Fun at SOHO! Checked out the spot last and it was dope. Food was good, drinks were strong, and Danielllll is the coolest! This places is an Asian fusion gastropub, friends for bulgogi fries, I got a Bimbimbop sizzling plate and BF got the Tom yum noodle soup. Alllll of it was yummmm. We also ordered 2 pineapple drink thingys, Daniel tried to warn us that it was sharing size. But my friend is a big dude, and I’m a Big drinker. But for the average person, listen to Daniel and share lol We’ll be back, too much funnnn not to come back :)

I haven’t been here since the re-model and omg, the worst service ever. Our server was not attentive whatsoever, she was always on her phone. We were the only table at the restaurant so I couldn’t understand why the service wasn’t up to par. Giving them two stars is me being nice — I have no idea why. After the service, we knew we weren’t coming back and we didn’t even get our food yet! In all honesty, she was lucky enough to even get a proper tip from us… But because some of us used to be waitresses, we left it. Smh! The food wasn’t that great as I remembered. This place just needs to get in formation

This spot is amazing! Great beers, amazing food, and the staff is cool as f*ck! The Bulgogi fries are definitely worth the visit alone. My partner got the yellow curry, with duck(yes), and mussels(SOMUCHYES) on their lunch special and it not only filled us up, but has us wanting to come back for more! We come down to SD for Burning Man preparation, and this will be our go to place!

If love beer, this is the place for you. Very knowledgeable staff, great selections of mixed drinks, fresh new weekly craft beer taps — what more can one ask for? Food is great too. Get the Korean spicy wings, bulgogi tacos(awesome green salsa), or bulgogi fries(need to share). PadSeeEw is good, but spicy. Extensive Thai menu. Bulgogi burrito if you’re hungry and don’t want to share. Garlic edamame to share. Kimchee fried rice is killer too. If you’re lucky enough, grab a seat at the bar when it’s slower. Manager Patrick will educate customers on the various selection of regional craft brews. Great Japanese whisky selections. Ask the bartenders for their special bourbon mixers. No more cocktail soju’s, but plenty of fruity concoctions available. Crowds are young, slightly hipster, and predominantly mixed Asian. DJ’s on Thurs-Fri. Singles and groups welcome. Expect crowds on wkends. Dress to impress, but casual still gets in.

I’ve come into SOHO quite a few times now and I love this place! It’s fun and hip. They have a full bar and some great food! You’ve got to try the bulgogi fries, drunken noodles, pot stickers, spam fried rice, and law sausage. Everything I’ve had has been really tasty. It’s a spot where you can get Vietnamese, Korean, Thai, and Lao food. That’s pretty rare. We always get the watermelon drink where they actually serve you your drink inside a huge watermelon. They carve the inside and blend it with alcohol, and then pour it back in the watermelon for décor and add a colorful umbrella and voila! A watermelon drank! Super tasty and refreshing. It can get really packed in there so don’t be alarmed if there is a wait to be seated. Their service has on and off days but what place doesn’t? I’m definitely coming back in the near future.

