We were making an in-town move and were looking for a moving company the week of the move. Five days before the move date, I called to find out if they had any availability. I explained that we were hoping to hire some movers for the upcoming Saturday. The Saturday just happened to be near the end of July — apparently when just about everyone is moving. As such, not surprisingly, I was told that the Saturday was booked solid for several weeks now. Being hopeful, I asked them to check and see if they had any availability, no matter how early. If none was available, I inquired whether I could be put on a wait list, in case someone cancelled their move. The guy checked again and, to my great surprise, said that they actually could fit me in. Apparently they had a cancellation that morning for Saturday early morning, but it was not entered into the system yet. Excellent! Saturday morning arrived. The movers were supposed to get to our place between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. Apparently they had some trouble finding the place, so they only arrived at 8:00 a.m. — still within the indicated time. The two guys who arrived were super professional. They quickly accessed the amount of stuff we had and the best route from the apartment to the truck. Then, the wrapping and moving began. One mover worked quickly to wrap all of the items in cellophane, while the other moved the items to the truck. Employing excellent Tetris skills, they filled the truck and arranged all of our furniture such that everything stayed in place. Once at the new place, they quickly moved all the stuff from the truck into our new apartment, making sure everything went in the right room. Overall, it was a great moving experience and definitely worry free. The only drawback is that I thought it would take three hours, but it took five hours. However, that was more due to the amount of stuff we had, and not really the movers’ fault.
