The Grill was okay, but could have been better. I was not impressed with the size of my Philly Cheese Steak. It was like a sawed-off mini sandwich, and too heavily seasoned. My friend’s pastrami and Swiss, I am guessing, was drenched in yellow mustard. So much so, that she had to use napkins to remove most of it, which was literally dripping from the sandwich. I’ll try them again when it isn’t lunch rush, to see if they can do better.

Good food but stick with the traditional lunches.

I strolled in here randomly for lunch when i was in the Sorrento Valley Area. I have never heard of this place so my first impressions was that it looked like a regular sandwich shop. I was impressed by the wide selection of grill items on their menu.(Because, it is «The Grill» right?). Besides the large menu staring at you behind the cash register, they do have their specialty burgers on the left side. We ordered the Burger of the Month and the Salmon Burger. Was pleasantly surprised at how good it was for the price you pay. It is a family owned restaurant so you do get a welcoming feel when they serve you. Very different than going to a chain restaurant for your burgers and sandwiches. I recommend: Any of their Specials. Comes with your choice of side and a drink!

I came here to have a meeting and ended up staying and getting lunch, & I ordered a gyro it was pretty good I enjoyed it and I got a decent sized portion. The fries were pretty good as well but they did not have ketchup so I was pretty disappointed. But other than that I liked it

I definitely enjoyed the simple burger and fries off the menu; it’s not a swanky establishment, but for a $ 6 lunch that is close to work in Sorrento Valley, you can’t go wrong. Customer service was on par; having not eaten here before, the guy behind the counter helped me decided between the hamburger and the BBQ Chicken. He recommended the burger since the chicken was just a chicken patty. The hamburger wasn’t the most memorable burger of my life, but it was cooked with sincerity and was a decent size(not to mention it had great buns). The fries were perfectly cooked and properly salted(nor greasy)! The rest of the menu was a bit of a potpourri… my coworker grabbed a gyro and cheese fries(the cheese fries were just melted cheddar on top of the fries). If you give them a shot, try your best to get there before or after the lunch rush(the place had low traffic when I went around 2PM). I hear the parking lot gets packed by 11AM.

The owner is rude, like he’s doing you a favor, the food is overpriced for two-star griddle food. Here is a conversation we had about egg whites. Me: «hey this doesn’t look like the standard serving of two egg whites.» Owner: «it’s two eggs with the yolk removed. we don’t use egg whites from cartons» Me: «ok. then, why did you charge me extra for egg whites then?» Owner:(puzzled). Me: «you see, if i purchased the whole egg, and i choose to only have the whites, why would that cost more?» Owner: «because the yolk is wasted» Me: «you’re not getting it.» Owner: «because its more work for us». Me: «so, which is it?» Avoid, and someday a better business will supplant it.

Decent food. Could do better. Friendly staff. Not that many vegetarian options. I would go here again for lunch.

Conveniently located by the 5&805 split. Huge menu with a variety of food types from salads to burgers to gyros. Prices are fair, portions are right and the service is friendly. Gets super busy around noon, so take an early lunch if you’re pressed for time.

Great food, diverse menu. My personal favorite is the cajun chicken sandwich. This place is close by my work, and doesn’t require a trip down to traffic-heavy UTC or UCSD-area locations. The biggest«con» with this place is the parking lot at lunchtime. It’s not really their fault, the entire strip mall has to share a tiny lot, and the place can get pretty dramatic with folks fighting for parking. If my coworkers and I decide to eat here, we usually try to get there before or after the lunch rush, or we just call ahead and have one of us run into grab our order to go.

I don’t think I ordered correctly – should have gotten a burger or sandwich or something typically American style. But instead I got the falafel sandwich. Gross. The falafel wasn’t crunchy. The inside was gummy. The tzaziki had a watered-down taste. Sadly unsatisfying. Next time I’ll pick up a burger and fries. Someone next to me got that and it looked good.

