We just finished Mother’s Day brunch and were so disappointed. Let me start by saying the food was wonderful — no complaints there. But the service, while pleasant, was really bad. We waited at least 15 minutes after being seated to be greeted by anyone — our server came and took drink and food order at the same time since we were really hungry and had been waiting. Drinks took another 15 minutes to come out, and then it was only part of our drink order. My husband had to ask 2 separate servers to get the rest of our drinks — that took another 20 minutes,. Our server seemed to forget about us after we ordered — never came back to check on us, and had to track her down a few more times for refills, spoons for coffee, etc. Appetizer plates sat for 25 minutes after we finished first course — no bus person to be found to clear dirty plates. Entrees took an hour and 15 minutes — no explanation or apology for slow and almost non-existent service. No manager around that we could see either. We were so ready to leave after finishing our entrees that we go desserts wrapped to go. I understand it was Mothers Day — but one would think they they would staff accordingly. This is not the level of service I would expect from a Fairmont — especially on a special occasion day like Mother’s Day.

We came for an early lunch during SDRW. It was a breezy sunny day so we sat on the patio; the only annoying part was the crazy fly that kept coming around. I guess he also wants a bite of the delicious food. I started with the shrimp quesadilla. The tortilla was lightly crisped and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. I loved how they threw a bunch of cilantro on it… I LOVE cilantro. For my entrée, I had the fish tacos with homemade tortilla chips. The tortilla chips were very light and went well with the side of pico de gallo. The fish was cooked perfectly and lightly seasoned. Highly recommended. My friend ordered the ahi poke bowl and I had a couple of bites from it and was a bit disappointed as it lacked flavor. I only tasted sweet and I don’t like my savory dishes to be sweet. We are spoiled from eating poke in Hawaii. They were nice enough to swap her ahi bowl for the pork loin sandwich and that sandwich was HUGE. I think there was a cranberry jam sauce inside that complimented the pork very well… Yummy ‘wich. I was a little disappointed that the chicken n waffles were not available. I guess I have to come back for Sunday brunch to try that.

We came here on a hot Saturday afternoon. Thank God for AC! We pulled up to see a row of luxury cars which basically meant there’s a valet. We opted for self parking to the side. When we arrived at the grill, there were only a few table occupied, they sat us in a booth with the view of the golf course pond. The food was reasonably-priced and better than we expected for being a restaurant adjacent to the golf course. They seemed to be under staffed that day since the service was kind of slow. At the end of our meal it took 15 – 20 mins for them to pick up our credit card. Afterwards we strolled around the The Grand’s gorgeous property. It’s a perfect place for photos! The grass and plants didn’t seem to be affected be the drought.

This is a frequent lunch stop for us. They have fantastic home made chips, both potato and tortilla, and the burgers, tacos and bloody Mary’s are all fantastic. The service is hit or miss here depending on who’s working. Sometimes they are all over it and others you have to hunt down a server, but hey, it’s a very casual place. Come wearing shorts and a t shirt or golf attire or casually nice. It all works here. Oh, and their salads are really great too.

Lunch was very disappointing at the clubhouse. The service was barely ok and the hamburger was a bust. I would not recommend eating here. You are much better off going to the main dining room in the hotel where the food and service is much better. Overall the Grand Del Mar was great bit I would stay away from the clubhouse grill.

It’s a great way to start your day before swinging the clubs, sure I should have just stayed there and ordered another bloody Mary and forgotten about the round of golf but luckily I was able to return after my terrible round to some more great food, great service and great bloody Mary’s. I frequent the Grand Del Mar often and look forward to always getting a fabulous meal or even appetizers each and every time.

Was great~! High priced for sure… but the drinks were tasty and strong. The food was delish. Not bad for a ‘bar’.

