I use West Bean at my café and its crazy how many compliments we get on the quality of our coffee. We mostly have West Bean Roasters to thank for that! Their coffee is roasted perfectly and is so smooth. They are also amazing at brewing cold brew coffee. Definitely check out their café downtown for amazing flavored cold brew on tap.

Location on maps is WRONG, they are by JT bar & grill inside the yellow complex. This is a ROASTERYONLY !!! If you want drinks please go to their café location in downtown. We started out at the café and wanted to check out where they roasted their beans so we drove up here. We got lost… cause of Unilocal damn Unilocal! We finally found the location and excitedly threw the door open and successfully scared the crap out of the two guys working there. After the awkward silence and laughter, Andrew, one of the owners, showed us around their baby warehouse. Where the roaster is… etc. This location sell roasted whole beans not green beans. They do single-origin and blends and they’re looking into branching to more exclusive beans. Can’t wait! He also recommended some other places to try(which is super cool; friendly competition)… of course I already tried most of them. :) But great place; friendly down to earth ppl. Yay!

started getting my morning coffee here. the price is higher than Starbucks or Coffeebean but the quality trumps the cost. Hope this place stays open a long time and keeps up the great quality Java. I’m considering moving on from the coffee pods to grinding some beans from this place for my weekend brew.

These dudes are awesome. I rented a unit a couple doors down from them for my fitness business, and we became friends. I go to them weekly to visit and hang out. I buy my beans exclusively from Westbean. Their knowledge and skill in coffee roasting is world class. If you enjoy a GREAT cup of coffee, look no further.

I stumbled into The Westbean Coffee Roasters a few months ago, wondering what such a place was doing in an industrial park down by the freeway. What they’re doing is roasting«microbatched hand-crafted coffee,» sourced from co-ops and private growers in Africa(love the Malawi Mzuzu), Central America(Honduras Capucas is a favorite) and Southeast Asia, including Papua New Guinea. It’s how they’re doing it that intrigues me. Like a couple of mad scientists, the owners, Andrew and James, toy with heat and timing to bring out the best in each batch of beans. As they’ve explained to me, no two batches taste the same, and the flavor changes as the beans expel gasses, and the types of beans they have in stock can change, so the experimentation continues and the results are wonderful. Like a lot of people my age, I grew up on Maxwell House. It’s what my folks drank, so it’s what I knew. In my twenties, I discovered a roaster near my apartment in Washington DC, and created a blend of beans I liked, but of course, that guy went out of business, because no one bought coffee beans in 1987. I occasionally found other sources for beans, but mostly, I got lazy and turned to Starbucks, where my coffee always tastes the same, because burnt always tastes burnt. Now, thanks to The Westbean Coffee Roasters, I have options, which has meant learning new things, which frankly, has made my head hurt a little bit, because, at 55, I have enjoyed the easy-coasting comfort of already knowing everything I need to know. For making me do homework, I curse you, James and Andrew, and I curse your peppery, syrupy, floral and jungle floor, monkey butt beans. Just kidding. These have to be the two nicest guys ever to roast a coffee bean, and they’re patient with a newbie, and helpful, and kind Today I placed an order for two more pounds. The order, a text, read: «I’d like to pick up coffee in the next couple of days. Can you arrange a pound of Honduras-Malawi, half-and-half? And a pound of whatever you guys think I might enjoy, remembering that I’m letting it cure for a week to 10 days before I start using it.» Can’t do that at Starbucks.

Just came back from the warehouse and I totally recommend you buy your beans from The Westbean. The owners were really knowledgeable, nice and patient with us. They took the time to explain the different types of roasts they did and the origins of some beans. They gave us some samples before we did our final purchase. Great experience, will be coming back soon. The installations are clean with new equipment, prices are acceptable because of the quality and freshness of the product.

This was a San Diego 6 news recommendation. The coffee is amazing! The price is reasonable. The warehouse clean and the equipment top of the line. Great knowledge of the roasting process. You can purchase online or in the warehouse. I would recommend if you buy beans. One of the best roasters I have been to.
