WTF!!! Why is this place closed? I am going to go cry now.

I haven’t been here in a few years. Back then, the kimchi phở and chicken gizzards were great. I stopped by on a recent Friday night and was pretty appalled. The tables were sticky and the service was downright terrible. I gave up on asking for the bill and ended up leaving cash on the table. I hate to bash on a place based on the service/cleanliness but I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

For those that remember DJ Karaōke, I missed it went it away. I was hoping that Soju Town will be reminiscent of DJ Karaōke. I was disappointed that it did not. The food is very average, nothing that wow me. We got the guava Soju and I was not a fan of it. I was hoping for Soju mixed with guava juice. Instead it was a guava concentrate. Halfway through drinking the Soju, the concentrated started to separate from the Soju and started to taste medicinal. Overall, it was a pretty decent experience. I will make another visit before I give my final thoughts.

I have been here too many times and this review is based on the only night I can remember: a Wednesday night back in December. I love their happy hour from 6 – 9, I think. I’m only saying«I think» because every time I go here, we order carafes of soju and pitchers of hite to the point where I forget memory. Good night? Indeed. Cheap prices too! I love their cheese fries; always great to have food when you drink. a lot. Tip of advice: get here early to take full advantage or their happy hour. Parking can be a pain in the butt(boo the idiots who double park. whatever), but the prices for cheap drinks and food are totally worth it especially when you go with friends! So if you’re looking for a fun drinking night, I’d recommend Soju Town. I haven’t been to any of their«karaōke nights»…thankfully.(no offense to those who claim that alcohol gives you the best singing voice… damn that liquid courage)

I came here with a few friends months ago and honestly I have no idea how we got home. We was there up until closing time in our room singing our hearts out til one of the workers told us they’re about to close. I love their cheesy fries and their calamari. The portions were pretty good so thats good. Their soju was pretty good also we had a couple of flavors but after awhile I kind of lost track. This place is fun to go to with a bunch of your friends, must go here again.

Despite the outrageous prices and subpar service, I’ve always just gone to Minsokchon because I knew it was there — NOT anymore! My friends and I decided to go to Soju Town after dropping by Minsokchon and remembering they charged $ 12 for a small flavored soju. Great choice, because it was happy hour at Soju Town, yay!(: The service is amazing, the food and happy hour prices were so good! Also, if the manager is there(older Korean man) order a «waffle-yo» from him and he’ll get you a froyo w/fruit on a waffle cone from Café Venti next door! yumm~

I adore this place. Great Soju, kinda dark and secluded. perfect for getting drunk and spilling your guts. *disclaimer* I’ve never actually eaten anything here this is just for their Soju. I like the pineapple soju, and I had the mango most recently very very good. The pineapple one kinda tastes like pineapple jello, but the mango was delicioius. push the little call button at your table for service. the waiters are quick and helpful and put up with drunk people well. Huge TVs around, i have no idea if they play the game during the day, but they play spify music videos at night. Be careful how much you drink, just because it tastes like candy doesnt mean it’s not *loaded*. hehe. Also — this is right next to tajima so you can get your ramen then come here for drinks.

Located in SD’s little«Koreatown» lies Soju Town. It seems as if every single major city in the US with a Korean population has a bar called Soju Town. I’m sure there’s no affiliation between them but I just thought I’d point it out. The name Soju Town is played out in my book. After dinner and drinks around the corner at Do Re Mi, we decided to stop by for e-cha(round 2). We wanted to get our sing-on to release the stress and energy. The place is pretty nice and clean. The food menu was a bit pricey for what you get but still much cheaper than LA’s Koreatown bars. Up north expect to pay $ 15 per bottle of soju anywhere you drink. We found out we had just missed the happy hour so that sucked. I guess there’s not much to say other than it’s your typical Korean bar/noraebang. I liked the vibe there and the workers were all nice. I would visit again should I decide to stay in SD the next time around.

The only time I come here is during its happy hour which is 6−9PM. they have a special menu with all items for $ 6.95. The soju it pretty good and it creeps up on you after you finish about 3 pitchers of it. They have a lot of flavors to choose from, the yogurt, pineapple, and lychee are my favorite. I have used the karaōke rooms before and they are pretty decent. This is one of the few if not the only place in SD that lets you drink alcohol while renting a karaōke room. The song choices were decent but needed to be updated. The food is meh, i think it has gotten a little worse. The fried foods are not good. The batter just gets tiring to eat and the fried chicken is almost 90% batter. The kimchi fried rice however is good. Service here is nice too very helpful and attentive. Parking however is a BITCH especially fri-sun nights.

