I come here to study during the day from time to time since I live in the area. It is not open late at all which is a bummer but they do have free wifi and a decent amount of outlets. I like that I can enjoy a nice cup of refillable coffee while i’m here and their tables have plenty of space for me to place all my study materials. Food is just OK. I recommend the Chicken Pesto Sandwich. Service is hit or miss. Pastries and cake have been sitting in the display all day so don’t expect it to be super fresh. Their crepes are pretty good.

Terrible. I wish I could have something positive to say, but I just don’t :( It all started with the service. I asked for a coffee & dessert in to go containers, even though I was going to sit out front for just a few minutes(Which I informed them of.) The cashier /hostess lady said«No, we don’t do that» Confused I asked«You don’t sell to go orders?» pointing at the to go coffee cup stapled to the menu on the wall. She stated«No, not if you want to sit out front, you have to use a real mug». I reminded her that I said I was going to sit out front for just a few minutes, I didn’t have the time to sit and be «waited on» but I actually wanted to take a few bites of the cake before heading home — can you blame a girl for wanting some cake!!! By the way — the outside seating was COMPLETELYEMPTY. Not like I was going to hoard a table for hours on end. Finally she unhappily said«what do you want»(Kind if sounding like Red from Orange is the New Black). I repeated my order to her — didn’t change from the 1st items I had mentioned to her. She put her hand out, looked past me to the outside & said my total was $ 9 something or other. I paid & waited. She turned and said, «Go sit outside, I take it to you»…ok… I received my coffee & chocolate cake a few minutes later, I sipped the coffee which was good and then took a nibble of the chocolate cake. Dry, Dry, Dry, Dry… SO I tried just some of the whipped cream on top & it was«Crunchy»…it was gross and had probably been sitting there for a day or so. Too bad. I figured I could add some ice cream to the cardboard cake once I got home to add some moisture & drink lots of milk with it, but nothing was going to revive this bad boy. All in all a waste of time, a waste of $ 9 — $ 10, a waste of my breath when I spoke to «Red», a waste all in all

Absolutely loved this place. The bistro is family owned with great service and even better food and drink specials. I highly recommend it here.(It also helps that it is in walking distance to my home!) On the weekends they have Happy Hour with $ 4 wine specials and fantastic food selections like escargot! Which I had never had until I came here. I will definitely be a regular here.

I came here for lunch and was glad that I tried out this cute French bistro. I ordered the chicken and mushroom crêpe and substituted the salad with french onion soup. The food took a little bit time to arrive(we were a party of 6), but it was worth the wait! The portions were pretty big that I was really full afterwards. The flavor of my dish was very savory, the cream sauce used for the dish was just enough to have it in every single bite! The french onion soup was not too oily or salty(usually my concerns for french onion soup). Overall I was very happy with my dish. One of the waiters was serving and speaking French to the table next to us, and made our meal even more pleasant listening to the romantic language in the background! :)

