Actually it seems their food got better. Still big portions and decent price. Taste is a bit better. I think the chicken teriyaki bowl is a good deal. The sushi isn’t the greatest, but it’s a big portion. Not bad for a quick bite to eat.

I hate writing negative reviews but this place was gross! I stopped by on my lunch to the place next door, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and figured I would just buy my lunch while waiting for my cake order. After looking over the menu, I just got a weird vibe of the employees and it was empty at lunch time in a pretty busy center. Anyways, I ordered the only real seafood meat they had, a snow crab roll with avocado and it was disgusting!!! Tasted like old chewy meat that they tried to mix with spicy mayo. I would expect this for dirt cheap prices but it was about $ 9 which is average for a basic roll. Vibe was just weird and food is suspect.

Great place to get a quick Teriyaki steak bowl and Miso soup! Wish there were more locations in SD.

Great teriyaki bowls! Yumm! Great service as well! I’m not sure why there are such few stars. This place is my «go-to» for an easy, quick dinner with lots of flavor.

ALERT: Went back in there and they denied my friend his rightfully earned military discount after her served in the Marines for 8 years. He showed his Veterans card many times to them in the past and it was never an issue. Won’t support this Business again

Slightly pricy for the type of food but the meat quality is good. It would be nice if the meat to rice ratio wasn’t 5 – 1 also. I got the sumo bowl which was chicken and beef. My favorite thing about this place is that they offer a brown rice option. Similar to flame broiler or a higher quality yoshinoya but with sushi options. If youre a fan of spicy foods, dont expect the«spicy» option to do much. Load up on sriracha lol

Really low quality sushi… I think grocery store sushi is probs Aly fresher and better than this place. And, I don’t like grocery store sushi. I would not go here again.

Pretty good teriyaki chicken, and they have good bento boxes. I wouldn’t recommend the sushi. The service here isn’t very good. I would only recommend eating here if you want something quick.

I work near by and I love quick Asian food so this place is obviously convenient for me during the week. The food tastes alright and will get you full, but for the pricing, I don’t think it’s worth it. They probably compete with Sansai across the street.

I have driven past this place more times than I can count. It’s in a pretty busy Mission Valley shopping center along with many other quick and easy spots for lunch or dinner. A few of my coworkers wanted some quick takeout and we decided on Sushi Hut. Walking in the door I was pleasantly suprised by the interior. It was super clean and very well put together. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I wasn’t in the mood for sushi and I gotta be honest I don’t eat sushi just anywhere. The set up looked legit and one of my coworkers had sushi and said it was decent. Instead I went for a spicy steak bowl with brown rice. It was pretty good for a steak bowl. Considering it’s never the best cuts of meat. The portion of meat was more than fair and the rice was good. If you’re in Mission Valley and looking for a quick spot check this place out. It’s good food st a good price. Nothing amazing but definitely a place I wouldn’t mind going back in the future.

I like this place. It’s much better than going to buy a pizza or some hamburgers, and it’s very cheap. Me and my boyfriend had teriyaki chicken, miso soups, and shrimp tempura roll. We liked everything. Thank you. We’ll be back)

I have had sushi all over the world. Portugal, France, Dubai, Bahrain, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Florida, NY, Cali, Spain, & etc. For the price you pay its doesn’t equal out. I had their Philly Roll. If you have ever washed dishes as a teenager and accidently got splashed dish water in your mouth. its disgusting.that is what their Philly Roll tasted like, I got nauseous and nearly threw up in my mouth. I have had discount gas station sushi that had better quality at a third of the price. I thought maybe it was just me, gave the sushi to my friends they could not eat it either. Please close this restaurant in hopes of not hurting others. Thanks ~How are these guys staying in business?

Convenient and decent sushi. Pretty good menu with good combo boxes. Well priced for anything cooked. Service is great for a causal dining place.

Oh really, you prude ass Unilocalers? You’re soooo disappointed with FASTFOODSTRIPMALLSUSHI? what did you expect?! Stick with your day job and quit your bitchin. This place is fine if you want a quick asian/sushi fix(and you don’t feel like venturing far). Don’t expect grandiose quality… but its good enough for lunch.

This place has some pros and some cons. The biggest pro would be that you’re getting a good amount of food for how little you’re paying for sushi. The biggest con is that their rolls are too big in circumference. You should be able to put a piece of sushi in your mouth and chew comfortably, but the rolls here are so big that you will have to chew with your mouth open. Don’t even try taking it in 2 bites; I tried and it just turned I to a giant mess. However the nigiri was very good! I got the plate that comes with 2 shrimp, 2 yellowtail, 2 salmon, and 2 tuna pieces. Eat shrimp and yellowtail first and continue with salmon then tuna so it gets better as you go. I don’t think I would order another roll here or peach tea(it was way too sweet for my tasting) but I would stop by to get nigiri if I’m in the area.

When I walked in and saw no one in this place, I was a little worried. I order the philly roll and some sushi. My main complaint is that they are very stingy with the fish in the rolls. Prices aren’t exactly attractive either. Overall I can see why the place is empty. Won’t be coming back

Wow, this place has some bad reviews! First of all, you’re nuts if you go to a place called Sushi Hut in a strip mall and expect to find amazing sushi. Nuts! I have to go to this part of town sometimes for work, and have gotten the veggie roll here a couple of times. It is just your normal, boring vegetarian roll. Nothin’ special. It’s fine. I’ve also tried the egg rolls, which are tasty and cheap. Service is always overly friendly. But — and now this earned them an extra star even — they give you a little dish to put your soy sauce in when you get your sushi to go! Genius! That is always the most annoying thing about trying to eat to-go sushi. They also have soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, and spicy mayo in squeeze bottles if you want to add a little something more to your sushi. They could come down a bit on their prices, for sure. For cheap sushi, Sushi Deli is way way better. However, based on what you should expect from this place, they do a solid job of giving you cheap, fast, strip mall sushi. Absolutely would not go out of my way to eat here though.

I was a bit skeptical walking into this tiny sushi restaurant but was pleasantly surprised. The staff was nice and they made all the food fresh. The shrimp tempura roll was different than how it’s normally made. Instead of avocado it has lettuce which gives it a nice refreshing taste. It was a nice change. The crab ragoon was crispy and delicious and you could see the chunks of crab as you ate it. Not really fast food and we had to wait but they did make the food to order. I would rather have fresh than too fast.