I finally got to try Soju Town this weekend… on Halloween! Didn’t really have plans to dress up and go out so my friends and I opted to come here for dinner and some drinks. I didn’t know this place had karaōke… my friends failed to tell me. haha. Anyway, this place is alright. I still think Min Sok is way better. We ordered 2 specials. One with fried calamari, fries, and lychee soju and the other with fried chicken, fries, and iced tea soju. I really enjoyed the fried calamari and lychee soju. Not a big fan of the iced tea soju but it was worth the try. The workers were super nice and they encouraged my friend Jackie to keep singing since she sang her first song soo good. That was nice :) We had a weird experience though. some random guy came in and sang a song and left. Then he came back to sing another song and sang the first song again and left. Really random. HAHA. I think I’ll give this place another chance. Hopefully my next experience will be better.

Came in around 7:30 on a Saturday night and the place was empty. Where are the crazed-out karaōke fiends? Oh, but there were some middle-aged men belting out what I believe were ‘70s Korean songs in one of the rooms. Yeah, the booths/rooms weren’t that soundproof. Service was fast and friendly. Looks like a family-run business. The TVs had«Music Bank» on, which was awesome. I love watching my kpop shows in krestaurants. Since 6−9pm was Happy Hour, we were given a special menu where everything was only $ 6.95. We ordered the seafood pancake(deeeeelish!), Spam kimchi fried rice(yummy!), a bowl of ramyun and cham pong soup(nice and mild, tasted like genuine home cooking) and a cute little carafe of lychee soju(heavenly!). 30 minutes of noraebang was $ 6.95(plus food). We didn’t do that, so I asked if we could also do karaōke in the main dining area. The owner(?) said yes, and it’s $ 2 per song. Anyway, we skipped that, too. So we basically just ate there, but we weren’t disappointed by the food or the fact that our other server reminded us of Jay Park.

Came here the the night before, and man I gotta say, it was pretty awesome Me and a few friends came here the other night. We arrived a half hour late to our 7:30 reservation for a small room because of the horrendous parking in Convoy on Saturday night. But our server was really cool about it and offered us a large room since the small ones were occupied. Since it was 8PM we still had one hour left for happy hour, so the large room was only $ 17~! Sweet. The large room was comfy, spacious enough, had a flat screen with two mics and some cute lighting effects. Our server explained to us how the remote worked since it was our first time to Soju Town. He was very attentive. The song selection was satisfying. I do wish it had more recent hits to offer though. There’s a large variety of English, Korean, Japanese and other Asian language songs. Most of it was Korean though obviously. I happily drooled over that since I fancy myself some K-pop. On top pf that, this place gets 5 stars on the fact that they had a lot of System of a Down songs alone. The food and drinks were delicious. We ordered strawberry soju(delicious but weak) and unflavored soju, not looking to get more than just a slight buzz. My people don’t really need any alcohol to let loose and be ridiculous. The food was out of this world delicious. The fried calamari was was spicy and well cooked, not too chewy. And the kimchi fried rice with spam was destined to be delicious as anything with a fried egg and spam = success in my book. The orange chicken was pretty good too. Good for your boring white friends. Haha~~ We belted out songs of ever genre and language for 2 hours before we decided it was time to withdraw. Our server was gracious enough to let us get a last song in without charging us for going into the next hour while out bill was being taken care of. It came out be around $ 100, about $ 25 between the four of us. Not bad~~ I’ll definitely be coming back soon to sing Bo Beep Bo Peep and mack on good food again. I also must try their yogurt soju.

Great place to go. Happy hour every day from 6 – 9. Everything on the menu 6.95. Can’t beat it. Went with 3 friends got a pitcher of hite, and and 3 pitchers of Flavored soju for 6.95. We always always get the chicken wings and ask them to put the sauce on each wing instead of dipping sauce on the side. Their chicken wings are HUGE! Its double the size of most places. I am never disapointed after coming here. There are buzers on the table like most korean places so if you need help just hit the buzzer and they’ll be over. They also have kareoke for you that love to sing. Parking can kind of suck, but thats not really their fault. Its small for plaza. Just park on the street, worth the walk for sure.

