San Diego Optometry

I’ve been a patient with San Diego Optometry for a couple of years now. I wrote a review when I first started coming here because I was so IMPRESSED and HAPPY with Dr. Esfandiari’s bedside manner and wisdom. I also felt very respected and happy with the whole team.
I was inspired to write another review when, just a short time ago, I was struck by a very bad and painful eye infection. I can do nothing less than rave about how well I was cared for by Dr. Esfandiari. He not only went out of his way to squeeze me in at least once a week at a convenient time for ME but he also made my treatment financially reasonable and more than fair. Another gesture that made me feel I was in the right hands was that Dr. Esfandiari consulted other eye specialists to make sure he was giving me the MOST optimum care that he could.
I more than recommend San Diego Optometry to anyone looking for an optometrist or for anyone that’s not 100% happy with whomever they currently seeing. I am so happy and feel quite lucky that I found them!!!

The optometrist was great, friendly, and helped me feel at ease, which was helpful because I HATE having my eyes examined. The gal helping me find frames was knowledgeable, friendly, and I appreciated that she was mindful of price ranges. I used the Groupon for this first visit, but I’ll surely return here for my next exam.

I’ve been with Dr. E for almost a year now and I’ve had to change my contacts due to my allergies. The office has been accommodating in changing my contacts and I am very happy with my new ones!

If you’re in the need for a new optometrist, look no further! The location is great and the office is really nice. Dr. Esfandiari and his staff are awesome! The exam was a breeze and even included this really cool look at the inside of my eyeball! The only difficult part was trying to narrow down which pair of glasses I wanted to get. They have a great selection to choose from! I’ll definitely be bringing the rest of my family in for their annual eye exam!

I had put off having an exam, etc. because of the bad experience I had a year or so back at another office. Dr. E was GREAT! He and his staff made my visit a real treat. He explained everything to me and he was super thorough. NICE guy. and he even plays poker like me! And. what was even cooler… my visit to Dr. E. cost about half of what my previous Dr. charged me! YAY!!!

The doctor and staff are great here! Everyone was so nice and the doctor explained everything he was doing during the exam and why. This made me feel very comfortable. I will definitely be back!

I went in last week to get new glasses, and wow, Dr. Keane was awesome! I showed up an hour early for my appointment (my car was serviced faster than I thought). The receptionist was out to lunch, but Dr. Keane took me an hour early (thanks for skipping your lunch for me)! I was in, out, and on my way in a little over half an hour. I will be recommending this optometrist to family/​friends.

Do NOT pay for the «anti-​glare» on your glasses. I paid for it and after I got my glasses back I knew something wasn’t right because I was getting MAJOR glare especially at night on the road, to the point where it is not safe to drive! When I came back in to pick up my contacts I told the woman at the front that I thought there had been a mistake because I was experiencing such a bad glare with the glasses. She tells me «well there will be little glare of course.»
Well I did not have just a «little» glare. I tried to explain my concerns and she just dismissed it.
To this day I am still unable to drive at night with my glasses. And the anti-​glare was over $ 80!
Do NOT waste your money! Go elsewhere!

Great place! I went in for my annual eye exam and it went amazing! I love the fit of my new contacts. I highly recommend this place! :)

Stopped here after loosing my sunglasses. My doctor Kelly Keane was so friendly and made my day! LOVING my new Ray Bans!

Dr. E was awesome. He was so nice, and after insurance didn’t cover my eyedrops for an eye infection, he gave me a sample he had in his office so that I could treat it.
He also called me a few days later to check up on the status of the infection to make sure it was getting better.
The people at the front desk are so knowledgeable about the glasses and frames, and helped me pick a good pair.
I also got an e-​birthday greeting via email from the office.
I’m very impressed by the service. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

Reasonably priced, quiet, easy parking, no high-​pressure sales AT ALL (i.e. «you should get this test or you might die within the next year! Are you sure? Are you sure? Ok…» etc… No «extras» are pushed). And as an added bonus, everyone there is just in a GOOD MOOD, if that makes sense.
Schedule an appointment, go and get that service – and only that service – unless you ask for more. Pay a reasonable price, smile, and go home. Or, stay and pepper them with questions and see if you can get them to break their smiles and positive mood for once. ;) I asked a bunch of extra questions at the end (about Lasik, about corneas, and I don’t even know what all else), and never felt rushed out or anything. So that’s nice.
Contact test was $ 109 all inclusive/​no insurance (well, the actual lenses are extra, of course). That’s very competitive and worth every penny.