SOHO, previously known as Nolbu, is somewhat of an Asian fusion restaurant because although it’s «Korean, Chinese, Thai» food, I sense a little Mexican inspiration. Especially considering green hot sauce was one of the sauces given, as well as pico de gallo being a topper for one of their dishes. I had a rather disappointing experience here last night with my best friend, but I’m being friendly and giving them 3 stars as opposed to 2, for the effort. I’ve been here once before when it had just been changed to SOHO, and it was alright. I liked the soju, and I don’t even remember the food. I come back a year or so later, and I feel as if a lot has changed – there was a DJ(unless that’s specific to some nights, but still), it was more spacious, the menu changed, and there was NOMORESOJU. My best friend and I wanted to share that popular drink with the alcohol in a watermelon, but they didn’t have it. So, I asked if they had soju, and they didn’t have any either. I was pretty bummed because I remember them having soju before. I wanted to leave at that moment, but I decided to give this place a chance. Our waitress was inattentive. I guess the fact that we were hidden away in the back made it hard for her to remember us, but she wasn’t a very good waitress to begin with. She wasn’t able to multitask, and was very slow. Our alcohol took longer than the drinks, which took a little while also. She told us things like, «I’m sorry the drinks took forever, I accidentally dropped one.» And she told us she would give us the bill, go to the table next to us and ignore us, then come back 15 minutes later asking if we got our bill yet. Also, I say she can’t multitask because she prioritized other tables over us and mentioned that she would«Pour drinks for a table, then come back for the bill» or «Take the order of a table, then come back for the bill.» She had a lot of excuses. It was just not good customer service, but luckily my best friend and I were enjoying each others’ company or I would’ve been annoyed. We ordered their calamari appetizer and bulgogi/spicy pork fries, along with strawberry mango mojitos. The calamari was good, and reminiscent of salted pepper calamari from Royal Mandarin. When we ordered the fries, we asked for no pico de gallo on top, and after waiting about 15 – 20 minutes, we get the fries with pico de gallo on top. I told the person giving it to us that we asked for no pico, so after a little of back and forth of, «we can remake them» and«no, it’s okay» they ended up giving us a «new» batch. I’m assuming they just scraped it off because they literally came back a minute later, and the fries now had a lot of cheese on top. The other waiter told us, «We added extra cheese for you guys» but I imagine it to just cover up the scraping of the pico. Regardless, the fries were good, but I stopped eating them after a little while because the fries started getting soggy and it was just an overwhelming taste of sweetness(from the meat) in my mouth. I really liked the tater tots, though, but on its own. The spicy mayo(I think it was) was pretty good. I must admit, the mojitos were pretty strong, and my friend and I couldn’t taste the strawberry or mango in it. My favorite part of it was the strawberry that was cut into the shape of a rose.

I came here twice: once for dinner and once for drinking. For dinner, I was expecting some tofu pot or some bulgogi etc. Since it’s «Korean.» However, all I saw was pad thai and broccoli beef. I got a little confused there but I guess it’s a fusion place. I ended up getting the pad see ew and my friend got the crab fried rice. Pad see ew is a safe dish and hard to go wrong with it. It was just very average. My friend’s crab fried rice was a little bland, just average as well. For drinking, I came with my girlfriends and we got a pineapple thingy to share. It’s basically some pineapple on the side and inside the pineapple’s shell is the booze. It was cool and visually stimulating but it wasn’t all that special in terms of the taste. The pineapple itself was not bad tho. This is a very average place I would say both for eating and drinking. Will more likely to come back for drinking tho. If you want good food, there’s definitely a lot of better options in the neighborhood.

My friend and I were looking for an Asian fusion place and found Soho on Unilocal. The pictures of the bulgogi fries caught our attention so we decided to give this place a try. Like most places in Convoy, parking is pretty limited. If you drive a little farther in into the little plaza, there are more parking spaces. We went on a Wednesday night so there were just a few more spaces left. When I first walked in, I was very impressed with the ambience, décor, aesthetics, and vibe of the place. I really love the tall wooden tables with high seats and there’s also bar seats. The lights were pretty dim, creating a different atmosphere than other places. They also have a great selection of beer and other drinks. Omg there was so much variety on the menu that my friend and I took so long to choose what we wanted. We ended up ordering the kimchi fried rice and bulgogi fries to share. Wow the bulgogi fries were really unique. Besides the usual contents, they added tater tots, cucumbers, and some chips. It was really cool and interesting, but it didn’t taste as amazing as it looked. It wasn’t bad though. We both liked it still even though it didn’t meet our expectations. I actually liked the kimchi fried rice more. Order it if you’re craving some kind of fried rice! The servers were also very nice and attentive. Because of the atmosphere, Soho would be a great place to eat and hangout with your friends late at night.(Soho closes at 2am) I’d come back! 3.5 stars

Soho is a relatively new Asian Fusion gastropub(formerly Nolbu) that opened in September 2015. I had previously visited Nolbu and was excited to return to Soho for happy hour /dinner. Significant other and I ordered the following: — Moscow Mule — my favorite drink always! — Beef Larb — beef with spicy chili lime sauce… my significant other was pleased with this dish because larb is usually a choice of pork or chicken but not beef. Delicious! — Bi Bim Bap — rice with bulgogi, fried egg, and veggies on a hot stone plate For a short and sweet conclusion — I definitely enjoyed it!

