Definetly not impressed. I got 2 rolls to take back to work with me, I am a mall employee. I walked back about 2 minutes and had to put it in our walk in cooler as the fish was room temperature, made me kind of uncertain about eating it. The first roll was good, I then started on the 2nd one and found a piece of plastic in the roll. Definitely not a good choice!

Mall food court sushi is okay to get your fix. Being that they’re part of Sarku, the chicken teriyaki is good. I got a decent amount of that in my lunch combo. The plate didn’t look like what I was expecting from the menu picture, but it’s a good, shareable portion. Among the various Westfield UTC food court choices, this is another option in the lunch rotation for the working stiffs nearby. Service was not cheerful, but effective, and I believe the California rolls are prepared in advance to speed up orders. There are probably better sushi options, but if you’re not concerned about ambiance or in a hurry and looking for convenient quality above truck stop sushi, then this place should be good enough. Just don’t expect much in terms of omakase or sake bombs.

Ordered the shrimp tempura roll. I have been ordering here several times and everything is always fresh and delicious. Healthier choice than some in the food court(depending on what you get of course). It’s a quick grab for grub. Definitely would go here for my post workout meal

I try not to give 1 Star reviews that often and, when I do, I limit it to places that are so god awful that it becomes comical. But, every once in a while I come across a spot that has much going against it, it truly ends up as a bad experience deserving of that single star(which is kinda sad). Especially when you consider that after both reading the reviews for Sarku and seeing it in person, I didn’t really have high expectations. And I was still disappointed. About the only nice thing I can say about the food here is that it looks very clean. It has a shine and brightness to it that almost borders on artificiality. That’s not a bad thing, it just means that it looks fresh and moist, that you may be in for a treat that was alive in the sea this morning and caught and cut right there for you. On the bad side we start with technique. The rolls are not made with any skill, meaning that they are falling apart just from being placed on the plate. I mentioned in another review that technique is not a huge thing, but it is very noticeable and serves as a hint of how much care goes into making their food. When you see a simple Tuna or Salmon Roll and it’s split open on one side, spilling out the contents, it just looks like a kid made it instead of a practiced chef. Next was the fish quality. I had Salmon Sashimi as part of my plate, one of my favorite things int he world to eat. It should be cool, warming on the tongue, and melt with a buttery and fatty flavor that dissolves into sweetness in your mouth. Here, the salmon is almost as cool as it should be, but it has that hint of fishy smell and taste to it, meaning it is closing in on going bad. Getting past that, you find that the moistness is still there, but the whole of it is kinda bland with none of that fatty goodness you’re looking for. Last up is the really disturbing fact that the rice on the sushi rolls is warm. This would normally be labeled under technique, but it is so heinous and ruins so much that it needs to be addressed on its own. I assume they just made a fresh pot for lunch and scoop it out when needed. But, it should be chilled and prepared properly. Raw fish is best cool to just north of cold, and when you roll it up in warm rice, it too begins to heat up and can quickly become unpalatable to downright disgusting. Would you want a piece of raw fish that tastes and feels like it had been left out on the counter for a few hours? So, yeah, mall sushi, poorly made with not the freshest of ingredients. You’re better off grabbing one of those sushi trays at your local grocery and enjoying it in the car on the way to work.

For being in the middle of a food court, I’d say, not bad! The quality and taste(and packaging even) of the sushi is that of what you’d expect from an Asian market grab-and-go section. So, it satisfied my sushi craving and enabled me to get in two mall shops all in my lunch hour! Can’t beat convenience! Pricing is about par with other food court vendors, there is a price for convenience! I can get out the door of a small sit down sushi restaurant with the same roll, tea, and seaweed salad for less money then what I paid here, and the quality would be just slightly better, but I wouldn’t be able to get in shopping on a lunch hour too!

A lot better than you would expect from mall sushi. My options were pretty endless in this food court. But being that I’m a sushi addict I couldn’t help myself. I had to roll the dice and see if it would pay off. And it did! I was incredibly surprised by the quality of the rice and the size of the rolls. at just 5 $ for Spicy Tuna Roll I ordered two hoping it would be enough to cure my sushi craving and growling stomach. I recommend this place if you’re in the mall and looking for some quick and easy sushi.

