Shelisa Burke

I contacted Shelisa to do the hair and makeup for my wedding. She seemed very accommodating and was very prompt in responding to emails but seemed a little pushy about me coming in to get a trial done. I was still in the process of choosing a stylist but with every email she sent me she insisted that we set up a trial. We corresponded in over 20 emails to verify various details and once I had all the information I needed I asked to confirm her pricing. When she once again told me to come in for a trial I told her that I would first need to confirm that her services were in the budget of my bridal party. Her response was very rude saying that if I couldn’t pay her prices that I would need to find someone else. She then sent an additional message saying that they suddenly got very busy and that my wedding date was the last open appointment and that it just booked. Kind of strange that she didn’t warn me that someone else was interested in my date and that it magically booked when I simply suggested her prices might be too high. I then asked if she could suggest any other stylists and she said that at my budget I would be best off going to a blow dry bar and makeup counter at the mall. Note that my budget (that apparently offended her) was only $ 20 less than her stated prices. I thought that it was very unprofessional and unprovoked. So just be warned that she isn’t open to various budgets and according to her she is completely booked so don’t bother contacting her any time soon.

I met Shelisa when she did the trial run for my youngest daughter before her wedding in LaJolla. Immediately I knew she had selected the right stylist! Shelisa was attentive, creative, and eased our concerns. My daughter loved her hairstyle and she had no concerns regarding her hair on her wedding day. The day of the wedding, Shelisa arrived on time to do the makeup and hairstyles for 9 bridesmaids, the bride, and me. All of us were very pleased with Shelisa’s creations and all were ready in time for the photographer.
My oldest daughter got married soon after in Huntington Beach but was concerned that Shelisa would not drive that far for her. To her amazement, Shelisa went to Huntington Beach and arrived on time, created beautiful hair designs and makeup, and had the entire wedding party waiting for the photographer. Both my daughters have healthy hair, and the products used on their wedding days washed right out. Shelisa is a warm and caring hairdresser and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a stylist for their wedding.

After meeting with several stylists months before my wedding, I decided that Shelisa Burke was the «one». She is able to do hair and makeup, which was very difficult to find, without having to pay higher $. She was so sweet and attentive to all my needs on my big day. We had her come to my house and she was right on time. Her attention to every detail down to my last curl was amazing. She also did the hair and makeup for two bridesmaids and my flower girl. The day was very relaxing and she also worked very well with my photographer, which allowed for her to capture some beautiful moments. I was truly blessed that day. And from that day we developed a very close relationship. Shelisa has been styling my hair and makeup for the last 8 years. She even came to my house last New Year’s eve in order to do my hair and makeup so that I didn’t have to get a sitter to watch my three young boys. She comes with all the right accessories so that you feel beautiful without even having to ask. Her kindness extends to all those around her, truly capturing her gift of making one feel so beautiful! She is always willing to put a little extra touch into ensuring you are completely satisfied. I do know that the compliments I received on my wedding day and even the many more that continued to follow throughout the past eight years are because of the amazing work Shelisa Burke does. She is truly an artist that really does care about her clients… which many then turn into friends! I highly recommend Shelisa to any new bride or person who wants to be pampered!

Shelisa has styled and cut my hair for over 15 years. The quality of her cuts is excellent, and she ensures you get what you want. My entire family trusts Shelisa for hair cuts and color, and she styled my aunt’s wedding. Couldn’t rave enough!

My daughter and I had Shelisa do our hair and makeup for my daughter’s wedding. This was the second time we used her and loved her as much as the first time. She is very talented and can really replicate any up do or hairstyle you want. My daughter wore her hair long with beautiful curls and I wore mine up. We were both so pleased with the hair and makeup! Along with being very talented, she is so sweet and upbeat! She makes you feel very relaxed. I highly recommend her!

Shelisa is an excellent colorist and stylist! She did my hair and makeup for my wedding six years ago and I’ve been going to her ever since. She’s amazing!