I wanted to love this place — their menu has so many yummy sounding things on it! But on a slow day in January I went to St Tropez with my mom and 2 sisters — and it sucked. This is our story: Food: some of the food that actually arrived to our table was good. It wasn’t hot or plated nicely, but it was good. The fritatta was bland, unseasoned, and plain. The french toast was thin but nice, and the mushroom and chicken crêpe was the highlight. However, it wasn’t good enough to cover up the debacle that surrounded the 4th order, which took 1 hour to get to us — and sadly, it was by far the easiest order we made: a Niçoise salad(pre-made tuna salad on top of a bed of lettuce with a chopped up cucumber, a hard boiled egg and a few slices of potato). Worse than the Niçoise salad was the service and treatment we received in trying to locate our lost salad — and it absolutely ruined our whole experience. About 20 min after placing our oder(there were 4 people in our party, plus 2 kids who didn’t order any food), 3 of the 4 of us received our food, but my sister’s salad was MIA. Over the course of the following 30 minutes, we asked the waitress 3 times about the missing salad. Still MIA. Where was it? Did they forget about it? Did she forget to put the order in? Was there a problem with it? Did they run out of lettuce and have to make a quick grocery run? One of the times we asked about it the waitress said it was taking a long time because we asked for it without onions and the kitchen made it WITH the onions and so the whole thing had to be redone — and that is what was taking such a long time. Apparently, taking onions off of a salad takes roughly 30 minutes for the chefs at St Tropez(not during peak hours mind you — there were a number of empty tables and in fact the whole patio was empty the day we were there, so basically, more than half the restaurant was empty). When the salad finally arrived(20 min + 30 min of waiting for the no onion version), it had the wrong dressing on the side. My sister had originally asked the waitress to bring her a different salad dressing than the one listed on the menu. The waitress said«yes of course, be right back with that» and then came back with nothing in her hand, stating instead that the kitchen told her that they«can’t just give away thousands of dressing types to customers» and that what we got was what we would need to use on the salad. At this point, my sister started to get irate. The waitress went back to try her luck again with the angst ridden kitchen staff — and voila! she came to our table 10 minutes later(not 2, or 5 — but TEN) with the correct salad dressing. I imagined there was a huge argument in the kitchen over whether or not to cede to this customer and give her a salad dressing that wasn’t preassigned to that specific salad. Heads must have rolled. I also imagined that the dressing we ended up receiving probably had various staff members’ spit in it. Yum. The salad, after all that — was bland, boring, and tasteless. When the waitress came to ask how the food was, and we told her that this salad, after taking exactly 1 hour to reach our table, was actually pretty bad, her response was«oh, sorry.» I was a waitress for 5 years in college and after, and the one thing I was sure that would happen next never did: I fully expected the manager to come to our table and apologize first for the long delay in waiting for the damn salad and secondly to apologize for it tasting so blah. I wasn’t holding my breath on her saying anything about the soup-nazi-ish-grip her kitchen staff was keeping on the notion of dolling out extra ramekins of salad dressings to «random customers.» It never happened. None of it. Instead, we got a bill with the ill-fated salad right there in the middle, sandwiched between the other items. When the waitress came to get our money we politely told her that when a customer has such a terrible experience at their restaurant and the manager doesn’t come to our table to even apologize, and then the messed up order is still on the bill, and the food is bland and tasteless and boring, then that equals a terrible experience — and one that none of us will never, ever, want to repeat. The waitress looked at us blankly and said«oh, ok.» If you’re looking for good food — there are lots of better places. If you’re looking for good service — there are MILLIONS of better places. Note to all you who will go to St Tropez in Towne Centre despite this review: don’t order the Niçoise salad. Or ask for additional or different salad dressing. You’ve been forewarned.

Absolutely recommend this little gem. Def suggest the tomato basil soup and croque Monsieur. They were a little busy especially brunch time on a Sunday afternoon. I’m so happy I discovered this spot! It’s close to where I live and it’s not snooty like other French cafés.

I’m really torn on what rating to give St. Tropez as I felt like the food was five stars but the service was maybe two stars. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt though, assume it was an off night and round up to four stars. I arrived at the restaurant around 8:30 on a Thursday night, which I thought would give me and my dinner companion plenty of time to order and enjoy our food before the restaurant’s posted 10PM closing time. After looking over the menu for a few minutes, the waitress arrives at our table to tell us that if we want to order food, we’ll have to do it soon because the kitchen is closing. Considering that the restaurant was supposed to be open for another hour, we were surprised to be rushed into ordering but we quickly settled on the salmon crêpe and chicken pesto pizzette. We wanted to order something for dessert too and we informed the waitress of this and yet she never returned to take our dessert order so no sweets for us! As for the food though, the chicken pesto pizzette was one of the best things that I’ve ever tasted. I highly, highly recommend ordering this pizza and I will likely do so when I return again because despite the rushed service, I will return just for this pizza. The salmon crêpe was fine but I think I’m just not a fan of fish in my crêpe and this was the first time that I had tried it. I ended up taking the salmon out of the crêpe and eating it separately, but that’s probably more my weird food issues than anything else. If you’re into salmon crepes, I imagine this would be quite good. So I suppose the moral of the story is don’t arrive after 8:30PM or you may feel like you’re a nuisance and definitely order the chicken pesto pizzette!

