Went there to meet a friend. Nice little dive bar on a Thursday. Pool Tables could definitely use an upgrade. Could have a more diverse liquor selection. Love the jukebox. Was able to use the app on my phone like I used to in Chicago.

This is a bar really needs security. the two times i’ve been in here a fight broke out among what seemed like regulars. Not my type of place.

I have never had any issues with this bar. Very reasonably priced and a safe atmosphere. Scott is one of the best bartenders ever! Love the staff and the bar.

It is what it is. Great spot for cheap drinks! Always wondering if the girl I am sitting next to is a hooker, a meth head or just an alcoholic like me. The bartenders seem pretty good but this definitely is a bar built for regulars. If it’s your first time here I would be prepared to be ignored and passed over for the regulars.

This is a dive bar after all, so I don’t know why people complain about that aspect. I’ve been a handful of times and never run into trouble. Not the kind of place you wanna start flapping your gums to the patrons as some are bikers, but if you are a respectful, non-confrontational drinker you should be fine. They have Sculpin and Stone IPA on tap which I always love. Decent beer selection for all sorts of beer drinkers and they have a good selection of liquor(nothing too fancy, but Glenlivet 12yr so not too bad). The daytime bartender on Saturdays Nicole) is awesome! Very high energy

This feels like the type of place you need to order a bottled beer! Not that you’re afraid of being drugged, but sometimes you need a piece of jagged glass to get out of a tough spot! Side note, it may have been coincidence that the guy offering to sell me a knife the instant I walked out the front door only confirmed the need for bottled beer and not Kevlar! Disclaimer. 3 stars for being a knife fight type of place! No need for projectiles! Bonus, the beer was cold!

I started going here as my cousin was a bartender, and then I got to know the people and have been going back even when cousin isn’t there. My favorite night to go is on Tuesdays when they have Live Prize Trivia starting at 8 to test your knowledge while having drinks. It is free to play and you get bar cash for winning. Everyone should come out and try it. Just your normal dive bar with darts, pool, ping pong, beer pong, super nice bartenders and friendly people enjoying drinks together. Not a wild and crazy bar, although we can get a little nuts at time, but a mellow everyone knows everyone kind of bar.

This place is awesome! Best dive bar in San Diego. The people who come here are typically regulars or become regulars. The atmosphere is mellow and the bartenders are very welcoming. This is not a place for hot heads or folks who think they own the place. Leave your ego at the door and have a good time and you’ll be treated like a king.

Sorry folks… we were regulars… but we’re done here. How many times do you really think. We are going to walk in… order a house chardonnay just to hear…“uhhhh we’re all out of that”. Mr. Owner… catch a clue… we walked in on Sunday and you were out of Corona… and… of course… Chardonnay. We could have continued to spend money there… but with 4 bars within a block of you that have no problems with the basics… go try another business cause the bar business is not for you. A regular who will be sure to market your incompetents up and down the BLVD.

I’ll admit the place is dodgy and the crowd sketchy. But I like this place, I’m not sure why. Cheap. Ping Pong. Good place to have a few then carry on elsewhere…

This place has cheap drinks, decently friendly patrons, 3 pool tables, a ping pong table, change machine; it’s divey but also has a certain bizarre uniqueness. The only glaring con of this place is that these degenerates sit inside the doorway to the sidewalk and smoke cigs,(defeats the whole purpose that the anti smoking laws have been put in place to protect the public from unwanted exposure to a variety of deadly, poisonous chemicals) if you like that sort of place then this place is for you.

Very chill and I love Dove and Leigh — best bartenders around! I always let them get creative with my drinks and I’m never disappointed.

I cant help laugh at the fact that people were bothered by the hookers and bums that were hanging outside the bar. This isnt La Jolla. lol. and what do you propose we do with them? force them to hang out at the canyons, away from our peripheral vision? Anyhow, great bar. This is where I go to watch UFC fights. Bar tenders always nice. I love that i can bring in pizza when watching the fights. The bar is a typical dive bar.

The only reason we even go to this place is because it’s next door to where we do our laundry. So instead of listening to the washer and dryers and burning up, we would go have a beer or two. I’m really do like dive bars but the bartender that we have experienced is super immature and sits there texting and popping her bubble gum. She was also chasing a patron around trying to grab him. It was weird.

This had become my «go to place» in order to watch a UFC fight. They didn’t charge a cover, and I could get a very tasty white russian. They have now changed their policy to charge a 10 dollar cover and give you a drink ticket. While this might keep more people from coming in to mooch the free UFC, it is also not the best television system in order to view. I will now most likely go to somewhere that charges a cover(again), that has televisions that are worth a cover. I do like the white russians and being able to play a round or two of darts or pool before or after the crowd gathers! Also, the down side to having the open to the street bar portion is that all of the smoke from the people outside just wafts in.

I already had alcohol in my system. I was supposed to drop by my friend’s place to say hi but they were at the bar for some quick drinks just around the corner. So I meet up with him and his roommates. Bar’s right in the middle, pool table/ping pong table on the left side, a few tables here and there, jukebox, and darts. It was a pretty chill place. It was like a Monday night so it wasn’t crowded. The bartender was really nice and friendly; I like her. The people around the bar were nice too… had a conversation with a couple of them. Anyway got my Stella, finished my drink and went back to my friend’s place. It’s so convenient to have a bar so close to their house haha… seriously right around the corner, walking distance. I wouldn’t mind coming here again.

I rolled into this place yesterday afternoon with a group of 10. The drinks are cheap as hell, and they have some beer on tap called«Hooker» so I was pretty stoked to ask for a two dollar Hooker on El Cajon Blvd! The place looks like an old mechanic’s garage that got converted into a bar. There’s a good amount of bar games and TVs, and the bartender was very nice… she rolled her eyes a bit when I ordered a hooker with a big grin on my face, but I’m sure it’s cause she gets immature little bastards like me all the time :D

I like dive bars. Like really scary on occasion super-seedy dive bars. The Boulevard used to be one of these. Here’s the scenario. 3 years ago or so i turned the fateful 21 years of age. \My 1st inclination upon waking was to drink a(finally legal!) shot of whiskey from my local walking distance bar. So, around 1pm on my bday I stroll on down to The Boulevard. The crowd consisted of three people. 2 fat Hell’s Angels lookin’ dudes and one fat older lady. I’m not phased, the first legit whiskey shot of my entire life is right around the corner~! I sit three, count ‘em, THREE seats down from this lady. But no. These dudes feel super threatened or something and give me the look of death from that point on. Meh, whatever. I say one of the coolest sentences to ever leave my mouth during the course of a birthday. «Hi, I’d like a double shot of Wild Turkey, please.» It was foreign to me, this launguage of bars, but somehow it just felt so right. I went on to explain that it was my 21st bday and lived within stagger distance. In response, the bartender offered to take a dollar off the drink. Whooop-dee-freakin-do. I always tip a buck. So that basically means I got zero bday hookup whilst biker dudes hated on me. Fuck that. I looked around, drank my shot with minimal wincing, swigged some sprite and(walking out of the bar) swore not to return. The Boulevard has improved its ways since then. Better staff, cool«free pool sundays», and drink specials has allowed me to currently give the place a 3 star rating. However, the bad taste of my very first encounter still lingers on my lips. Try it out. If you like cheap drinks, tattoos, and pool as much as I do you might find yourself diggin’ it slightly more. … … … (Imagine if I had stayed there. Result #1 would have been me likely defending my face from improvised biker-dude weapons. Result #2 would have probably ended in an excess of whiskey-inspired comradery. Fip a coin, I chose not to.)