I am a big fan of The Grill, and would consider myself a «regular». There’s a great selection for breakfast, and sandwiches, salads, soups, Greek-inspired dishes, and burgers galore(and at a great price). I’m a breakfast person, and the fried egg sandwich on sourdough is my go-to when I want some«comfort food». I also have my particular requests for how I’d like my sandwiches made, and The Grill staff is awesome about that, too. Although I switched jobs and The Grill isn’t as close to my job anymore, I still make it a habit to come in at least once a week to The Grill. It’s worth it. The service is great, as well. Henry, who’s in charge at the front, is very friendly, and his staff is equally as kind. Also, I’m not sure what the deal is with their brownies, but they’re pretty wonderful, too. If you come in during lunch, I’d suggest phoning in your order, since they can get quite busy. I’m always a fan of giving the mom-n-pop shops in the area my business, including The Grill. I just stopped by there this morning on my way to work, and would’ve taken a photo of my egg sandwich, but it’s in my belly now — so, sorry. :D

Cheap decent food. The guy at the front has the personality of a rock that was kicked out of his village for having a lack of personality.

First time here today and seems like a pretty good lunch spot. I got the lamb gyro, it’s far from the worlds best gyro but not bad either for five bucks. The guy in front of me get the Philly cheesesteak and that looked amazing. I’d come back to try one of those. Everything here is decently priced and they have a huge selection so I’m sure you’ll find something here accommodating!

Great location for the workers in the area, the food is damn good too! The sandwiches are great quantity wise and flavorful. Love the home made cookies! A clean facility with access to free wi-fi, a great place to have lunch.

I personally LOVETHISPLACE! The staff is friendly and always accommodate my picky additions or subtractions to what I order. The Philly Cheese Steak is pretty good. I usually order it with no bell peppers and add mushrooms. Their main-liner burger is pretty NOMTASTIC — I’m thinking of getting that with mushrooms added to it as well. They have daily special which are pretty good. Thursday’s is my favorite.(NOMNOMNOM) It’s a GREAT, affordable, and quick lunch spot! Their breakfast is pretty simple but still good. I’ve never had any issues when coming to this place other than wanting to try everything on their menu.

Reading these reviews, I realized that I am one of the«regulars» referred to here. The Grill isn’t a gourmet restaurant; they cook deli-style, great quality food for daily eats(so 5-star, but in the deli category, not Mister As). I’ve eaten so many items off the menu: sandwiches(hot and cold), pasta, burgers, teriyaki bowls, etc.(if I name any more I embarrass myself). Tips: — Ask for exactly what you want. This seems like a no-brainer, but I’ve heard unhappy people who like their sandwich without mayo but didn’t specify, like their burger well done when they cook medium-well, etc. — If you go between 12 and 1:15 on a weekday, it’ll probably be packed. Expect a 10 – 15 minute wait. Your food will still be cooked properly — they won’t rush it — but you might not have much time to sit. — If you like hummus and/or grape leaves, get them here instead of at Ali Baba’s. I don’t know why it’s so much better here — I would think they come from the same place — but The Grill always has better hummus and dolmas. — The side salad is mostly iceberg and an Italian dressing that isn’t my fave. — Free water! They have a water dispenser you can use at your leisure. This is a family-run business, and if you become a regular, you will reap the benefits of a super friendly staff!

Just had the October fest burger. Pretzel bun. Awesome meat and beer cheese and avocado. I have no idea what else they added but. Damn. Tasty eats. Did I mention the tater tots? I never liked tater tots until the Grill made them a must have on the tasty scale. Come alone so you can eat in the corner and snarfle up some tasty eats.

I came here to grab a sandwich pretty much only out of convenience. I pretty much live at Zumbar, but I never venture outside of the coffee shop until now. Pros: –There is a lot of selection, including hot and cold sandwiches, gyros, salads, and burgers. –Prices are decent. –Portions are generous. –The service is not super quick, but is very efficient and timely. Also, very friendly. –They seem to have a good flow of regulars. A good sign! I don’t know if I have so much a Cons list as a «meh» list. The food is just okay, not making me think I need to come back. Bottom line: Don’t go out of your way to come here, but if you work in the area/need something to soak up that delicious Zumbar coffee, this is not a bad choice.
