Not even close to burger lounge, The meat was over cooked, salty, and the bun was dry. I also ordered the side of the haystack onions and They came out looking like an accompaniment to a burger not a side piece. I won’t be back.

First Smashburger experience, and I loved it! Clean, quick, and delicious. We were waited on by the assistant manager, who had an incredibly kind and gentle demeanor. Smashburger is a little bit like Steak and Shake – thin, juicy patties served on a toasted roll with shoestring fries. I wanted a milkshake but I managed to resist – maybe I will come back before my time in San Diego is over!

Is there a zero star rating? If there were I would have given this location that. I called in a to-go order and when I arrived I paid for it and something told me to check the order. I did and it was wrong. I waiting while the«Shift Lead» ignored me and keep doing what she was doing until I had to say«excuse me» to her in which she responded without looking at me «whats wrong with you?» First off, nothing is wrong with me but my burger order is wrong. She proceeded to argue with me about me not liking mayo. I haven’t since I was a kid and hence me not wanting it on my burger. She proceed to the register where I asked may I get another burger and it all went down hill from here. She looked at me with a cocked head and«Sir,(with an attitude from hell) and yelled at me «I have to get the receipt to get another burger». I asked for her manager’s number and next thing you know it was WWIII. It was like demon came out of her and then the«Team Lead»(name is Mike) ask me to take a step back because she was disrespecting me and then I told them I didn’t want a refund. I tried to explain what was going on and she rose her voice over me every time I tried to explain what I needed to Mike. Mike was no different and an even more so disrespectful. I clearly with out a doubt would fire both of them on the spot if I were their manager. By far the MOST disrespectful service I have ever had because I ask her if I could get another burger because I didn’t like mayo. To you two at Smashburger, I hope you don’t treat your family like this and hope to God that you have an better life where you don’t have to treat others with disrespect to make yourselves feel better.

The burger was actually really good. It was juicy enough that they didn’t smash it beyond taste and was cooked wsll. The condiments were really fresh as well. I didn’t like the fries at all and were kind priced high for what you get. I am not a fan of shoe string fries and they weren’t special in any way. I guess the burger was good enough but not worth going out of my way…

Price is worth it. What you would except from a quick burger joint. Food tasted good. Nothing special about the spicy fries. Got it to go, and no one was in the dinning room but we sat there while waiting on the food and it was pretty clean considering it’s a downtown location. Overall good experience and I’ll go back.

Walked in at 8:57 on Sunday, November 8, 2015 and we were immediately interrogated by the young lady at the register asking if we were there to pick up a to-go order. We replied no, aren’t you all still open? She then replied, well are you going to eat here? I don’t understand why these questions are necessary when you close at ten. We felt immediately uncomfortable, so we walked out. Her intention was to make us feel uncomfortable and leave so that they wouldn’t have an extra table to clean, and they were successful. If we are there over an hour before you close, shouldn’t we just order, sit down, and eat, without having to feel like we are a burden to your employees? Anyway, went McDonalds and got simple service with a smile and no questions asked.

First time eating here, and man was I disappointed! I was craving a burger and what I got was a dried out piece of meat. Ordered the big burger, which is no bigger than the regular burger. We ordered their smash fries, and sweet potato fries, which were either overcooked or not cooked enough… And don’t even bother ordering a milkshake. It’s a complete joke. They fill the cup up less than half. When asked about it, they say that’s just how they serve it. $ 5 for a sip of a milkshake. Needles to say, they won’t be getting my business again.

Oh wow so I wasn’t expecting the burger that I got. At all. I got the San Diego, which came with cilantro, like, pepper jack, and a spicy mayo, with a side of their fries. Both were to DIE for! First the burger: I was skeptical to squeeze the lime on top, but it just made all of the flavors come together perfectly. That mayo(and I HATE mayo) went so great with the spicy burger, but in no way was it all over powering. And I’m pretty sensitive to spice. The patty was so tender and juicy. The small one was perfect for me, but I know they have a bigger one that’s like a ½ lb. Also, their fries are fantastic! They’re chopped so thin, and they have the nicest hint of Rosemary.

We ordered to go because of the images on Unilocal,we were disappointed when we saw what we got. I ordered an avocado burger and it didn’t have but a slice of avocado and maybe a leaf of lettuce. My wife had a Smash Burger, which was even worst. Putting the looks aside, the taste wasn’t what we expected, I think I like Carl’s Jr. better. I don’t know if it was a one time thing but sadly, it was the first and last time we eat from there.