One of the best place to eat in town! Haven’t had decent Thai food for a while and came in here with big surprises! I’ve posted some pictures, check them out! Food was great! I’m not a beer drinker, but if you like to drink beer, they have lots of selections! I should have taken a picture of their beer wall! Will definitely come back for more! The only thing I would suggest for the restaurant/pub is to have 1 – 2 more servers for dinner service, that will make everything perfect!

Super small place. Limited parking. On a Friday night it gets packed, and they have a dj. I ordered their strawberry mango mojito. It was pretty good but the design on the strawberry wasn’t presentational. The drink was around $ 8. My friends ordered the $ 25 pineapple, it comes with spiced pineapples and a strawberry. I don’t think it’s worth $ 25 because it’s literally a drink in a pineapple. It’s not big at all. You can drink it between 2 people. I’d choose min sok chon over this place anyday.

My boyfriend and I were trying to find a place that was still open past 11PM and this was one of the places that was open really late in convoy during the time, which was super nice because there’s not much open around Mira Mesa or even in Convoy that late. Coming in on a Thursday night, there was a DJ playing some ratchet music, so yes, it is quite a bit loud in here, but there’s definitely a fun vibe. I felt like I was walking into a mini club, but after awhile, you get the vibe that it’s more chill haha. We got some beers, which average around $ 7-$ 8 and there were some cool beers on tap and a LARGE variety of drinks on the drink menu — from beers to cocktails. In terms of food, we ordered the Kimchi Ceviche as well as the Bulgogi Fries, which were both decent. My boyfriend thought the ceviche was a bit on the warmer side and could have been better a bit colder, but I still thought it was pretty good. They give you a lot actually and a ton of chips. I actually enjoyed the Bulgogi fries though and portions are HUGE! Definitely shareable among multiple people & we brought a lot home. I really liked the flavors and the bulgogi. There’s also an addition of some tater tots too which is always a plus. Also, this place has a super extensive menu with so much to choose from. It’ll be hard to decide, but at least you have countless options from three Asian regions(Korean, Chinese, & Thai) rather than barely anything to choose from. I really enjoyed the service though and each person who came to our table was really personable and friendly, especially our main server. I forgot her name, but she helped out table 15 Thursday night, so shout out to her — she’s super cute and cool! Overall, this place is a really chill spot to hang out with friends, but the parking lot is very tiny and the place isn’t that big, so I could imagine it getting pretty crowded. Food and ambience was decent, but nothing above & beyond to us. It was still a cool experience though.

My fiancé and I came here a few times when it use to be Nolbu. I’ve come through a few times now since they’ve revamped the place. They really have expanded it, and has a great ambiance. I’m a sucker for décor so I love the string downed light bulbs and accordion doors. They’ve changed the menu a lot and really stuck to their gastropub feel. They’ve got a great selection of beers on draft that change frequently. They’ve also set their hours to evening hours which honestly works best for the location that they’re in. Their new happy hour is every day from 5:30PM-7PM: — $ 3.50 on select draft beers — $ 1 off all craft cocktails — $ 1 off all neat pours — 25% off all appetizers A few of my favorite appetizers are the curry puffs, lemongrass sausage, calamari and popcorn chicken. I haven’t tried any of their entrees yet, but I’m sure I will at some point. It’s a nice place to hang out and drink while I wait for traffic to die down. As for service, it could be better. The bartender isn’t as attentive with timing and service, but the owner is great at taking care of his customers

Nice atmosphere, okay food, slightly disorganized staff Came on a Thursday night with 6 friends. We ordered a few pitchers and entrees. Bulgogi Fries/Spicy Pork Fries — both were not nearly as good as the predecessor store(Nolbu). Decent though, and looked nice! Crab Fried Rice — Not bad! Not as good as Koon Thai down the street but had flavor. Drunken Noodles — BLAND. Garlic Edamame — Tasty! Servers were disorganized. More than one asked us for our order and forgot one of our items. Decent beer selection

Bomb ass calamari! I got the original one and it’s so crispy and the squid on the inside is soft. It was perfectly cooked… Well the first time lol. Giving it 4 stArs because our 2nd order wasn’t as good as the first one. The flavor was consistent but the squid was super chewy the 2nd time. Also, try to sit close to the bar where servers can see you because when they get busy, it’s hard to see people sitting in the corner tables and they tend to take awhile to check up on you.

