Every time I come here I only order one thing: pepperoni pizza on wheat crust. One of my favorite places to have pizza. There may be many naysayers if you suggest this place to some of your crew. Cast away their opinions, and come here. My best friend’s wife HATES when I suggest this place, but I put forth my opinion anyway, always to no avail(Ponce’s, sigh). I remember when this place had dividers all over the place and was more family oriented. I kind of miss that layout. Now it is more of a bar layout, all open. Not too much of a fan of the new layout but nonetheless the pizza is still good. The beer selection is also superb. I usually order something super dark with my pizza.

Came here on New Year’s Day to grab a bite and some brews with my fiancé. It has the typical sports bar feel to it upon entering. My fiancé and I enjoy visiting breweries and based on their awards and reputation, we wanted our 120th brewery to be a good one so we chose San Diego Brewing Company. I had the IPA and my fiancé had the Infinitude. Both enjoyable, both hoppy and both worth another round… We had plans later on in evening for dinner, so we opted to share an appetizer to hold us down for a bit. We ordered the bacon tater tots and loved it! Huge is an understatement when describing the portion. It was large enough to fill us both up and there were still about 10 tots untouched. We asked for the bleu cheese on the side since I’m not a fan, but my fiancé is. The tots came out perfect… crispy and not soggy from too much balsamic vinegar. The drizzle was perfect and not too overpowering like I’ve had at other places. At $ 10.00, this generous size is a steal! Definitely a must have next time(and prob all other times) we visit… Knocking off a star because of the service. It wasn’t busy at all, yet the service was kinda slow. None of the workers looked happy to be there. It may have been cause it was New Year’s Day, but hopefully they are normally more pleasant… Regardless, we’ll be back for the beer and tots. Cheers

Sundays is the only day they serve breakfast here so that’s the day I saddled myself up to the bar ad ordered the Spanish Frittata, which till this day I am still wondering why they call it that, because the«Spanish» ingredients were limited or next to non. It should be called the Bacon, Potatoes, and Cheddar with some Veggies Frittata. Anyways, at $ 11 you get a pretty good size portion of food, including toast which I went for rye. Speaking of the toast, for some strange reason, I received the toast 10 minutes before my frittata arrived, so unfortunately the toast went cold by the time my breakfast arrived. In addition, it was barely toasted, so when the real food arrived, I asked my served to put it in the toaster oven a bit and that did the trick. The frittata was good, however it was interesting on how they prepared it. They cooked the frittata with the eggs, potatoes, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes inside the frittata, but then sprinkled chopped bacon a top. I was not upset about it, but it was interesting. The bacon was abundant and crispy for the most part, except for a few stragglers that were a little under done, but I was good with that. The potatoes and mushrooms were tender and the tomatoes fresh. Green onions or scallions would of been a better option not only for the added color, but their unique flavor as well. They put a good amount of cheddar cheese which was very well melted. One thing the frittata needed however was seasoning. Except for the salt already included in the bacon curing, the frittata did not have any seasoning at all, so I had to take care of it on my own. Also, to give it that«Spanish» appeal, a nice zesty sauce served on the side with the sour cream would be good, and perhaps some Mediterranean peppers or cheese. Service at the bar was good. It was semi attentive, but friendly. I’m still trying to figure out what happen to the toast, but I am glad it was able to rectified rather quickly. Good rye toast, bye the way.

Okay, so I know we’re in the middle of a drought, and I understand that many restaurants are not bringing out water unless you request. I appreciate the general effort to make us more conscious about our water use. But if people ask for water, they really should get water. We came in with a big crowd who had just finished a hard workout and everyone was feeling dehydrated. Asked for water for everyone and the server argued about it. Explained that yes, we really do all want water, and got water… for most people. Asked for some more waters, asked for refills… in the end some people ended up having to share. Argh! The food was fine. Their specialty beer battered fries weren’t exciting in any way. The guacamole was a little bland, and so was the hummus. There were a couple of fun burger options, and I appreciate that there was a veggie burger option and some gluten-free possibilities. I’m not a beer drinker, so perhaps I’m just missing the main feature. They do have kombucha on tap, which sounds exciting, but they were out. Oh well. Maybe they were running out of water too…