This used to be my go to place for burgers and fries but after today. I’m not sure I’ll be going back… We attempted to have dinner with my in-laws. We orders 4 burgers and fries. Eventually my in-laws order arrived, but 10 minutes later we still hadn’t gotten our burgers. Finally my fiancé went to the counter to ask about our order. He was told it would be right out. In the meantime, order after order just kept coming out — other people’s orders! After another 10 minutes, they brought out 2 orders. One was my fiancé’s order and the other was still NOT my burger. After another 10 minutes, after everyone else at the table was finished eating, they finally brought my order out, saying they added some extra fries for the delay… No offer to comp our meal or give us a free drink… Nothing but a couple extra fries, not even a full order of fries! Very disappointing… Moral of the story — if they royally mess up your order, don’t expect them to do anything except make you wait until they get it right, no matter how long it takes, no matter how much of your time they’ve wasted…

A buddy of mine had been raving about this chain and how awesome the burgers were… so when I saw that there was one down the street from where I was working for the week, decided I had to check it out. First impression — pretty big… about the size of a typical in-and-out. Noted that they also had beer… always a good thing with a burger. They also had a GREAT menu selection posted on the wall, clearly showing what items were and what was included. And finally, they offered the choice of regular fries or Frank’s Hot Sauce fries… that sounded pretty interesting. I went up to place my order — a bacon swiss burger(I know… highly original… not like I’d ever ordered THAT before), no onion, with Franks fries. Paid, got my order #, and found a table. About five minutes later, got my meal, and dug in. Ok. first — KETCHUP? WTF? There was NOTHING on the wall that said they put this crap on their burgers. I truly despise ketchup, so this was NOT good. Second — note the above about«no onion»? Smothered in them. Third — Franks fries? Um, no. Vinegar fries would be a better description. None of the spice of Franks, but definitely absolutely all the vinegar. After cleaning all the crap off the meat, tried just the burger to see how it compared to other higher end burger chains. And, well, it was«ok». Certainly nothing spectacular. I dunno — not impressed, wouldn’t bother going back — even with the issues above addressed, I’d go with Five Guys any day of the week… heck, I’d even go in-and-out before going back. To each his own, but this place just doesn’t do it for me.

Good, fast and friendly service. Clean when I went in as well. I ordered a chicken sandwich with lots of veggies in a lettuce wrap to be healthy. It was good for what I wanted, no complaints. I wasn’t super impressed which is why I’m only giving 3 stars but don’t let that deter you — Smashburger will deliver on a hot meal for not too much money, but nothing special stood out to me.

First, I’m vegetarian. Black bean patty option is delicious(when they don’t over-salt it). Love the many burger options. Some spicy, some not. My favorite is the spicy chipotle burger with black bean patty. Salads are fantastic here. One big complaint: they over-salt almost everything. A little salt brings out the flavor of other items. Too much salt numbs the taste buds. Most Americans have numb taste buds, so maybe this doesn’t matter to most people. But I specifically do not have salt in my home, so I can actually taste things(quite a concept). Last visit(11⁄8) tried their new Spicy Buffalo Fries. Employee told me they don’t apply salt — just the flavoring mixture, which is spicy. I love spicy, but the salt content on these fries made them completely inedible. I threw them in the trash. And I eat almost everything! Counter personnel are friendly and efficient. If the cook staff would stop pouring salt on everything i would rate this place higher. FACTS: Frank’s Red Hot: 190 mg of sodium per teaspoon, which is 8% sodium. It’s cayenne peppers, distilled vinegar(salt), water, salt(salt) and garlic powder. SmashBurger Buffalo Fries(regular size): 1,210 mg sodium(this is more than you need in a week). French Fries(regular size): 980 mg sodium THEREFORE, 230 mg MORE of sodium in the Buffalo Fries. NOTETOPERSONNELANDOWNERS: please learn about the stuff you sell. Don’t state that one thing is true, unless you KNOW it is true.

I’ve given this place multiple chances. A few times it has been OK but most of the time it falls quite short of my expectations. My fries today look and taste like they have been sitting on the floorboard of my car for three weeks. Seriously.

Slowest f**k^\g restaurant EVER! One person in line. Two people in restaurant. Dirty tables. Lazy workers. Except for cashier which is rushing around taking orders and then running to clean. This place needs a manager. One person just standing staring at order screen. This place should be called TRASHBURGER!

My first smash! I went for the original with no cheese, smash fries and a strawberry shake. Everything was smashing and dashing. The crew was friendly and nice. I thought the smash fries were good and had a nice fresh flavor. Smash-it-up!

Found this place after completing a tour of Petco Park. We were a party of 30 students and adults, so was looking for a place that would be convenient and able to accommodate all of us. After reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. My order consisted of(all regular orders, 5oz. patties): Smash Burger w/bacon, the San Diego, and BBQ Bacon & Cheddar Burger, along with side orders of smash fries & onion rings. SMASHBURGER: Nice & juicy, well salted. Not processed meat like typical fast food establishments. Customer has choices to add onto this burger such as bacon, avacado, egg, and sautéed mushrooms. SANDIEGO: Avocado, cilantro, pepper jack, lettuce, onion, tomato, sour cream & Chipotle mayo. FRIES&ONIONRINGS: Had the garlic fries and it was tasty. Onion rings was nice, crispy, & light; not oily at all. Considering our group baraged this place, they accommodated us very well! They actually SMASHED it!

Smashburger is one of my favorite burger chains, consistently great service, clean restaurants and excellent food! I love their veggie burger as well as their salads, they are great about letting me add and modify items to make the perfect burger or salad. Love the fried veggies, but the standout service is really what keeps us coming back. I am glad to see them doing so well and expanding all over, they more than deserve it!