CALAMARIIS2DIEFORR!!! Trust me on this. I also tried the seafood yellow curry and the mussels were cooked perfectly. It’s a little more Thai traditional so it’s sweeter than other places. You can pick your spice level for this. Service is great. Minh is my favorite worker! She always is so attentive and makes my drink delicious. The beer, alcohol and cocktail list is huge. They’ll help you pick out what they think is best for you and don’t try to juice you for all your money. I just realized how there’s parking in the back as well so every time I come there’s space for me.

Thank you Unilocalers for awesome reviews that drew me to come try this place out. Wife and I came to Carlsbad for vacation, meet up with some family and wanted to find something to do. So I stumbled upon this place on Unilocal.Kinda reminded me of a place in Thai town, with a love DJ, great food, and full bar. It was worth the experience to try this place out next time you are near the area. They have a wide variety of foods, mostly Thai food. I had the duck soup and pad see ew chicken. Simply the best Thai food I had in a long time. Such flavors, reminded me of my childhood. Growing up with those two dishes it was really nostalgic. Cannot complain on the drinks either. I had a local brew, ballast point –Victory at sea. Service was excellent. Kind and friendly. Very attentive to the customers needs. Really recommend this place.

I wonder how many accidents have happened in this parking lot. It’s so small and narrow and especially hard to see if you’re here at night. Anyways, I came here on a Friday night and to my surprise, there was only one other group in the restaurant. So in the beginning, our waitress was very attentive to us and she was very helpful with many recommendations. I tried the potstickers, drunken noodles with tofu and crab fried rice. The potstickers were crispy but the inside was just decent. I appreciate that it came out steaming hot though. The drunken noodles were very good and I would get them again. The tofu in it was crispy too. The crab fried rice had a very fishy aroma to me. I did enjoy it but it had a strong fish smell. As the night progressed, the restaurant became more crowded but no more staff was brought out. So our waitress was left alone to man five tables AND bartend. I overheard her apologizing to a few people at the bar for having to wait so long for their drinks/food/checks. And it took almost 15 minutes to get her attention to get the check. Good food but definitely understaffed. Again, one waitress/hostess/bartender was working a FRIDAYNIGHT alone??? Lord help that girl.

Ambiance(5⁄5): A very modern décor that reminds me of a night club fused with a very upbeat restaurant. With the blasting rap and trap music, to the dimly lit lights, cool decorations on the wall, and the servers dressed as they were to go clubbing; I almost forgot I was at a restaurant until the food came out. Service(3⁄5): We did come with a party of almost 30 so having us seated between multiple tables and running back and forth may be hectic, but they were very attentive. I will say downside was some food came out quickly where as others came after 20 – 30 minutes. I can’t complain too much since the party was so huge. Food(4⁄5): I ordered a mild panang curry, and had bites and pieces of other dishes. I really liked my curry, the portion size was huge, I ended up getting to save half of it for my next meal — definitely a plus in my books. Of course, I took a few bites of the infamous bulgulgi fries, their asian fusion take on the carne asada fries that are pervasive throughout SD. Definitely worth ordering to share with 3 – 4 people alongside your other dishes. Though the prices are on the steeper side, the portions and food are definitely worth the price. Definitely recommend.

I came here on a Thursday afternoon. It is in one of these random holes you find in those tight and small plazas. I wouldnt have seen this place if my friend and I wasn’t in that area for a haircut. My friend and I decided to order their lunch specials, which had pretty good deals if you wanted a fufilling meal under $ 10. The appetizers were about $ 2 to 3, we got the chicken satay. I like that the chicken was fluffy and tasty. The dipping sauce added a nice tangy and sweet taste. The entrée costs were $ 7 to 9 depending on what meat you wanted. I’m not sure if these prices are usual for SD but this is a steal in New York City. My friend got the Thai Basil and I got the Pad See Ew. Both of us received our selected entrée with a small spring roll(it was delicious) and a nice sized salad(not fond of the dressing, not sure what it was). I liked the Thai basil, it was filled with flavor but my shrimp(only 4 pieces) pad see ew was average. It is my go to meal at most Thai places. But maybe my standards are high and it did not live up to that. I did not taste the sweetness(I only like low amounts of sugar but I don’t think there was any) of the sauce. The chinese broccoli was cooked just right, it still had that bright green color and was crisp so I know they added this last to prevent overcooking which is a win in my book. Nobody likes soggy or overcooked vegetables! Overall the meal was generous enough and the ambiance was nice. There was about 2 other tables while I was there so there was not much noise and the waitress service was good.