Very elegant little shop tucked in the renaissance shopping center. I frequent this place at least 3 times a week for their fantastic cheese board, wines, Amazing desserts and anything my daughter craves off the menu. everyone here are very hospitable including the owners who will personally deliver your order. I like that and I truly adore St. TROPEZ! !# XOXO

I’ve been to other st tropez locations but finally got around to this one. I usually get the salad Niçoise salad but today tried the goat cheese omelette with egg whites. It actually was pretty darn good! Food wise, I’d definitely go back. Service was not fantastic(but not bad). It was hard to get refills and our check.

I usually like all the St Tropez restaurants and this one is no exception, although i miss when it was Wired Café with its tapas and its charm. Wired was perfect for a date whereas St. Tropez is mostly for friends gatherings. For me has become like a new meeting point in tge Reinassance apartment complex area. A touch of French charm among the faux Italian architecture. I like to meet with my girlfriends living nearby for Sunday brunch. Seating outside under the umbrellas is very pleasant and we feel at home. Food is hit and miss, but I normally like any hot panini and the pastries. I go more for the patio casual-chic atmosphere than anything.

There are some great things on the menu here, especially if you love café food. I come here at least once a week on my lunch break and it’s always pretty mellow. Plenty of seating inside and on the patio. Of all the salads I’ve tried, the goat cheese is my favorite. The salmon crêpe was pretty good, but I would go for the caprese panini if you’re looking for something more filling. Chicken noodle soup is average. The staff is very nice but my only complaint is the service can be kind of slow if you’re dining in, even if there’s hardly anyone there. Waiting on the check is the worst. Sometimes I just order to go and eat in the nice park behind it. Also, I don’t know what kind of soy milk they use but the soy chais I order are always delicious. Overall a good spot to grab some breakfast/lunch by yourself or with company.

Overall 3 stars We came here Thursday night for Happy Hour… after all, it DOES say Wine Bar… lo and behold, they don’t have a current liquor license to allow them to serve beer or wine… although it is «pending.» Always makes me wonder WHY a license is pending when the business has been around for a while… disappointing! We came back here again on Saturday morning after an 8 mile hike at Torrey Pines beach. Coffee and pastries. Very good and fresh. 4 stars for the Café/Bistro for coffee/pastries –1 star for the non-existent«Wine Bar»

St Tropez! so many good things to say about you! i had come a week ago and i was happily surprised at how yummy the food was. i ordered the breakfast with california eggs benedict, wow it was so good! it came with poached egg, avocado, tomato on a toasty slice of bread and a yummy savory sauce on top. the sides were fruit, and oven roasted rosemary potatoes, needless to say i was unable to eat it all but i wished i could! Also we ordered their mimosas and the server was always attentive and refilled our glass often. i also noticed everyone who works here spoke french which makes me think this place is probably pretty authentic. I will definitely be back! :)

I loouvvvveeee this place!!! It’s like a hidden gem… Takes you to France immediately :-) In a small corner this European style café is such a retreat from the hustly bustly Starbucks… I am a fan of their croissant, which normally I am very picky about! Their coffees are real nice(they do make the real Italian style macchiato, not the milky American version). The interiors are also very simply but nicely done… I like their collection of wines… Planning to go there for a hearty breakfast with crepes or paninis! Do do do have their wonderful sangria!!! I think they serve it only during happy hour and everyone around had a glass of Sangria… They actually ran out of it coz of the demand… Highly recommended

Lunch with friends… sounds like a movie but it’s been a while. Some of our other friends that used to work in UTC are now in different parts of the city or California so when we scheduled this, it’s been a while for the three of us. This location used to house a more informal place called WIRED which I think was an old Internet style café(all I ever saw was WIFI and desserts when I passed by). St. Tropez brand of Café and Bistro and Wine bar is no stranger to me. It has had several other places around San Diego. I don’t know if the place is related but the name and menu suggests so. For lunch, we 3 of UTC lunch bunch ordered off the big menu, mostly french bistro stuff, I had the Albacore tuna sandwich(half) and half soup(I ordered the French Onion which was another 1.50 extra other wise, you order the soup of the day avail). UTC Lunch Bunch #2 ordered the Salmon Salad and UTC Lunch Bunch #3 ordered similar to mine, half panini(crusted) and half soup. We all enjoyed the meals and was fine since we sat outside on the patio on a nice wonderful day. Nice place to enjoy a little lunch.