I’m not really thrilled with this place and my Living Social ‘discount’ was kind of a joke. The doctor was great; he was very personable and professional. The selection of frames is way too small and I was going with a bifocal blend for the first time and nothing seemed to go right. The measurements were definitely off on the first try (likely my posture but she should have noticed while she was doing measurements). These were supposed to have three vision levels — one for reading, one for computer and one for driving/​distance. What a mess… I could read but I couldn’t see my computer at all — no matter how I moved my head or how close or far away I got I just could not find that ‘spot’ in the lens. For driving, I had to sit with my head down and my neck scrunched because the measurement was off. I took them back and they agreed to change to only reading and distance and I would just use my old readers for computer work. This did not work either. I was frustrated and just gave up and since I had the Living Social deal that I already paid $ 59 for I had to get something so I ended up paying well over $ 300 (in addition to Living social $ 59) for a pair of glasses (distance) that sit in my car and get used about once a month. I have NOOOO idea how a pair of single vision glasses could cost so much and I got some of the cheapest frames they had (this is my third time buying glasses and I’ve never paid more than $ 200 with my old eye doctor). So not worth it and I’m now using cheap readers as I’ve been doing for the past year. Also, the frames did not sit quite right on my face and the girl had to curve the ear pieces so they’re now nearly circles that I have to slide around my ears and it looks so stupid. Waste of about $ 400 and lesson learned. According to the Living Social deal– without the coupon I would have paid nearly $ 800 for an exam and a pair of single lens glasses with one of the cheapest frames.

Even though I wasn’t a client, they helped me in an emergency when I lost my contacts while on vacation. Classy and friendly! These guys deserve your business!

Ripped a contact and had none left right before I was about to leave for vacation. These optometrists are great… The eye doctor set aside an extra pair for me to take on vacation and helped me order more that will shipped to my home. So happy with the eye care service here time and time again.

I have been shopping around for eye doctors all day and found San Diego Optometry on Groupon. Called to book an appointment and Dr. Keane was the most helpful person that I have spoken to all day.
She simplified it all for me, gave me GREAT customer service, and made my day! The willing and able assistance was a breath of fresh air to the normal phone conversations I am use to.
Then, when I went in for my appointment, Dr. Esfandiari was fantastic. My appointment was from start to finish, amazing service. His knowledge and ability to communicate to me in a simple way was refreshing. I left having ordered an amazing pair of glasses and worked with a very helpful and intelligent staff.
Oh…and I live in Encinitas, way up North. I will no problem drive 40 minutes for this kind of service!

If you’re looking for a great eye doctor I highly recommend San Diego Optometry! Dr. E and Dr. Kelly are so friendly and very caring. The new office is in a good location, and next to Starbucks!

My children and I had our annual eye exam here. My youngest is five years old and oldest is seven years old.
Dr. E greeted us with a warm hello and he even apologized for the minor construction work that was going on right after we entered, which it didn’t bother me much since it was the front door and had nothing to do with our eye exam.
Right away in the beginning of the appointment, he put effort into making my kids feel comfortable. He involved them with each other’s exam and as well as mine. He asked them questions, taught them little facts, and made them laugh.
I really felt like I’ve been a long time customer with him being personable and his professional enthusiasm.
During the exams, he thoroughly explained what he was doing and why. He managed to juggle all three of us with patience, professionalism, and hospitality not as just patients but as if we were family.
The entire appointment went smoothly from the beginning to the end. I left feeling at ease and actually excited for our next appointment.

Had a checkup this morning with Dr. Kelly Keane. It has been over a decade since a checkup but I just wanted a clean bill of health. Nice clean office, great friendly staff. Checkup was efficient and had me on my way! 5 stars!

I had a great experience here. Ordered prescription frames and sunglasses. Staff is friendly and helpful. The frame selection here is ON FLEEK!
