The HEP Spot is a twice-​a-​month swing dance venue in San Diego. It occurs on second and fourth Sundays of the month at the Veterans Museum in Balboa Park. Party on the fourth Sunday goes to the live music.
The dance starts at 6PM and is preceded by a lesson at 5PM. The attending crowd (60 dancers on live music nights) is mostly comprised of intermediate and advanced dancers, although the place is beginner-​friendly. 9PM is a typical cut-​off time.
Veteran’s Museum is an interesting location by itself with good quality dance floor surrounded by the actual exhibits.
The seating is sufficient but tight.
Parking is free and ample.
The air conditioning in very inefficient, so the place is very warm in summer.