Testing. testing 1.2.3.Is this mic working?! Okay.it didn’t quite go down that way, but I did have a grand ‘ol time here! I’ve lived in San Diego most of my life and yet I have never been to a karaōke bar/restaurant before… and YES I’m Filipina! Most of my karaōke-ing is done in the comfort of my own home or someone else’s. .but if you know me. I’ll try anything at least once. Besides, «drunk karaōke» sounded appealing at the time. Don’t get any ideas now. =) Anyway, met up with some fellow Unilocal friends and friends of Unilocal friends whom I now consider«friends-friends» to sAng the night away! Yes. that was intentional! It’s always fun when a group of people don’t care how they sound(good or bad) as long as they’re having an AWESOME time!!! From old school boy band ballads to duets to even 50 Cent’s, «In the Club» rap… everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves as if we’ve known each other for years. Yup. I felt that comfortable and I’m usually shy when it comes to singing around people I hardly know. A variety of Soju flavors were ordered: Watermelon, yogurt(my fav!), green apple, and strawberry. From fried rice to chicken wAngs to kimchi. there were good eats for everyone to dig into between songs. I do recall people eyeing the fried egg over the fried rice and I have yet to find out who ate it at the end of the night. It just magically disappeared! It may forever be a mystery. dun.dun.dun…but the service was fast and the friendly waiter seemed to be very attentive coming in and out of the room with our orders. I don’t know what it is. but«soju + karaōke» could practically be a match made in heaven. Maybe because everyone tends to be in a positive high, exuding the same HAPPY energy. Everything around you tends to look and sound good. Okay. maybe I went a bit too far there, but I was mighty chipper the WHOLE night! =p When it comes to singing, time really does FLY!!! A good 3 hours and it was time to say our goodbyes! I know… already!!! Boo. This is definitely a great spot for family and friends who are down to just bond, sAng, and what I like to call, EXPRESS yourself!!! I can’t wait to go back already! Part 2 anyone??! HOLLLLLAAAA !!!

I love how every table has a button to harass the employees! Jenna N. and I had come in late and was wondering why they weren’t there to take our order yet. Then we were casually told«Oh, just press the button!» We were amazed enough to say«wow» out loud. We ordered their Yogurt Soju Cocktail pitcher, which is about $ 16 if I remember correctly. We had somewhere to go afterwards so we couldn’t drink much. I like soju cocktails because they taste so good, as if there were no alcohol involved! But remember: soju’s a creeper! I also got to try a kimchi dish from one of our friends and it was really good! It had clear noodles and some dough-like pellets marinated in their kimchi. I politely declined when they offered me some more but I secretly wanted it all! Soju Town is definitely a nice option to have when pondering what to do for the night. I hear they have happy hour specials every single day so I can’t wait to come back for discounts!

We had a noodle craving today so we stopped by Soju Town. It was around 7, so we got great happy hour prices — $ 6.95 for everything on the menu. I had the Ramyun soup, which was decent. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and it was pretty spicy. I’m a vegetarian so I didn’t get it with anything else, but you can also order it with meat. My husband had the phở, and he seemed to enjoy it. There’s buttons at all the tables that you press to get service — we weren’t sure what to do when we first got there, having never been to a similar place. So it did take a minute before we got service, but that was our own fault. After the waiter instructed us to press the button when we needed something, it was much quicker. I was impressed with the customer service. I accidentally had my glass slip out of my hand, and I was super embarrassed, but our waiter was gracious about it and helped us clean it up. So the food was good, not great, but it’s worth eating here when you’re craving noodles.

Happy hour is til 9pm with new specials! Waaaay better than Min Sok Chon! Although the menu is not as extensive, their food is cheaper and tastier. I can’t believe that someone is complaining that the soju was too strong. I liked that you could actually tell there was alcohol in there unlike most other places where their soju just takes like juice. Like others have mentioned, their wings are really HUGE and meaty. I didn’t think they were too spicy, but then I really like spicy food.

What’s with all the 5 star reviews? I’m not sure it’s really that super crazy. The food is decent. The spicy chicken wings are pretty spicy and I almost couldn’t taste the flavor since my lips were numb. The kimchi pancakes are pretty bomb! Get that if you’re not getting anything else. The interior doesn’t feel like a dirty korean bar, and I happen to like dirty korean bars. The flavored soju was strong. The prices are pretty decent. The owner is the best, most gracious host. The waiters are also really accommodating. The karaōke is pretty decently priced, and the couches are super comfortable. The inside of soju town reminds me more of some place you would eat, like a nice café, instead of a k-bar, which I thought was the case since the name alludes to nothin but soj
