I’ve been pretty fortunate enough to find good restaurants lately but this one definitely breaks that streak. What made it worse is that I brought my mom here for her birthday. She loves trying new wine places and this one had some good reviews. The night we came here was definitely NOT reflective of how many Unilocal stars they have; perhaps it was a bad night for them but that’s never an excuse. My boyfriend and I drove 3 hours from LA to visit my mom and take her somewhere nice. We brought our dog, and took him around to the patio where I read was dog-friendly. We tried pulling on the door and it was locked. We waited there a few minutes for someone to come by. No one. So we went around to the front and waited at the door so that I could ask someone to open the patio door. No one greeted us. No one said a word. Finally after a few minutes of us standing there awkwardly I said«Hi» to the staff behind the bar. Nothing. I didn’t know we were invisible. I saw the sign that said«Seat yourself» so I said fine and walked through to the patio door from inside the restaurant. Then I hear the waitress behind the bar mutter under her breath but obviously loud enough so we could hear, «Yeah just walk through, not around.» …oh NOW you acknowledge us when you have something snarky to say? One, we DID go around first and the door was locked and no one helped us. Two, we stood at the front door where no one greeted us, not even after I said something. I’d say this was the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. Luckily our waiter who actually helped us was really nice. The ambience and setting was really nice as well. I wanted to give more stars for those two reasons but unfortunately that waitress’ b*tchy attitude negates all that. As for the food, the portions were relatively small for what we paid for and tasted like something I could make at home. We got the chef’s special eggplant pasta,(which was bland and my mom did not finish) and meatloaf that was actually pretty good(but honestly, $ 15 for meatloaf?). The food took a while to come out and there weren’t even that many people there. The only good that came out of this experience is that now I know that I’ll never come here again and it’s the only restaurant that’s made my list of places to NOT recommend to my friends.

Chill spot to have craft beers or wine. This is becoming one of my go to spots when I’m in San Diego. They have live music on Thursday thru Sat on thwre outside patio. This time I only had appetizers which were outstanding. I met the owner who was very nice and approachable, she shared a lot of thoughts about wine with us and food. Great atmosphere with a nice happy hour menu.

Even though my fiancé was hating on me this place was freakin awesome. After two glasses of fine wine, she’s laughing and all is well. Bravo!

Love this place They have the best Brussels sprouts! I also enjoy the jalapeños on the happy hour menu… Which is everyday 4 – 6 … And Monday’s all night. Also the burrata app is so great with the chutney peaches. Perfect place to bring my pups too, they even have a little dog treat menu;-). Also for dessert I had the warm banana bread pudding topped with ice cream and caramel sauce… So yummy !!! I will be back soon

Small but intimate and nice for HappyHour. Food is tasty and service friendly. Especially like Malvern and bruschetta was great pairing. Come early as parking could be an issue.

For wine ONLY, this place is pretty legit. The $ 4 happy hour red blend was really good. A great deal! The bartender took care of us, she was pleasant though a bit pre-occupied with wine reps. If we had just had wine, this place would have been 4 stars. The food was another story. Our $ 6 app of roasted garlic was a joke. One tiny head of garlic cut in half horizontally(usually just the very top is cut off). It came with some bread, but honestly, as a former server, I would’ve never served it. The entire dish probably cost them $ 1($ 0.33 cents for the garlic and the rest for a few slices of baguette). It was sad. Two heads of garlic cut properly would have been a much more suitable portion. The happy hour stuffed jalapenos were good and at $ 4 it was huge compared to the garlic(though still small). I also didn’t care for the Sandy Melt, all you could taste was over powering blue cheese. There was no creaminess from the other cheeses… Overall, the happy hour wine and the atmosphere were nice, but the food was a total bore…

I stopped by here a few weeks ago with a friend… Wed April 20th to be exact. It was during Happy Hour around 5:15 — 5:30p. The inside had a few diners and the outside wasn’t very busy either with only two tables being occupied. We walked through the front and the bartender acknowedged us as we made our way to the outside patio. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case with the outside waitress. We sat there as she came out and took care of the other customers never even looking our way. We watched as she helped the first table then the second going back into the restaurant and coming out to the patio quite a few times. 5 min then 10 min passed without even a glance or an «I’ll be with you in a minute» which would have kept me there a bit longer. Realizing we must be invisible… we left. I really wanted to try this place. It’s cute, dog friendly and has entertainment. SERVICESUCKEDTHOUGH! I won’t return. I suggest going to The Pearl or the Brigantine… they are super friendly and have a great happy hour. We ended up at The Brigantine for wine wednesday with half off bottles. Excellent service and both of these places are really close too. Cheers!

Fabulous food, great selection of delicious wine, decadent truffles! Top notch service and cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Overall, the best little neighborhood pub in Shelter Island!