I love the salmon crepes and the ratatouille crepes with goat cheese added at St.Tropez. The creamy quiche Lorraine is rich enough for me to share since I can only eat half. The raspberry Napoleon or the apple tarte tatin are worth saving room for! Cyril is my fav server at St. Tropez, because he has inherited great taste in food from a long line of European chefs. «What should I order today?» I ask, and I’ve been more adventurous with the menu because everything he recommends is scrumptious! He’s not a chef, but fresh gourmet food is in his blood.(-; The open-faced grilled veggie & goat cheese sandwich on multi-grain is also yummo. Today the tuna melt on a fresh baked croissant was fantastic! It was a daily special for $ 8.25 and came with a side salad. I love basking on the sunny patio, protected by the umbrellas. There are indoor tables as well. Their iced tea is fresh brewed, and their espresso over ice is always nice. I tasted the side salad today, and didn’t find any wilty pieces. Hurray. I’m very picky about salads. The side salad is ok. The tomato soup is great on a cool day. The goat cheese & herb omelette is nice and relatively light. St Tropez is in the renaissance town square, behind The UTC mall. Parking is tough between noon and 1:00. Some spots are marked 30 minutes only. I highly recommend St. Tropez as a delish, consistent, and friendly choice.(-;

Nestled in between some less creative culinary options in a University City strip mall you’ll find St Tropez — seemed like a solid«go-to» and potentially a healthier option. This particular location has a nice outdoor patio, which was where we posted up for a quick business lunch. The menu really covered all bases and the roast beef panini seemed right up my alley. The server brought us our drinks and made the suggestion that I should order it on the baguette since it was made on premise. Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately ALL customer service stopped there. Though the panini was delicious, we never saw our server ever again. Not to offer refills, check how the food was, to drop the check… nothing! Eventually one of his co-workers walked by and noticed that we had grown anxious. I just handed her my credit card and asked for a box so we could get on with our day. She was quick to deliver and I was on my way with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth… not from the food. Summary: St Tropez, decent food, struggling service.

This was the first time I’ve been here and I think they have other locations in SD, but slightly different names… it’s a pretty small resto– there are some sweets to tempt you when you first walk in. I chose the back area because I like sitting in(half) booths. Our server recommended literally everything on the menu lol. Hmmmm… even though it was noon, they were still serving breakfast! Yay! I tried the Belgium waffle with a side of bacon. It was good! It came with plenty of fresh strawberries and bananas and some powdered sugar and whipped cream. It took a little long for our food to come out though. My friend ordered the soup and he said it was really good. Comes with sliced bread. Parking in this plaza during peak hours might be hard.

I had a very well prepared spinach and feta omelet couples with a robust Americano. The omelet came with a side of rosemary potatoes and fruit.( ) The omelet was very fluffy, well seasoned, and cooked properly.( ) If you enjoy feta, as I do, this omelet will hit the spot, because of its abundance of flavorful tart feta cheese, and the not to mention the fresh spinach that was well distributed throughout the omelet.( ) Great omelet. The side of fruit was freshly chopped, especially the ripe juicy strawberries. However, the side of rosemary breakfast potatoes had a dull color and a overly soft texture, as if they had been previously cooked and then reheated.( ) I only ate one and left the rest. The Americano was very good with it rich robust flavor yet smooth enough to enjoy.( ) The service was good. I received a couple of refills from the female server. I ate on the outside patio and it was pretty clean and organized. They also make and sell a variety of sweet looking pastries, which unfortunately, I was to full to try.
