise) so if you’re someone who enjoys indoor full booth seating — be sure to not come during busy business hours! Otherwise there are plenty of tables and outdoor seating! My boyfriend and I probably visit this location about 2 – 3 times a month! The food and service is wonderful! Never had we experienced any problems except on one occasion where we were seated outdoors and there was a line of ants crawling…(Oh I hate ants!) What are some of our(bf+I) favorites? Tapas: Crab & Shrimp Dip, Garlic Cheese Bread Salads: The Original Chopped Chicken, Chinese Chicken Pizzas: New York Style, Five Cheese, Royal Hawaiian Specialties: Flat Iron Steak, Oak Roasted Salmon Filet Be sure to join the eClub to get inside scoop/deals. Like right now there is a $ 10 Power Lunch Promotion — Choose 2 items from a list of Soups, Salads and Pizzas from 11am-2pm daily.

Someone needs to train their cook how to cook a steak! ;-( I ordered the flatiron steak medium-rare, and the first time it came out medium-well, with absolutely no pink in the middle. I sent it back. The second time, I cut it open with the waiter there, and one side had no pink, and the other, the slightest hint of pink. He seemed to think that was medium-rare. I sent it back. The third time, the manager came back with another steak, and said that to make sure I would like it, he told the cook to cook it just a couple of minutes on each side. It was still RAW(I don’t mean rare) in the middle. I had him take it back, and it came back rare, and I can eat rare, so I ate it. Nicely seasoned, but, really? I waited over 45 minutes to finally get a steak I could happily eat! I guess I should just know, from now on, to order it rare at anything other than fine dining restaurants — others almost always overcook it. The veggies on the plate were good, and I liked that they served roasted potatoes. My two friends enjoyed their meals so, on faith, I give Sammy’s three stars — I know — they are a pizza place, so what do I expect? Luckily, we were in no hurry, and enjoyed the evening on their very pleasant outdoor patio talking. This place in in the Costa Verde Shopping Center, near the north end, in case you’re looking for it. Outdoor, underground, and valet parking in the evenings.

Better service than the Scripps Ranch location, for sure. The mini donuts seemed«not so fresh» and that was really what my belly wanted. Carb up for a big race, right? Ordered an oriental chicken salad minus the chicken. Yep… you know how I do. Ate only half of the salad… it was a huge portion.

As everyone with eyes and/or tastebuds should be aware, build-your-own pizza is kind of a fad right now. Sammy’s is not part of that fad. It’s not fast enough. Nor does it offer the variety of toppings. But, it can be just as greasy as some of the lower-end of the new guys. So even though it has obviously set itself up as a competitor for California Pizza Kitchen, it’s abject failure is less substantial when only compared against pizzas that only take five minutes to cook. To be more specific, my sausage pizza was greasy, floppy, and pretty lacking in flavor. At least they didn’t burn it… unlike what I just did to them. To be fair, I’ve had better pizzas here, but they’ve never been great enough to look past this particular experience. Summary: Sammy, you’re(wood-)fired.