This place is a gem on Convoy! It’s big enough for a large get-together with friends but also intimate enough to bring a date to enjoy a finely crafted cocktail at the bar(or just make it a date with the CUTEBARTENDER… ahem Alex… jk hehe). Parking can sometimes be hard, but there are nearby plaza parking lots that you can just park at. They have a great selection of beers and cocktails. For all my ladies(or gentlemen) out that who don’t like beer, I highly recommend their Pineapple Cider!!! They also make one of my favorite Whiskey Sours! I always like to eat before I drink… or eat while I drink, and yes, this place not only has great drinks but also great food! The Drunken Noodle is delicious, I’d be careful on the spicy level since it can get really spicy! For drinking food, I highly recommend the Popcorn Chicken and Fried Calamari. Will definitely be back to try other things on the menu!

Was a little disappointed that not too long after my visit to Nolbu, this place got rebranded as SOHO. They must have done something with the lighting, because it’s a lot brighter than I initially remembered. Sadly the new lighting could not disguise all the spelling mistakes on the menu. Gill chicken? Chines broccoli? Anyway, the menu is now less Korean and more Thai focused.(The Thai options are not as unique or fusiony as the Korean offerings.) We wanted to start off with the Thai jerky, but our waitress forgot to put in the order, because we didn’t get it until after we were done with our meal and inquired about it. She profusely apologized, had the chef make it really quickly, and took it off our bill. I really applaud her professionalism and customer service skills. The jerky was seasoned well, but not that impressive. For my entrée, I went with a tried and true favorite of mine, pad Thai. The portion was so large, that I ended up getting 4 meals out of it. Overall, I wasn’t terribly impressed with the flavor. It was rather bland and dry. All in all, I’m sure I didn’t get their best dish and wouldn’t mind coming back for another try given the large portions and affordability.

As other reviews have already established, SOHO is essentially a rechristened NOLBU with a new focus on Thai fusion rather than Korean. Looking at those other, earlier reviews, some of which still describe some of the Korean dishes, I get the sense that perhaps SOHO has gradually shifted the Korean out of their menu.(I guess you can order some of the things off-menu?) We began with the beef jerky appetizer. Well, except we didn’t because they forgot to make it for us so we didn’t actually try it until we were already quite finished with our entrees. Thankfully, they removed the cost from our check. When it did arrive, I found it be rather on the tough side. Yes, I know it’s jerky, but it’s also an appetizer at a restaurant and not just a snack. I think different standards might apply. I then moved on to the main event(by «then» I obviously mean«previously»). I ordered the khao soi, a northern Thai dish that doesn’t typically show up in a lot of Thai restaurants in San Diego. Thus, I was kind of looking forward to it. And what I got seemed a little odd both in presentation and composition. Rather than show up in a bowl as the dish might typically be served, it came to me on a plate. More strangely, the noodles were not typical khao soi noodles but seemed more akin to ramen noodles. Moreover, there wasn’t a lot of the crispy noodles that generally define khao soi.(Note: there are, of course, several variations in how the dish can be made, but SOHO’s doesn’t seem to match any very closely.) The result wasn’t necessarily bad per se, but an experience likes this makes me wonder why the proprietor didn’t stick to the Korean fusion, an angle that the restaurant may have had a better handle on in its previous incarnation. Summary: SOSO.

I loved this place before they changed the name and I still love it. It’s pretty obvious that a lot of thought and effort has been put forth in order to put together a really strong selection of beers. Beer enthusiasts should definitely enjoy the selection. I’ve got no complaints about the execution any of the dishes I’ve had, but need to note how completely in love I am with their Korean Crispy Shrimp. It’s essentially their signature Korean Wings, but with Shrimp and probably one of my favorite things to eat in general. Definitely ask about them.