It has been over an year since I last ate here and all I can say is that it is as good as i can remember. *YUM* This little restaurant is half indoors and half outdoors on the patio overlooking the golf course. It is absolutely beautiful here. PERIOD. The menu is not large, but everything on it made me salivate just a little bit. Today I had the chicken and Brie panini with a side of fruit and the shrimp quesadilla. First of all the quesadilla was one of the best tasting things I’ve had in a while(quite possibly better than what I had in cabo). The flavors were wonderful and you get 4 nice pieces. The Brie panini was also super scrumpdiliumptious!(okay yah not sure if that’s even a real word). I actually split it with my boyfriend and the waitress was so sweet to have them split the dish without us even asking. With a side of fruit(cantelope, honeydew, blueberries, kiwi, strawberry, and a fig), it was the perfect meal for a beautiful day. What’s funny is that they were doing some construction on the outside patio(to extend it) during the time we ate and we could have cared less. Sure theres a bang here and there, but the jazzy music, blue skies and green fields, and good food really shoots this place to one of my favorite places to eat in SD. I kind of felt like I was on vacation! Now, last time I was here I had the mushroom penne and O-M-G. So good. I really wanted to get it again just because I could remember(yes from a year ago) how freakin yummy it was. LOVE this place. I can’t wait to go back. I’m definitely going to try some of their desserts(seasonal pies, key lime pie, chocolate toffee coffee brownie, and mint coconut thing *SORRY name slips my mind*) P. S. Its okay if you roll up in a camry. Don’t be scared off by the porsches, bentleys, rolls royces. The people who work there(at least the ones I interacted with) were all sweet and unpretentious. P.P.S If you want to avoid the construction, I was told they would be done by early September.

What a nice little hidden gem! On our stay-cation in Del Mar we decided to continue on in vacation mode and have breakfast somewhere up in our area near the Doubletree. I remembered seeing the Unilocal event posted about Build Your Own Bloody Marys and brunch, so I knew that this was somewhere that would be right up our alley. I have sent some groups up for my job for golfing before it went private, but never got to go up to the place myself so we were impressed as we drove in and were greeted by the attendant in the shack to keep out the riff– raff! The Clubhouse was not the easiest to find, but once we figured it out we parked and walked in. It was such a beautiful day we sat out on the patio and noticed how beautiful it was to look out on the course and enjoy the scenery. Our server was great– we got the bloody marys and were basically told to enjoy and directed to the Bloody Mary bar where they had the usuals– green olives, celery, green and red peppers, string beans, and now my new fav– jumbo shrimp. They were sooo good! I got the steak and eggs– so good and the steak tasted just like it came off the grill. My boyfriend got the egg white frittata with scallions, spinach, and scallions, which was also very good. The homefries were great and everything had great portions. Yes– we did drop some cash on breakfast– but it is not everyday that we have drinks our first meal of the day. wooohoo!

Came here yesterday to hang with some awesome Unilocalers. It was organized by my main man, CrAzY. First off, if you’re plugging the addy into Google Maps, it’s gonna give you this weird route to get there, when you can actually just go left at Grand Del Mar Way(just a heads up). Upon entry, I was a little wigged out. The Grand Del Mar is this SUPER fancy country club in the hills of of Carmel Valley. I was wearing cut-off pants, a black tee-shirt and a pink bandana. I must have stuck out like a sore thumb! I’m surprised security didn’t try to arrest me. I was lost for a little bit, then, I finally found the joint. I only brought roughly $ 30 for the brunch, but based on how nice this place was, it looked like I was gonna be dropping a few hundos! Seriously, the cars that were situated in the parking lot were ridiculous. There were a bunch of BMW’s, Mercedes, a Hummer, a Maserati and a Bentley located right in front of the entry. A Bentley! What the hell am I getting myself into!!! To my surprise, it wasn’t as high-roller as one would imagine. The prices on brunch are totally reasonable. I think the most expensive item was $ 16. I had the pancakes, on the recommendation of our server. He told me they were some of the best pancakes EVAH, so I took him up on it. Sure enough, those pancakes were damn good! I also got a bloody mary and some coffee. The bloody was legit, for sure. Just the right amount of spice, and not too much of that tomato-paste taste. While the outdoor seating was pretty awesome, the staff was REALLY friendly and the view of the golf course and surrounding mountains in the distance was really pretty… but I just never felt comfortable there. I felt like I had to be quiet, because there seemed to be no other noise coming from anywhere. No music, no TV noise… nada. I would totally come back here, and I’d actually give this place 3.5 stars, but I would probably come back on a date, or when I was a little bit older… like, 80. Haha, but seriously, it’s a great place to hang if you’re looking for something a little more mellow than your traditional brunch. Maybe a good place to take Dad for Fathers Day???

Yes, yes and yes! The food is superb, the service the is superb and the scenery is superb! The menu is exceptionally priced for being a part of The Grand Del Mar and you may think it’s way too swanky for you, but it’s not, it’s the clubhouse grill… Polo shirts, shorts and a hat are the norm here. I haven’t had anything here that I haven’t loved… Breakfast croissants, french toast, monte cristo… D-LISH!