Freshly made decent quality sushi and not a bad deal at all when you get the special, a California Roll and Shrimp Tempura Roll combo for $ 8. Sushi is good for mall food and sure beats the nearby Panda Express. The wait time is usually only a few minutes, completely reasonable given that they make your roll(s) from scratch after you order. All the gourmet sushi chefs giving one and two star ratings to this little spot need to take their high expectations to a $ 60 sushi place and stop expecting to find that kind of value at the UTC mall food court for under $ 10.

OK, so I had an hour to kill while the Apple Store was replacing the hard drive on my Macbook Pro so I wandered over to the Food Court hoping for a resurrection of the Great Gyros. Alas, it was not to be. I was surveying my options when the sushi barker got my attention. The prices looked decent as in, «if this isn’t good, it won’t cost me too much» so I took a chance. As Paula D. said, the sushi was OK. I’d venture to say, it was slightly less than OK, but just slightly. That’s about all you can say. It’s not a place I would plan on visiting, and unless I’m really hankering hardcore for sushi at UTC, I won’t return.

It’s an acceptable place to get sushi if you are already on the mall. After all, there is no other sushi place around the mall(I don’t count BlueFin). The sushi is average, they have a bento box which I haven’t tried. Pricing is the same as you find in maybe a regular sushi place like EDO sushi a block away(Renaissance Center). Overall, if you are craving sushi while shopping with friends at the mall or hanging out, this will suffice. It is the food court and the idea is to get something quick and safe(no G-I problems later at work). So far, I have been okay with the sushi here.

Thinnest $ 1 sashimi ever… And the sushi rice wasn’t good, warm. Tiny tempura shrimp. The quality was acceptable overall, but not a great deal.

I should have read the reviews before I ate here. I go to sushi places almost on a weekly basis. The sushi is okay. The miso soup was acceptable. I think they should use a different kind of sushi rice.

I wasn’t expecting much as it was mall food. The sashimi is just ok, but the sushi is a different matter. My nigiri rice was WARM. Warm like someone did 5 secs on high in a microwave. Nigiri rice should NOTBETHATWARM. I may stop by again, but just for some cheap sashimi, not for any nigiri.

The sushi was OK. The lady in front of the place up-selling the food is not OK. I wanted a simple roll, the spousal unit wanted something that was 6.99. Her English was not great but she kept asking if we liked raw fish and if so we would have to have the 8.99 dish. The SU said a few times that he wanted the one roll and finally gave in because it seemed like she was not going to take his order until he gave in. It was like buying a car. I like sushi but would not go back there unless they stop that process.

This Sushi was fairly good and it was just a little expensive !! It is located inside the UTC Westfield Shopping Mall in the food court !!! it would be right across from Sarku Japan Grill at the other end of the food court. There would be one person standing on the corner of the place handing out samples also there would be one guy ringing you up. You can see you Sushi is made fresh because there are 6 guys working there and it is in the open !! I Like the Dragon Roll and the one and famous Califorina Roll !!! But overall it is ok and there is some places that I think is a little better but I will sure go back to eat there because there are free samples while you wait !!

The sushi kiosk in the Food Court is an offshoot of the Sarku Japan grill at the other end of the court. The kiosk is small and there were 6 guys working there. There was 1 guy handing out samples, 1 guy making rolls for samples, 1 guy manning the register, 1 guy writing down orders for the guy manning the register, 1 guy actually making sushi, and 1 guy watching him. Even with all those, you still have to wait for your order. They have 2 menus, one hanging over the kiosk, and one in front of the resister. Both have the combos numbered, but the numbers don’t match, so they had to ask every customer, «This number three, or that number three?» I got the sushi /sashimi combo for $ 8.99. I got 6 pieces of nigiri and 4 pieces of sashimi. The selection was not as interesting as the picture on their menu board. For the nigiri I got 2 salmons(sake), 1 tuna(maguro), 2 shrimp(ebi), and 1 octopus(tako). The sashimi was 1 salmon(sake), 1 tuna(maguro), 1 eel(unagi), and 1 hunk of krab stick. The rice pads(shari) are big, and the rice was kind of dry. The fish pieces(neta) were on the small side. Quality was not terrific, but O.K. Overall, slightly better than grocery store sushi, and a change of pace at the Food Court.