This is shortly gonna be the new hip spot in SD. It’s a good vibe for groups looking to have a low key, but still fun night with drinking involved. I went with one other friend. We got the Watermelon Soju and Bulgogi fries(the two biggest things on their menu, oops)… But it was sooo dank. ~~~~100% would recommend/return. Owner, Sean, is also incredibly friendly to his customers which made us enjoy our experience even more.

It was 9pm and I was so hungry! I didn’t get to eat at another place because of drama, so this place was the next option since it was right across the street. I found parking right in front and looked over the menu outside until my friends came. This place used to be Nolbu, so they still have a few items from the old menu. We tried the bulgolgi fries, Lao jerky, and mango sticky rice. The jerky was extremely salty, but we were told that it goes well with beer… The fries had tater tots at the bottom! It serves two, and there was a decent amount of beef, but the fries itself were just okay. We always have to finish with something sweet, but I was disappointed with our dessert. The presentation was nice, but the rice was a little too sweet and mangoes were not sweet enough. I saw a lot of people drinking watermelon soju, so I might try that next time. We ran into people we knew, and more people starting coming around 10ish. Looks like it’s a popular spot on Convoy!

They had recently changed their name from Nolbu to Soho and remodel the place too. It’s so much bigger and the décor is way nicer than it used to be. And had added more food to their menu. But their service has gone down the drain. We got seated right away on a Saturday night. We had to ask someone to take our order, and we where already sitting there for 20 mins. During those 20 mins, we saw waitress/waiter walking pass us to server their friends that just walk in, take their orders and get drinks before us. Also we saw them taking shots with their friends. So by the time we had someone to take our orders, they where already drunk. They made no eye contact, didn’t seem welcoming or friendly at all. Before the changed they were super friendly, they would always check up on us to make sure everything was fine. So when we finally got our watermelon vodka, it way too strong. Usually it’s watermelon soju which was better. It was the perfect balance of watermelon and soju. Now it’s just a hint of watermelon juice and tons of vodka. Used to be our favorite place to hang out and drink but not anymore. Will not be coming back.

Stopped by this place expecting it to be Nolbu but they are now called SOHO! They still serve the regular Nolbu stuff though so don’t worry! First thing you’ll notice is that the restaurant is MUCH roomier than the previous one! Major plus. The décor is much nicer too and I love the light bulbs that they are using. Our waitress was attentive, cute, took care of us and even joked with us too! First major change to this place is the additional menu items. They now serve a variety of Thai food in addition to their Korean Fusion. Their menu isn’t refined yet so you get like three menus to work with. Crab Fried Rice — cheaper than most Thai places, I really wanted to give this a try and wow is it good value. There is so much crab too! Remember to ask for lime to squeeze onto it. Beef Larb — interesting take on larb. This one is more saucy and doesn’t look like it was made from ground beef. It was still pretty good with the cabbage and cucumber provided but I think I like mine more traditional. Watermelon soju — classic Nolbu item. It is still really good here although I could have sworn they froze watermelon cubes as ice cubes before. I didn’t see it this time… maybe I’m thinking of something else. Laos Sausage — excellent sausage. It is well seasoned and with the dipping sauce it is all sorts of deliciousness. You get some fresh garlic, limes and peppers on the side. I recommend eating the fresh garlic along with the sausage because it is really strong by itself. Crispy shrimp salad — very good. On a bed of lettuce is crunchy wonton and crispy shrimp, topped off with this yellow mayo dress of some sort. A nice appetizer to start. Overall, I really like what they have done with the place. There is still a lot more work it would seem before they are fully finished but they can finally take large parties! The additional Thai cuisine is a nice surprise for a place like this but i’m glad to say that they are very good value. The portions are HUGE. Also, you get some really nice plating along with it. I think half our orders had tomato roses on them! It’s a nice touch.

we had one server who did not know how to split a check. I was literally standing with her for 10 minutes telling her exactly which items i wanted to pay for in a separate check, then when we got the second check the orders got mixed up… and we were paying for things twice. ridiculous. food wise everything is great. theres a lot more items here now and its all asian fusion type food. you get the asian flavors in some standard american meals. You don’t wait long for your food to come out. Also check the daily specials, they are pretty awesome. I also liked the new layout its very modernized.