We enjoyed the Wine Pub on Saturday evening. It’s pleasantly sized with as much patio seating as indoor seating. The parking lot was adequately sized and we had to wait only a few minutes to get a table. They have a good wine list and were knowledgeable about recommending the various choices. They were gracious about providing samples to taste before ordering. We also enjoyed our dinner. We had the sesame crusted ahi over salad and the combination dinner of chicken panini and lemon orzo soup. We finished by sharing a Guinness chocolate cupcake — delicious. We enjoyed the excellent service, cheerful ambience, and delicious food and wine. We would definitely come here again.

This review is embarrassingly late but I can’t think about Shelter Island without remembering how much I loved the Wine Pub. My sister and I were staying about a mile away so, after seeing the stellar Unilocal reviews, we took a little walk over. We scored a table outside and started with a glass of wine apiece — a lovely Paso Robles cabernet for me, tempranillo for sister. Our waitress couldn’t have been more wonderful — there was a chill in the air, so not only were the heat lamps on, but our server brought us each out a cozy blanket while we sipped our wine. That’s pretty stellar and gives me warm fuzzies all over again. Beyond the wine and service, our food was fabulous. A selection of bruschetta in four varieties(fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil pesto and balsamic, plus roasted artichoke spread with roasted red bell pepper, along with fig jam, brie, fresh apple and prosciutto and one with cranberry, goat cheese and walnuts) was a pretty solid shareable appetizer. Following that delight, I ordered the portobello mushroom panini with homemade pesto, zucchini, goat cheese, kalamata tapenade and roasted bell peppers. Stellar all around. Sipping wine under a clear sky with great company and tasty food — clearly a perfect experience!

This is by far one of our favorite places in San Diego! Great wines, great local beer on tap, excellent food and amazing staff. On the patio by the fire, with live music occasionally, makes for the perfect night out. They are even dog friendly! Stop by The Wine Pub, you’ll love it.

Came for the first time and we really enjoyed it. I’ve been going to the Thai place next door for years but somehow have never noticed this spot until last night. Our server Jen was super knowledgable about the wines and just a delightful person in general. The cheese and charcuterie board was tasty, we were really digging the sage derby. The roasted beet salad and french onion soup were delicious as well. We didn’t have room for desert but will definitely be back soon to try them and more wine.

Great atmosphere, fantastic appetizers and always stellar service. On our servings visit we brought our dog and they brought him water right away! Then they brought the dog menu and we ordered him rice and chicken. He loved it! It’s a great place to have dinner or just aps. I will be back

A quintessential«give back to the community» kind of establishment from dog and breast cancer related charities to fun bring-your-own-chair movies out on the patio. Plus painting classes and really great happy hours. Very nice selection of wine and beers — lots of thought given to what’s available. And bottles of wine to purchase as well!

Excellent service! They have a nice selection of wines by the glass and a few draught beers. The menu has lots of fresh, light, and seasonal options like an organic roasted beet salad and homemade French onion soup. They are super dog-friendly and greeted the pups with a cool bowl of ice water which was greatly appreciated and they have a dog menu. Also, if you dine with your pups, 10% of your check is donated to a dog charity. This is my kind of place!

Met a friend here during happy hour and brought my little buddy. We downed our wine and split some artichoke crustini appetizer, which wasn’t what either of us were expecting. It was cold artichoke hearts on little toasted breads, as opposed to some kind of warm artichoke thing we could put on crustinis. No big deal, moving on, we shared a brie and pear panini which was really yummy and we shared the ahi sliders, which were the bomb! Our dogs liked the little dog menu too, totally reasonably priced for $ 2 for chicken and rice. We left as live music was setting up, so might have to come back sometime for that!

I wanted to love this place and maybe I will one day. I’m not giving up on it but I have to write an honest review. I met a friend for dinner and was looking forward to great wine, live music and great food! Well the wine was fantastic and we got 50%off first glass with check in! Score! The music was fun and not too loud so we could still chat. Let’s move onto the food: the appetizer we ordered was so good I should of ordered it again! Everyone is doing Brussel sprouts these days but this place is doing a damn good job! Loved them! I decided to go with the pesto penne pasta«special» and added chicken to it. Oh that dish was special alright… The entrée was so small it looked like a Tapas portion(small plates). The pasta sauce was soooo watery and had no flavor. If you have read any of my reviews you know that I am super sensitive to salty food and rarely use salt but I was using salt and pepper like it was going out of style and it still didn’t do the trick. I paid extra for chicken that was waaaay overcooked I couldn’t even chew it. Finally decided to give up! I walked in there starving and left still hungry! Worst chicken pasta I have ever had the pleasure of paying for. :(almost forgot to mention the portion size was ridiculous. The entrée was smaller then the Brussel spouts appetizer!

We were excited for the dog friendly patio and gluten free menu with seemingly great Unilocal reviews. Gluten free bread and oil starter was great and the best thing about this place. Dog space is small, awkward, and set up with enough room between tables that our’s was sitting with another couple. Received half our order ~20 minutes before the other half. Unapologetic staff that mostly seemed like they hated their jobs. The Andini looks great on paper, but really wasn’t. Bland and soggy. Maybe we got them on an off night, but off enough that we won’t be returning. Just not worth the $
